Du Qing

Du Qing is the wooden-bodied founder of the Blue Dragon Sect, publicly rumored to be a Void Tribulant but actually at the seventh Arcane Tribulant. His pursuit of Wang Lin changes from revenge to terrified accommodation, and later earns him a comfortable position as a Great Soul Sect elder. (Chapters 1801–2000)

Biography

Founder of the Blue Dragon Sect

Du Qing builds the Blue Dragon Sect around opportunistic treasure-taking. Its first rule—where something is strange, there is a problem and a treasure—encourages disciples to target outsiders while avoiding powers they cannot afford to offend. Du Qing's connection to the Great Soul Sect lets the sect behave aggressively across the Heavenly Bull Continent. He is widely called an early-stage Void Tribulant, a useful exaggeration that protects his followers through reputation. (Chapters 1801–1806)

Wang Lin destroys much of the Blue Dragon Sect while drawing on earth fire, killing thousands and crippling its elders. Du Qing searches personally, furious that someone has reversed his own doctrine by stealing from him and destroying his cave. As successive fire veins wither along Wang Lin's route, anger turns into apprehension. He privately decides that if the unknown cultivator proves his equal, recruiting him would be more useful than revenge. (Chapters 1806–1810)

A pursuit reversed

Du Qing follows with a Great Soul Sect smoke crane and finally attacks while Wang Lin is consuming a powerful child vein. His fire-wood body meets Wang Lin's flame handprint, but Wang transfers the force into the fire dragon and uses Du Qing's own strike to advance the devouring. The exchange exposes the truth: Du Qing has passed seven Arcane Tribulants, not nine, and is only infinitely close to Void Tribulant. (Chapters 1810–1811)

Wang Lin then frightens him with treasures, connections, and power until Du Qing abandons retaliation and becomes an eager guide. He brings earth-fire veins and a complete continental map while tolerating Wang's prolonged attempt to recover Spatial Bending. Du Qing secretly mocks seven months of failure—until Wang disappears, returns from the far Heavenly Mountain in half an incense stick, and leaves green snow where he stood. Contempt becomes sincere fear and recognition of genius. (Chapters 1811–1819)

Service and an elder's life

Du Qing later delivers Green Bull's Soul Eye message to Wang Lin and asks no payment beyond staying in favorable regard. In later years his fleshless body is replaced by wood with his origin soul condensed inside. Green Bull appoints him a Great Soul Sect elder despite his cultivation not meeting the normal elder threshold, giving the former predator a secure and comfortable life under the institution whose reputation once protected his own sect. Appearance and personality

Du Qing normally appears as a young man. When he uses his full body power, cracks expose a purple wooden form surrounded by flame that does not burn it. He is moody, greedy, and jealous, but not foolishly inflexible: fear rapidly becomes politeness when evidence changes, and he knows when survival requires abandoning pride. (Chapters 1806–1819)

Abilities and cultivation

Seventh Arcane Tribulant

Du Qing advertises early Void Tribulant cultivation but has actually survived seven Arcane Tribulants. His aura approaches the higher realm, and his fire-wood physique makes him stronger than an ordinary cultivator at the same stage. He still cannot match a true Void Tribulant, and every later tribulation will become harder; outsiders cannot help him pass them. (Chapters 1810–1811 and 1903)

Fire-wood puppet body

The Blue Dragon Sect's specialty replaces flesh with a puppet body in pursuit of longevity. Du Qing's wooden body creates enormous arms through spatial distortions and tolerates his own fire essence without burning. Physical toughness lets him fight more like an Ancient-clan cultivator, but the body is not immortal in the absolute sense: his origin soul remains the controlling life, and stronger law or essence attacks can still threaten it. Fire essence

Du Qing is recognized by the Heavenly Bull Continent as a fire-essence cultivator. Strong earth-fire veins automatically stir the essence, allowing him to surround wooden attacks with flame and sense major changes in the regional fire network. Wang Lin's superior absorption and essence development overwhelm this advantage, proving that recognition by the continent does not grant exclusive control over its fire. (Chapters 1810–1811)

Smoke-crane tracking

A paper crane from the Great Soul Sect expands into smoke and follows a target's trail across the continent. It enables Du Qing to close a long pursuit but cannot increase his combat power or prevent the target from growing stronger along the route. Once Wang Lin restores Spatial Bending, ordinary tracking becomes irrelevant. (Chapters 1810 and 1819)

Relationships

• Wang Lin: Du pursues him for destroying the Blue Dragon Sect, then becomes an accommodating helper after their power difference and Wang's connections become clear. (Chapters 1804–1819 and 1885–1886)
• Xuan Luo: The possibility of a Grand Empyrean behind Wang Lin is one reason Du Qing reassesses open hostility. (Chapters 1807–1813)
