Sadie

Sadie Nimper is a White Rose agent and the long-term investigative partner of Frank. Initially a severe outside investigator probing the unusual deaths around Slough, she later opposes corruption inside her own organization and becomes an aerial combat ally of the Howlers during the werewolf wars.

Biography

Investigating Slough and surviving the black werewolf

Sadie arrives with Frank to take control of the construction-site case after ordinary authorities encounter evidence beyond their remit. Of the pair, she is the more openly suspicious interviewer: when they question Gary Dem about Billy, she records his school and identity rather than accepting his answers at face value. That investigation brings her into direct contact with the black werewolf. In bird form she can fight and escape through the air, but Billy bites through her foot before she gets clear, demonstrating how badly a supernatural target can punish even a trained Altered agent. She survives and returns to duty rather than treating the failed capture as a reason to leave the field. (Chapters 7, 45, and 83–86)

From White Rose investigator to Slough defender

Sadie and Frank remain partners through the exposure of Phoenix influence within the White Rose. After the corrupt leadership is removed, they move with Kanu and Elijah into Internal Affairs, a role that makes their loyalty institutional but not uncritical. They later meet the Howlers socially and offer assistance while emphasizing that they are still agents, preserving a boundary between cooperation and membership. When the White Rose itself collapses, that boundary becomes less meaningful: Sadie, Frank, and Elijah remain in Slough because their former organization and home structure no longer exist. (Chapters 970, 1141, 1361, and 1582)

During Lupus's invasion, Sadie converts that alliance into direct battlefield support. She scouts Slough from the air with Frank and Crowley, carries allies out of danger, and fires hardened feathers down on werewolves. She continues fighting after Kanu holds back the Iron-Masked Werewolf so the others can retreat, later combining an aerial feather barrage with Crowley's attack on Lupus. Lupus's shockwave throws the fliers away, establishing the limit of their support against an Alpha-class opponent, but Sadie survives and helps remove bodies from the battlefield. Her latest position is therefore not that of an investigator who solved Slough from outside, but a displaced former agent who has chosen to stay among the people she helped defend. (Chapters 1390, 1410, 1429–1431, 1470–1515, and 1582)

Appearance and personality

Sadie is a middle-aged woman with dark red hair. Her early interviews are direct, skeptical, and more confrontational than Frank's, giving their partnership a deliberate hard-and-soft rhythm. Experience does not make her less forceful, but it broadens what she is willing to protect: she moves from scrutinizing Slough's teenagers to risking herself beside them once the danger and the corruption around it become clear. (Chapters 7, 45, 779, and 1141)

Powers and abilities

Bird-type Altered form

Sadie's manufactured Altered form produces wings, flight, clawed legs, and hardened feathers. The corpus does not identify the source creature, serum, or exact transformation cost. She uses the wings for escape, reconnaissance, rapid rescue, and high-angle attacks. Her feathers can be launched in dense volleys like metal projectiles, allowing her to pressure targets while remaining outside ordinary melee range; her taloned legs provide a close-range option. (Chapters 83–86, 1390, and 1410–1431)

The form improves her strength, speed, durability, and aerial senses, but it does not make her immune to interception. Billy catches and bites through her foot, elite werewolves can endure or evade the feather fire, and Lupus disperses a combined aerial attack with a shockwave. Sadie's most effective later applications are therefore coordinated scouting, extraction, and sustained support rather than solitary combat against an Alpha. No separate evolved form is demonstrated. (Chapters 83–86 and 1470–1515)

Relationships

  • Frank: Sadie's investigative and combat partner. His calmer manner offsets her suspicion, while their matched bird forms let them scout, attack, and withdraw as a pair. (Chapters 7–86, 779–970, and 1390–1582)
  • Kanu: Sadie follows Kanu into Internal Affairs and later survives because he holds off the Iron-Masked Werewolf while the aerial agents retreat. (Chapters 970 and 1429–1431)
  • Gary Dem and the Howlers: Gary begins as a subject of Sadie's investigation. Later crises turn the relationship into cooperation, culminating in her defense of Slough after the White Rose can no longer give her a stable institutional home. (Chapters 45, 1141, and 1361–1582)

Items

Sadie has no finalized configured inventory item. Her wings, feathers, and talons are produced by her Altered transformation rather than carried equipment.
