Ryan

Ryan is a highly ranked AFA student whose rare Gorilla Altered form emphasizes overwhelming upper-body strength. His pride and repeated interest in Xin Clove turn his assessment fight with Gary Dem into a personal contest as well as an academy exercise. He is distinct from the corrupt White Rose officer also called Ryan who appears much later in Clusterfield.

Biography

Rivalry at the AFA

Ryan enters the AFA with the best raw physical performance in his intake, but his hostile attitude already concerns the faculty. By the time Gary's group arrives, Ryan is among the academy students preparing for an AFC debut and has repeatedly asked Xin out. Seeing her connection with Gary makes him eager to fight the newcomer. He attacks aggressively and transforms when Gary withstands his unaltered blows, but Gary's refusal to fall frightens him and pushes his already fragile composure toward desperation. Ryan nevertheless helps pull Gary away from teacher Eddy after the hungry werewolf loses control, accepting responsibility for provoking the situation rather than abandoning the people in the cage. (Chapters 321, 406, and 415–419)

Ryan later leaves the academy and attends Gary's own debut match. The corpus does not establish his later team, ranking, or career outcome. (Chapter 668)

Appearance and personality

Ryan is a teenage boy with spiky blond hair. He is confident, mocking, and intensely competitive, particularly where Xin and his academy standing are concerned. His fear during Gary's rampage and concern for Eddy show that the bravado does not erase his sense of responsibility. (Chapters 406, 413, and 419)

Powers and abilities

Ryan was made an Altered from a rare beast related to a silverback gorilla. His transformation enlarges and lengthens both arms until he moves on his knuckles, covering them in black fur while white fur rises along his back and neck. The form supplies exceptional striking and grappling strength; he can leap using his arms, produce claws, and separately extend curved tusk-like canines for a powerful bite. Even untransformed, he combines strong blows with agile, unpredictable footwork. (Chapters 415–418)

The form is costly to sustain. Repeated full-force attacks leave Ryan exhausted, his confidence deteriorates when an opponent survives them, and he admits that he has not yet unlocked all of the beast's power. His transformed strength injures Gary but cannot defeat him before Gary begins to lose control. (Chapters 417–418)

Relationships

• Gary Dem: Ryan treats Gary as a romantic and competitive rival; their assessment fight reveals Gary's endurance and nearly becomes fatal when Gary loses control.
• Xin Clove: Ryan has asked Xin out repeatedly and resents her preference for Gary, although she consistently rejects him.
• Eddy: Ryan respects the AFA teacher enough to intervene when Gary attacks him and apologizes for his part in the danger.
