Lenny Steel

Lenny Steel is an ancient hero, brilliant alchemist, and one of the first vampires. A historical account attributes the creation of the Original Vampires to powers he obtained through a portal, while the remembered Bronzeland crisis shows him using that condition, rather than curing it, to stop a war between two werewolf Alphas and help seal Unzoku.

Biography

A vanished hero carrying a new condition

The corpus first names Lenny among ancient figures burdening an older supernatural conflict, and later summarizes his origin as opening a portal for power to fight beside Ray Talen, thereby creating the first vampires known as Originals. The portal's location, the nature of what answered him, and the conversion mechanism are not explained in the supplied story. By the Bronzeland era he is remembered as a giant-like fighter whose fists devastated enemies and as a heroic alchemist far ahead of ordinary healers. He nevertheless removes himself from public life so completely that even his survival is uncertain; Galdark finally traces him through otherwise inexplicable cures and stabilized afflictions rather than through his name. Preventing an Alpha war and sealing Unzoku

Lenny leaves hiding because Lilly's blood dependence and vulnerability to sunlight match his own vampiric condition. He does not offer Jack a false cure: he states that no cure exists, but gives Jack a rare-beast ring that can let Lilly walk in daylight and promises to share later discoveries. His existence proves that the condition predates the two current Alphas and breaks Unzoku's claim that their refusal to fight caused it. Lenny then works with Bliss, Jack, Steve, and Bluebird against Unzoku, using vampire speed and blood aura while judging when further damage risks provoking an even more dangerous response. He places crystals in a circle, powers a multicolored focus, and activates Bliss's reinforced space; the indiscriminate seal pulls everything inside its boundary into isolation, forcing allies to escape before it closes. Building a warning from memory

Jack later seeks Lenny and Bliss so future Alphas can experience the truth rather than inherit a distorted record. Bliss creates a self-contained space with its own reactive rules, while Lenny uses Jack's life and memories as the energy and population source. Lenny warns that the process will cost Jack his life, and the resulting world carries real stakes: entrants who die inside also die outside. Jack says he lived a full life before accepting that price, but neither Lenny's nor Bliss's fate after the construction is shown. Appearance and personality

In the Bronzeland memory, Lenny appears as an older man with dark hair tied into a ponytail, dark practical clothing, and a strong, compact build. Jack remembers a much larger, almost giant-like version of him, but the reason for the physical change is not established. Lenny is direct, calm, and unwilling to manufacture hope: he admits that he cannot cure vampirism, then offers the more limited help he can actually provide. His deliberate disappearance coexists with a sense of responsibility that brings him back when his knowledge can prevent a war. (Chapters 1671–1675)

Original Vampire physiology and blood aura

Lenny is one of the Original Vampires created after his portal expedition. In the observed era he has vampiric scent, extreme speed, physical strength, and red blood aura. He can move around a battlefield before ordinary observers can track him and fire jagged projections or a concentrated cannon-like beam from his palms. The beam damages ordinary targets but breaks against Unzoku's deliberately hardened flesh, establishing a ceiling against enemies with far greater physical defense. Lenny's ability to stand in daylight shows that he has found a treatment or protection against the usual vulnerability, but the mechanism used on himself is not explained. Alchemy

Lenny identifies and treats illnesses, curses, and transformations beyond conventional medicine. Galdark locates him by following cases that mysteriously stabilized, and Lenny produces a rare-beast ring that lets Lilly tolerate sunlight. His expertise can mitigate vampirism but not reverse it; he explicitly remains affected himself. The corpus does not describe the ring's fabrication or duration, so its daylight protection should not be generalized into a universal cure. (Chapters 1672–1675)

Crystal sealing and memory population

For Bliss's Unzoku seal, Lenny positions special crystals into a perimeter, holds a multicolored activation crystal, and pours his energy into it. Once active, the white gateway exerts an immense pull on everyone within the circle. The technique requires preparation, a bounded area, allies able to leave the perimeter, and Lenny's uninterrupted focus; even then, Bliss says the reinforced space is temporary and Unzoku will eventually escape. Its effectiveness also depends on weakening the target before activation. (Chapters 1684–1685)

Lenny later supplies the people and continuity inside Bliss's medallion world by drawing on Jack's memories and life. Bliss creates the space, so Lenny should not be credited with independent world creation. The demonstrated construction needs a willing living anchor and exacts that anchor's death, while the resulting inhabitants can react beyond a fixed replay of history.
