Don Tinge

Don Tinge is the Chief Constable and a principal founder of the White Rose. A former senior police official and one of the strongest Altereds in the organization, he combines institutional strategy with water-based Leviathan powers that place him near the world's Kings in destructive force.

Biography

Founding and commanding the White Rose

Don helps propose the White Rose to the government, secures the funding for its Altered program, and rises to the top of the global organization. During the mass prison break, he locks down the headquarters and mobilizes its agents while balancing the lives at risk against the public confidence and funding on which the institution depends. When Kanu exposes corruption and the conflict with NIRV and the One Gang grows, Don negotiates a temporary arrangement with Gary Dem's Howlers: the gang strikes Harvor while the White Rose moves against NIRV. The operation lets the White Rose claim a public success and recover support, but later political and supernatural pressure dismantles the organization and strips Don of command. (Chapters 897, 1058–1063, and 1138)

A final campaign after disbandment

After the White Rose falls, Don and a small group continue protecting Centrefield. Kai persuades him to join the Howlers' defense by offering protection for White Rose families and a chance to fight the corrupt powers Don had once been institutionally restrained from confronting. Don will not support an aggressive invasion, but he intervenes once Lupus's forces attack civilians and tears through their armored ranks. He then accepts the one opponent he believes only he can face: Lupus. Don's hybrid form wounds the Alpha with water weapons, but Lupus freezes and breaks them, forcing the full Leviathan transformation that Don cannot completely control. The form's power devastates the battlefield, yet Lupus adapts, cuts through its scales, kills Don through the skull, and consumes him; later, Lupus identifies Don's fluid water power as having increased his own elemental output. (Chapters 1456–1466, 1480, 1501–1504, 1735, and 1812)

Appearance and personality

Don is an enormous, broad-shouldered man whose White Rose uniform appears close to tearing around his body. After losing office he wears an ordinary large jacket, shirt, and trousers, but retains an imposing presence. He is politically calculating and conscious of institutional legitimacy, yet his final choices reveal a protective line he will not cross: he refuses to initiate the war himself, fights when civilians are threatened, and knowingly risks his life against Lupus. (Chapters 897 and 1459–1461)

Powers and abilities

Leviathan Altered physiology

Don obtained an Altered serum through the funding he secured during the White Rose's creation, though the corpus does not identify the source creature or procedure beyond the resulting Leviathan form. His usual hybrid transformation preserves human judgment while granting immense strength, durability, sharp combat instincts, and fine control of water. In battle he functions like a wrecking ball, ripping through armor and weapons, surviving blows that would immediately crush lesser fighters, and forming condensed water into tridents, spears, shields, and high-pressure attacks. (Chapters 1460–1466 and 1501)

The full transformation produces a colossal, serpentine sea beast with midnight-blue and steel-gray scales, fins, spines, claws, serrated teeth, and a massive tail. A layer of carried water lets it move through air as though swimming, while compressed jets can excavate a crater hundreds of meters across; its tail strikes create shockwaves strong enough to uproot trees. The price is loss of tactical control as animal instinct overwhelms Don's human mind, so he normally favors the weaker hybrid balance. The form's armor is not absolute: Lupus's obsidian claws penetrate its scales, ice freezes or divides its water, and repeated agile attacks progressively slow the beast until it can be killed. (Chapters 1502–1504)

Leadership and tactical judgment

Don organizes large-scale responses, negotiates across hostile institutions, and analyzes opponents while fighting. His water traps anticipate movement, and he deliberately saves his full form for an opponent whom the hybrid cannot stop. These strengths depend on retaining human control; once fully transformed, the greater output comes with diminished reason and increasingly repetitive attacks that Lupus learns to evade. (Chapters 897, 1058–1063, and 1501–1503)

Relationships

  • Kanu: Don credits Kanu for exposing corruption and uses his information in White Rose planning, although their organization remains constrained by politics and public image. (Chapters 1058–1063 and 1138)
  • Kai: Kai researches Don's history and persuades him to return to battle by connecting Centrefield's protection with Don's original purpose in founding the White Rose. (Chapters 1459–1461)
  • Gary Dem: Don first treats Gary's gang as a tactical partner against NIRV and the One Gang; in the final war he fights on the Howlers' side to keep Lupus's forces from reaching Slough. (Chapters 1058–1063 and 1456–1504)
  • Lupus: Don considers himself the only allied fighter able to stand against Lupus. Their duel forces his maximum transformation but ends in his death and the transfer of aspects of his water power through consumption. (Chapters 1501–1504, 1735, and 1812)
