Tony

Tony is the big-eyed vice leader of the Parasites and a loyal enforcer for Mantis. He relies on a reflective barrier ability, but its poor match against physical strength leaves him unable to stop Quinn when the Parasites collapse. (Chapters 688–702)

Biography

Enforcing Mantis's rule

Tony attends the Parasites' faction duel beside Mantis, Wevil, and Hana, boasting about the outside faction supporting them and dismissing their opponents' alliances as intimidation. When the fighting begins, he realises that his barrier is suited to reflecting elemental attacks rather than meeting raw strength. He therefore avoids Nate and targets the apparently passive Sil, a choice based on appearance rather than knowledge of Sil's capabilities. (Chapters 688–690)

After Mantis poisons the visiting Cursed members, Tony remains with the Parasites' leadership group. Quinn later charges through Tony's barrier as though it were glass and crushes both of his legs when he tries to flee. With Mantis dead and the faction breaking apart, Tony offers glathrium, crystals, or anything else in exchange for treatment and removal of the poison. The narrative subsequently identifies him as vice leader but explains that the rank brought less respect than Wevil and Hana received because Tony habitually supported Mantis instead of challenging his abuses. Whether Tony was healed or joined the former Parasites who entered the Cursed faction is not individually established. (Chapters 695, 697, and 700–702)

The name is not unique in the corpus. A man accompanying Mona in Chapter 597 has no stated connection to the Parasites, while Chapter 738 applies “Tony” once to a blond Pure agent otherwise introduced as Rony and Agent 64. Their different affiliations and absent continuity mean neither is merged into the Parasites vice leader here. (Chapters 597 and 738)

Appearance and personality

Tony is distinguished by large eyes; the corpus supplies no stable description of his hair, clothing, age, or build. He is boastful when he expects the Parasites to have an advantage, quick to search for an easier opponent when his ability is poorly matched, and openly desperate once escape is impossible. His loyalty to Mantis is presented less as principled devotion than as the conduct of a yes-man who would not moderate the leader's treatment of the faction. (Chapters 688–690, 697, and 700–702)

Reflective barrier

Tony can raise a barrier and describes his ability through its demonstrated matchup: it is best suited to reflecting elemental powers. That specialisation does not provide comparable resistance to direct physical force. Quinn breaks through the barrier with a shoulder-led charge without needing to punch it, after which Tony has no shown defensive answer. The corpus does not specify its range, duration, resource cost, or whether the barrier can reflect non-elemental ranged attacks. (Chapters 690 and 697)

Tony has enough faction standing to take part in the Parasites' organised duel, but no separate weapon skill, soul weapon, or later progression is established. His attempt to change targets when faced with strength and his immediate retreat after the barrier fails show tactical awareness constrained by poor judgment and limited options. Relationships

• Mantis: Tony serves as Mantis's vice leader and consistently backs him. This loyalty makes Tony useful to the leader but costs him the rank-and-file respect given to members who argued for earlier antidote doses. (Chapters 688, 695, and 700–702)
• Wevil and Hana: The two fight beside Tony but are more trusted by the Parasites. After Mantis dies, Wevil presses the injured Tony to acknowledge that the old faction is finished. (Chapters 688, 695, and 700–702)
• Quinn: Quinn exposes the central limitation of Tony's barrier, breaks his legs when he flees, and leaves Tony bargaining for medical help and survival. (Chapters 697 and 700)
• Sil: Tony selects Sil as an apparently easy opponent after deciding Nate's strength is a bad matchup. The corpus does not show a completed exchange between them. (Chapter 690)
