Samantha

Samantha is an Earthborn head general raised as Oscar's daughter and successor, not the Cursed faction strategist Sam. She becomes a key link between human and vampire forces, chooses transformation into a Draugr during the Dalki war, and later builds the Vampire Corps with her husband Fex before Erin kills her during the millennial conflicts. (Chapters 957, 1127–1140, 1483–1485, 1704–1705, and 2336)

Biography

Earthborn head general

Samantha first appears as one of the Earthborn head generals at the unified military academy. When two fellow generals accuse the Cursed faction of unprovoked aggression, she gives Oscar the more accurate account even though she did not see every action that preceded the clash. She remains wary of “Hardy,” Quinn's disguise, but revises her judgment as evidence accumulates and advises the others to stop provoking someone they cannot understand or defeat. (Chapters 957–998)

Her command is grounded in personal combat rather than rank alone. She leads troops during Dalki attacks, uses terrain and constructed earth weapons to restrain enemies, and agrees to work with the disguised Fex after their shelter is isolated. When his blood-string needle temporarily links their movement, she accepts the risk and lets him direct her nine-tailed earth construct against a Dalki. After he is wounded, she gives him her blood despite not yet understanding that he is a vampire, prioritising the only chance to save their soldiers. (Chapters 1011–1024)

Oscar's fall and the coalition war

Oscar's catastrophic injuries leave Samantha guarding his treatment room and resisting the possibility of losing the man she regards as her father. She permits Richard Eno to take Oscar only after he promises a form of survival, a choice that returns Oscar in an undead body but leaves the nature of that recovery outside her control. When Oscar's demon-tier weapon is recovered, Samantha rejects the Board's expected claim on her behalf and supports giving it to the Cursed faction because she does not believe she can use it to defeat One Horn. (Chapters 1137–1140, 1181, and 1248–1252)

Her relationship with Fex grows through those battles. In a virtual match she demands that he fight seriously; he defeats her earth constructs and impulsively confesses his feelings. Their relationship begins to develop, while frustration with her own limits and fear of losing more people lead Samantha to ask Quinn to transform her. Quinn explains that subclass outcomes are uncertain, and Samantha accepts the risk as her own decision rather than waiting for Fex's approval. (Chapters 1424–1427, 1469, and 1483–1485)

Transformation and the end of the Dalki war

Quinn's ritual makes Samantha a Draugr, an undead B-class subclass. Fex is angry that Quinn acted before telling him because an unfavourable subclass could have altered or destroyed the person he loved, but Samantha's choice stands and she begins learning her altered body. Later evidence identifies her as having evolved into a Great Draugr; the corpus does not narrate when or how that evolution occurs. (Chapters 1483–1485 and 2336)

As the coalition advances, Samantha continues acting as an Earthborn commander rather than abandoning her human allies. She and Mona deliver One Horn's five-spike blood to vampire forces so they can breach fortified Dalki positions, and she fights beside Oscar, Sach, Linda, and Fex during the final campaign. Her new durability does not make her equal to Graham's transformed body, and she obeys Fex's order to withdraw with Quinn and the less effective combatants when remaining would only expose them to instant death. Vampire Corps and death

Samantha later marries Fex and helps establish the Vampire Corps, creating an institution intended to connect and organise the vampire and human communities after the war. Their son Andy inherits Draugr traits and the thirteenth-family ability, but his later evolution is his own development rather than a power Samantha is shown using. (Chapter 2336)

During the prolonged wars against Laxmus, Pure, and other divided factions, Samantha is killed by Erin. The loss removes a major bridge between the vampires and human forces and contributes to Fex eventually entering deep sleep. The corpus reports the killer and consequence retrospectively but never shows the encounter, explains Erin's motive, or establishes whether Samantha was fighting Laxmus's forces when Erin intervened. Her status is therefore definitively deceased while the circumstances remain unresolved. (Chapters 1704–1705)

Appearance and personality

Samantha is a young woman with long hair who wears an Earthborn military uniform during her service as a head general. She is twenty-four during the Dalki-war coalition period. The corpus gives little further physical description and does not provide a detailed account of how her appearance changes as a Draugr or Great Draugr. (Chapters 1137 and 1252)

She is observant, candid with superiors, and willing to revise her position when facts contradict institutional pride. Grief and self-doubt make her impatient with her human limitations, but her major decisions remain directed toward collective survival: she gives Fex blood, surrenders the claim to Oscar's weapon, accepts personal transformation, and supplies vampire armies with the resource needed to continue the war. (Chapters 957–998, 1021, 1250, 1483–1485, and 1530)

Powers and abilities

Earth manipulation

Samantha's human ability lets her lift, shape, and control earth with exceptional precision. She can assemble a moving dragon-like sculpture, form cutting tools from the ground, and create multiple large tails or serpentine extensions that attack from different angles. Her large MC-cell reserve reflects both training and the aptitude expected of Oscar's daughter. (Chapters 957, 1021, and 1427)

Repeated or large constructions deplete those cells. After extended fighting she cannot continue against a fresh Dalki without help, and even the hardened tips of her soul-weapon-enhanced tails shatter against a sufficiently strong two-spike Dalki. In virtual reality, where her soul weapon is unavailable, she can reproduce the earthen tails but not their special sharp tips. (Chapters 1021, 1121–1122, and 1427)

Soul weapon

Samantha's soul weapon adds hardened, pointed ends to the nine tails she forms with her earth ability. The extensions can strike simultaneously and are dangerous enough to be central to Fex's plan against a Dalki. Fex's blood-string needle allows him to use Samantha as a puppet and coordinate the construct with his restraints, but that precision belongs to their temporary link; it is not evidence that Samantha possesses the Sanguinis string ability herself. (Chapters 1021 and 1122)

Draugr transformation

Quinn's blood ritual changes Samantha from a human into a Draugr subclass, and later retrospective evidence calls her a Great Draugr. Great Draugrs possess enhanced strength and can change their form and size; the same source connects the line to blood aura. Samantha's transformed state also lets her endure battlefield conditions that would have overwhelmed her former body. (Chapters 1483–1485, 1507, and 2336)

The corpus does not give Samantha a complete transformation scene after the ritual, a named Great Draugr form, or a personal demonstration of every trait later used by Andy. Those later capabilities cannot all be projected backward onto her. Her precise progression, costs, weaknesses, and final combat condition before Erin kills her remain unknown. (Chapters 1704–1705 and 2336)

Command and coalition work

Samantha is a trained general who coordinates soldiers, assesses opponents without hiding fear, and understands when political ownership should yield to battlefield utility. Her most consequential strategic actions are authorising Oscar's unconventional treatment, transferring the demon-tier weapon claim to the Cursed faction, and distributing five-spike Dalki blood to allied vampires. (Chapters 957, 1181, 1250–1252, and 1530)

Relationships

• Oscar: Oscar raises Samantha as his daughter and is expected to consider her as a successor. His injuries and apparent death drive several of her later choices, including accepting Eno's intervention and seeking greater power.
• Fex: Samantha and Fex meet as disguised allies, save one another during a Dalki attack, and grow into partners. They marry, establish the Vampire Corps, and have Andy.
• Quinn: Samantha moves from suspicion of Quinn's disguise to trusting his faction with Oscar's weapon and asking Quinn to transform her, despite the subclass risks he explains.
• Erin: Erin kills Samantha during the later era. The corpus preserves the fact but not the motive or encounter.
• Sach: Sach serves beside Samantha as a senior Earthborn commander and helps her protect Oscar's legacy and maintain the coalition.

Items
