Prima Killton
Prima Killton is the twelfth vampire family leader who supports Bryce's kingship and later serves as one of his Royal Knights. Known as the fastest vampire of his generation, Prima combines precise rapier work with an ability that increases his speed after successive successful hits. His loyalty to Bryce and his family's place in the settlement repeatedly put him against the Punisher Arthur, who ultimately kills him during a targeted attack on the twelfth castle. (Chapters 465–481, 874–944, 1123, and 1329–1335)
Biography
Twelfth leader and opponent of the Punishers
Prima appears at Fex's public execution as the twelfth family leader. When the rescue attempt begins, he identifies the limits of Xander's mist and joins Bryce and Kyle against Arthur, activating his Blood Weapon and relying on rapid rapier thrusts. Arthur blocks every strike, wounds Prima with his own surrendered weapon, and defeats all three leaders without killing them. The encounter establishes both Prima's status among the fastest vampires and his dependence on landing the first hit against an opponent who can deny his ability's growth. (Chapters 465–481)
Prima remains among the leaders opposed to saving Fex and recommends a replacement sixth leader partly so the candidate can display his strength. He later warns that the tenth family will bring trouble. These choices align him with strict family authority and against challenges to the council's existing order rather than with an independent vendetta against Quinn. (Chapters 519–520, 527, and 706–720)
Supporting Bryce and becoming a Royal Knight
During the leadership crisis, Prima protects Suzan from Quinn's attack and votes for Bryce to become king. Bryce appoints Prima and Kyle as Royal Knights, requiring Prima to leave direct leadership of the twelfth family. He serves at Bryce's side, attacks Leo during Alex's rescue, and is later paired with Paul against an original eighth-family leader. Cindy knocks him unconscious, but he survives and resumes duty. (Chapters 873–882 and 900–923)
After the battle, Prima assists Bryce with the blood book and remains present when Kim is chosen as the new twelfth leader. The corpus later identifies him as “Prima Kilton,” an ex-leader and Royal Knight; this is treated as a spelling variant of Killton. Kim Prima is his successor and a separate person, despite using Prima as a family name and wielding a similar rapier. (Chapters 935–945 and 1123)
Arthur's attack on the twelfth castle
Silver, Leo, and Erin plan to question Prima about Bryce, but Arthur reaches the twelfth throne room first and threatens Kim. Prima returns distressed at seeing her endangered and attacks immediately. His improved base speed lets him press Arthur before the shadow can cover his weapon, but every thrust still misses; because his ability requires successful hits, Arthur prevents him from building further speed. (Chapters 1329–1333)
Prima accepts help from the disguised Leo, Erin, and Silver when their attacks can clear Arthur's shadow. He hesitates only when Arthur activates an unfamiliar Blood Weapon, then joins their coordinated charge. Arthur traps him long enough for Leo's protection to fail, surrounds his feet with slowing shadow, and cuts through his body. Prima dies in the throne room, and Bryce receives confirmation that both his Royal Knight and the twelfth family leader have been killed; the latter reference is to Kim, not a second title held by Prima at death. (Chapters 1333–1335)
Appearance and personality
Prima is a male vampire who carries a small, thin rapier and dresses with the formal bearing expected of a family leader and Royal Knight. The corpus emphasises movement more than fixed physical traits: his hand appears to make a single thrust when he has actually made ten, and later he crosses the throne room almost instantly. No reliable hair, eye, age, or height description is supplied. (Chapters 465, 480–481, 915, and 1333)
He values class, hierarchy, and visible strength. Prima criticises surprise attacks as dishonourable even while fighting three against one, pushes a newly appointed leader to prove himself, and reacts fiercely when the royal court or Kim is threatened. Defeat makes him train and improve, but does not make him reconsider his allegiance to Bryce. In his final battle he is cautious enough to recognise the danger of shadow and Blood Weapons, yet loyalty draws him into a coordinated attack despite that fear. (Chapters 480–481, 519–520, 874–880, and 1333–1334)
Powers and abilities
Speed-growth ability
Prima's ability increases his speed after each successful hit made within a limited period. This creates a compounding advantage if he can maintain contact, and it complements rapid rapier combinations; by the later settlement conflict he is known as the fastest vampire alive in his generation. Its activation condition is also its main limitation. Arthur blocks or evades every direct strike, and hits against shadow clones do not count as successful living targets, preventing the increase from starting. The effect also appears to lapse if he cannot keep landing hits, although the corpus does not state the exact duration or numerical increase. (Chapters 481, 1333–1334, and 1354–1357)
Rapier combat and blood projection
Prima uses a rapier with exceptional precision, turning what observers perceive as one thrust into ten and targeting gaps before an opponent can respond. At range he can send a narrow, arrow-shaped blood attack from the rapier's point. That projectile is slightly slower than his physical thrust and can be avoided by an opponent capable of matching his speed. His technique is therefore strongest at close range after securing the first hit, while shadow fields and superior strength can trap or disarm him. (Chapters 480–481, 915, and 1333–1334)
Blood Weapon
Prima can activate a Blood Weapon form of his rapier, turning its rounded guard from silver to blood-red. He brings it out against Arthur at the execution and recognises Arthur's later weapon as another Blood Weapon, but the supplied chapters do not name or demonstrate a distinct active skill belonging to Prima's weapon. Its presence should therefore not be conflated with Bryce's sword, Kyle's cape, the blood book Prima carries for Bryce, or Arthur's trapping blade. (Chapters 480–481, 935, and 1334)
Vampire physiology
As a family leader and later Royal Knight, Prima has the speed, strength, senses, healing, and blood-aura control of a high-ranking vampire. He survives Arthur stabbing his leg and recovers from Cindy knocking him unconscious. Those traits do not overcome catastrophic bodily destruction: Arthur's diagonal cut bisects him and kills him immediately. (Chapters 481, 915–923, and 1334–1335)
Relationships
- Bryce: Prima votes for Bryce and accepts appointment as his Royal Knight, becoming one of the king's constant attendants and combat defenders. Bryce reacts with fury when Arthur kills him. (Chapters 874–880, 900–944, 1123, and 1335)
- Arthur: Arthur defeats Prima at Fex's execution after denying him a successful hit. Years later, Prima has improved and understands the shadow's danger, but Arthur again prevents his ability from activating and kills him as one of the targets on his list. (Chapters 480–481 and 1332–1335)
- Leo: Prima first attacks Leo while defending Bryce's execution platform. In the final battle, Leo clears the shadow from Prima's path and calls him into a joint attack on Arthur, but cannot sustain the protection that would let Prima escape. (Chapters 915–919 and 1333–1334)
- Silver and Erin: The two enter the twelfth castle intending to investigate Prima, then side with him when Arthur attacks. Their coordination creates an opening, but all three are unable to stop Arthur from killing him. (Chapters 1329–1335)
- Kim Prima: Kim succeeds Prima as twelfth leader and is a separate character rather than an alias or later form. Prima's distress when Arthur threatens her indicates a close family bond, but the source does not state the exact relationship. (Chapters 944–945 and 1329–1333)
