Xiao Sun, full name Sun Xiaojun, is the timid apartment resident whose nature as a cursed seed brings misfortune to every faction trying to use him. He is distinct from Doctor Sun, the scarred night doctor who separately sabotages the hospital's false treatment.

Biography

Misfortune in the Ghost Fetus's apartment

Xiao Sun appears in Xiang Nuan's door-world as a frightened young resident whom both tenants and outsiders repeatedly misread. His curse causes plans around him to fail in unpredictable ways, but he does not share the cruelty of the Ghost Fetus or the apartment murderers. By trusting Chen Ge and trying to help even when he barely understands the conflict, Xiao Sun survives the infighting and joins the House of Horrors. Chen values precisely the trait that frightens everyone else: enemies who hide perfectly can still make mistakes when Xiao Sun is nearby. (Chapters 1077–1100, 1114–1135)

Chen trains Xiao Sun in acting, psychology, medicine, and the identity of Patient 101, then sends him into the Cursed Hospital through its Chi-surname network. The hospital director recognizes another cursed seed and begins grooming him as a successor, giving Xiao Sun access no conventional spy could earn. During the final battle, Xiao Sun warns Chen about the director's goal, rescues the blue-raincoat child and living captives, and persuades non-smilers to desert. Afterward, he rejects returning to the Haunted House and chooses to rebuild a hospital that treats pain rather than creates it, becoming Hospital Director Sun without surrendering his separate identity or moral agency. Appearance and personality

Xiao Sun is a young male spirit who often appears timid, transparent, and uncertain of his own usefulness. Torture at the hospital leaves permanent scars carved into his face, neck, and soul. He is self-doubting but kind, loyal, and capable of brave deception when other lives depend on him. (Chapters 1077–1100, 1135–1160, 1206–1209)

Skills and supernatural abilities

As a cursed seed, Xiao Sun naturally carries misfortune and has unusual compatibility with the hospital's curse system. The effect is structural rather than a precisely controlled attack: hidden enemies, plans, and cursed arrangements become unstable around him, while his affinity lets him pass as a suitable hospital successor.
