Doctor Sun

Doctor Sun is a scarred night doctor who works inside the Cursed Hospital while secretly protecting Chen Ge. He is a separate character from Xiao Sun, the young apartment resident who later becomes the hospital's new director.

Biography

Sabotaging the false treatment

Doctor Sun joins Chen Ge's night treatment as an apparently obedient hospital employee, but immediately conceals a cursed pill between his fingers instead of forcing Chen to swallow it. His six knocks identify him as the person who has been signaling through the door, and his carefully phrased ghost stories guide Chen toward the truth without exposing the betrayal to the other doctors. As the false world expands beyond the treatment room, Sun manipulates events just enough to preserve doubt, supports Zuo Han's escape, and later risks a direct visit to warn Chen that the hospital has detected Zhang Ya's awakening. The accumulating punishment leaves his face covered in scars, but he continues the deception until open resistance becomes possible. (Chapters 1172–1192)

During the battle at the Cursed Hospital, Doctor Sun returns carrying glass jars that contain crucial parts of Chen's former body and consciousness despite orders to flee. He pretends to obey Doctor Yue, then drives a mirror shard into the doctor's back and delivers the jars to Chen. He also reports that he moved living captives to safety and explains how the jars power the false city. His betrayal helps fracture the hospital director's control and confirms that the ambiguous night doctor has chosen Chen's side, not merely another faction within the hospital. (Chapters 1195–1200)

Appearance and personality

Doctor Sun wears a white coat and initially maintains an expressionless, controlled manner. By the time he reaches the House of Horrors, his neck and face are so scarred that he is difficult to recognize. He is clever, secretive, urgent, and willing to appear cruel or insane while undercover. Warmth toward the people he protects remains hidden behind carefully staged ambiguity. (Chapters 1172–1196)

Skills and supernatural abilities

Doctor Sun understands the Cursed Hospital's pills, treatments, curses, doors, brain mazes, and false-memory architecture. He can guide Chen into a brain maze through patterned knocking and produces effects that suggest unusual psychological or hypnotic talent, though no formal rank is assigned. His most important skill is covert planning: he passes information, alters treatment, protects captives, and times his betrayal without revealing himself prematurely. (Chapters 1172–1196)
