Red Dragon
The Red Dragon is Hundred Shots's unique living dragon companion, not one of the generic red dragons encountered elsewhere in Rebirth of the Legendary Guardian. Hatched from an egg that Hundred Shots finds by accident, the dragon grows from a Level 0 baby into a Holy-tier flying battle mount whose Chaos-damage breath and Godly Dragon Transformation define its rider's late-game combat style. (Chapters 13, 193, 210, 692, and 765–766)
Biography
Regional War and World Competition
Zhang Yang first mentions the Red Dragon while recalling Hundred Shots's future from the previous timeline: the otherwise ordinary Beast Hunter becomes the top-ranked specialist after obtaining a Baby Red Dragon that no other Hunter can duplicate. The present timeline eventually fulfills that possibility in Chapter 692. Hundred Shots is thrown into a cave while two monsters shake a remote jungle, finds a dragon egg beside him, and watches a red baby dragon hatch when he picks it up. This chance encounter, rather than ordinary Beast Taming, explains why the many Hunters who later attempt to copy him fail. (Chapters 13, 193, 210, and 692)
The newborn starts at Level 0, then rapidly reaches Level 146 because pets require less experience than players. Its tier improves automatically as it levels, and its normal Dragon Breath already spreads Chaos damage across multiple targets. Because it acquires Godly Dragon Transformation at Level 100, the dragon soon fights beside the two Phoenix Pets in high-level raids. When Hundred Shots first displays the transformation against Pauillac, the dragon expands to hundreds of meters, repeatedly bypasses the boss's defenses with Dragon Breath, and raises Hundred from last to third in the party's damage ranking. (Chapters 692, 696–697)
The Red Dragon becomes a central part of Lone Desert Smoke's regional warfare. Its transformed breath helps clear Ghostface Monkey packs, and Hundred Shots can sequence his own Inheritance Transformation with the dragon's independent transformation to sustain transformation-grade power across a long operation. Alongside the Phoenixes, the dragon destroys hundreds of enemies in mass battles, although at Level 165 its then-Mythical tier performs below Zhang's higher-level Phoenix under level suppression. (Chapters 716, 718, 740, and 753)
At Level 170, the dragon advances to Holy tier and enters the second World League Championship as both pet and flying mount. Tournament rules forbid its long-cooldown transformation, but its ordinary breath remains powerful enough that Hundred Shots defeats Captain America through practiced pet-led kiting. The dragon later transforms to defeat the Minotaur in a solo trial and remains active in the final invasion, where it roars, grows enormous, lifts Hundred Shots into the air, and charges into the monster army with two transformed Phoenixes. (Chapters 765–766, 794, and 829)
Appearance and personality
The Red Dragon first hatches as a small red baby. Its mature untransformed form is likened to a conspicuous red gem, while Godly Dragon Transformation expands it into a dragon hundreds of meters long with beautiful scales covering its body. At maximum battle size it can pick up Hundred Shots and carry him through the air, visibly distinguishing this individual companion from ordinary dragon monsters. (Chapters 692, 697, 765, and 829)
The dragon does not speak, but it is responsive, disciplined, and tactically aware. It attacks or transforms on Hundred Shots's commands, immediately turns back toward a threat after recovering from a stun, and stops breathing at Captain America while he is invincible rather than wasting attacks. It also roars and physically carries its rider into battle. These behaviors support an intelligent combat-animal personality, but the corpus does not provide independent dialogue, motives, or a personal name beyond Red Dragon. (Chapters 697, 716, 766, and 829)
Abilities and gameplay
The Red Dragon is both a Hunter pet and a flying battle mount. Its tier advances with level: it is described as Mythical at Level 165 and improves to Holy at Level 170, while “Legendary Beast” denotes its exceptional creature class rather than a fixed equipment tier. At Level 170 its displayed profile gives 1,277,730 health, 17,660 defense, and a two-second physical-attack interval whose hits inflict Chaos damage. (Chapters 752–753, 762, and 765)
Dragon Breath
Dragon Breath is the dragon's primary attack. Even before transformation, its nominally single-target breath spreads broadly enough to act as an area attack, and its Chaos damage cannot be reduced by ordinary Fire Resistance. In the World League match, the flame stream reaches roughly fifteen meters and continues to pressure Captain America while Hundred Shots kites him. (Chapters 692 and 766)
Under Godly Dragon Transformation, Dragon Breath is described as ignoring Defense, Magic Defense, and target level. A later pack-clearing example places each transformed breath at up to 200,000 damage across targets in range with one use every two seconds, allowing the dragon and a Phoenix to erase five million health from a Ghostface Monkey group in roughly twenty-five seconds. The corpus nevertheless reports that the Level 165, Mythical-tier dragon performs below Zhang's better-developed Phoenix during a level-suppressed fight, so the earlier mitigation-ignoring description should not be generalized to every component of its damage at every stage. (Chapters 697, 716, and 753)
Godly Dragon Transformation
The Red Dragon acquires Godly Dragon Transformation at Level 100. The skill enlarges it dramatically and boosts maximum health, attack, and defense at a power level compared to a B-class Inheritance Transformation. Because Hundred Shots and the dragon transform independently, the rider can use his own window first and reserve the dragon's for another extended period of enhanced combat. (Chapters 692, 697, and 718)
Transformation is powerful but restricted by availability. The World League bans skills with cooldowns longer than half an hour, preventing the dragon from transforming during the championship; without it, the dragon relies on steady normal attacks rather than a large offensive skill. The skill also does not prevent crowd control: Captain America can Charge and stun the dragon, buying time to attack Hundred Shots directly. (Chapters 765–766)
Pet-led kiting and flight
Hundred Shots practices a tactic in which he slows and escapes from an opponent while the Red Dragon pursues and supplies nearly all the damage. The dragon recovers from control, chooses valid attack windows, and kills a high-health professional opponent in four hits while its rider concentrates on distance management. This tactic depends on keeping Hundred Shots alive; an enemy who bypasses or disables the dragon can still win by killing the Hunter, regardless of the pet's tier. (Chapter 766)
As a flying battle mount, the dragon can carry Hundred Shots in ordinary form and lift him after transforming to enormous size. Flight adds transport and aerial engagement to its damage role, but competition arenas may forbid mounted starts even while allowing a Hunter's pet to remain beside him. (Chapters 193, 765, 810, and 829)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Godly Dragon Transformation | 692 | At Level 100, unlocks an independent transformation comparable in scale to a B-class inheritance form. |
| Mythical tier — Level 165 | 752–753 | Reaches the explicitly documented Mythical stage, though level suppression still limits it against stronger enemies. |
| Holy tier — Level 170 | 762 | Automatically advances to Holy quality with stronger displayed statistics. |
Relationships
- Hundred Shots: The dragon's rider, trainer, and combat partner. Hundred hatches it by accident, levels it from infancy, commands its transformation and breath, and restructures his professional tactics around letting it attack while he controls distance. (Chapters 692, 697, and 765–766)
- Zhang Yang: The first person to anticipate the dragon's importance and one of the few who understands how exceptional its acquisition is. Zhang protects Hundred's developmental path, then coordinates the dragon's transformation with other long-cooldown resources in raids and regional war. (Chapters 13, 109, 210, 544, and 718)
- Phoenix Pet: The Red Dragon's closest companion and mechanical comparison. The dragon trades the Phoenix's Fire damage and resurrection for less reducible Chaos damage; together with two Phoenixes, it forms Lone Desert Smoke's recurring legendary-creature strike group. (Chapters 692, 696, 716, 740, and 829)
- Fatty Han: A fellow Beastmaster whose Phoenix frequently fights beside the dragon. Fatty and Hundred can alternate their own transformations with their pets' transformations, giving the guild two long-duration Hunter-and-creature power cycles. (Chapters 692, 718, and 740)
- Captain America: A championship opponent who tries to neutralize the dragon with Charge and reach Hundred Shots directly. The stun briefly works, but the dragon recovers and its sustained breath helps decide the match. (Chapters 765–766)
Items
- Dragon egg: Found beside Hundred Shots after he falls into a cave in a remote jungle. The egg hatches when he picks it up, producing the living baby Red Dragon; no quest item, capture tool, or ordinary Beast Taming process is named. (Chapter 692)
- Personal equipment: No weapon, armor, saddle, or accessory belonging to the Red Dragon is identified in the supplied corpus. Its documented growth comes from levels, automatic tier advancement, and Godly Dragon Transformation rather than equipped items. (Chapters 692, 753, 762, and 765)
