Clear Lotus

Clear Lotus, also called the Ice Whisperer, is a former Flame Wolves Army Wind Ranger whom Terpot Ryhar converts into a Spectre. After Zhang Yang defeats her as an Underground Tower boss, a spectral incarnation of Clear Lotus becomes his recurring assassin companion, combining rapid dual-wielded attacks with one of his most important early defensive skills. Biography

Lone Desert Smoke and Soaring Swords

Clear Lotus initially guards the fourth floor of the Underground Tower as a Level 36 Gray-Silver boss. She retains the appearance of a living elf despite her conversion into a Spectre, identifies the floor as restricted, and attacks Zhang Yang with twin daggers, fast physical strikes, and Spectre's Decay poison. Zhang defeats her after a prolonged solo battle. Among the first-kill rewards is a Silver-tier Spectre Assassin servant modeled directly on Clear Lotus, bringing a combat manifestation of the defeated ranger into his service. (Chapters 114–116)

The summoned Clear Lotus immediately helps Zhang clear the tower's ranged monsters and survive Barga's Breaking Shot. She later fights independently within his commands: after Substitute's stun ends, she uses Shadow Walk to appear behind Not Telling My Name and resumes her assault. Her early damage is meaningful enough to help kill bosses, defeat an undergeared priest in seconds, reinforce Merlinda, and create the aggro Zhang needs to keep Han Ying Xue alive. She also attacks Zhang Yang on command when a harmless hit is needed to break Dazed, demonstrating utility beyond simply striking his chosen enemy. (Chapters 116–117, 123–125, 137–153)

As Zhang's level rises, Clear Lotus's role shifts from damage dealer to defensive specialist. Substitute grants Zhang five seconds of immunity, transfers or clears harmful effects, and appears in his survival sequences against players, bosses, and mass-control mechanics. He uses it to shed accumulated Deafening Roar stacks, clear Concussion Shot and Dragon Intimidation, protect himself while using Sacrifice on Daffodil Daydream, and survive Knightmare's berserk damage alongside Shield Wall, Berserker's Heal, and Rearm. Clear Lotus cannot gain levels and remains Level 36, so her attacks eventually become negligible against late-game targets even though Substitute remains valuable. By Chapter 385, the thirty-minute summon cooldown makes bringing her out for a single Substitute inefficient, and Zhang replaces her with a newer servant. Appearance and personality

As the Ice Whisperer, Clear Lotus is a slender, fair-skinned female elf with pointed ears and bright eyes whose high-rank Spectre state preserves her living appearance. Her servant incarnation wears a tightly bound leopard-patterned leather top and matching short skirt, leaving her long pale legs exposed, and fights with a dagger in each hand. That incarnation is described as a direct copy of the original boss rather than a differently designed creature. (Chapters 114 and 116)

Her original conversion leaves her hostile and duty-bound: she warns that the tower is restricted, attacks intruders, snarls when pressured, and wails when defeated. As a summoned companion she is silent, responsive to Zhang's commands, and tactically self-directed enough to recover from control, reposition behind an enemy, and continue fighting. The text does not reveal whether the servant preserves the original ranger's memories or free will, so obedience and combat discipline are better supported than any broader personality claim. Abilities and gameplay

Clear Lotus's servant form is a Level 36 Silver-tier dual-wielding assassin with 3,600 health. Her main-hand attack is stronger but slower than her secondary strike, and her overall damage is compared to that of a Level 36 player in Level 30 Green-Copper equipment. Silver-tier servants remain fixed rather than leveling with their summoner, last five minutes per manifestation, and share a thirty-minute summon cooldown with the owner's other servants. Assassin techniques

Stealth lowers the chance that enemies will detect Clear Lotus but reduces her movement speed by fifty percent and has a ten-second cooldown. Shadow Walk teleports her to the back of a target within ten meters, increases the skill's damage by twenty percent, and has a thirty-second cooldown. Backstab consumes fifty Energy to strike from behind for 150% of her main-hand damage and requires a dagger. These skills let her open from concealment and maintain rear positioning, as shown when she recovers from Substitute and immediately Shadow Walks behind Not Telling My Name. (Chapters 116, 123, and 248)

Her rapid attacks supply useful early pressure, aggro, and finishing damage, but armor exposes the limits of a dual-wielding build. Against a heavily armored skeleton, her secondary weapon deals only one point of physical damage, leaving her primary strike and skills to provide meaningful output. The larger limitation is progression: because she remains Level 36, level gaps eventually reduce both weapons to trivial damage and turn her from a damage companion into a delivery mechanism for Substitute. Substitute

Substitute transfers Zhang's debuffs to Clear Lotus and makes him immune to damage and control for five seconds. The protection ends early if Clear Lotus dies, as occurs when she absorbs a lethal shockwave. Its five-minute cooldown means it can be used only once during her five-minute manifestation, while her thirty-minute summon cooldown prevents repeated short-interval use across encounters. The transfer component makes Substitute more than a conventional invulnerability. It nullifies active negative effects, can move forty stacks of Deafening Roar onto Clear Lotus, restores movement after Concussion Shot, and removes Dragon Intimidation. The immunity window also gives healers time to recover Zhang or lets him cover an ally with Sacrifice. These interactions explain why the skill remains useful long after Clear Lotus's damage becomes obsolete, while the long summon cycle explains why Zhang ultimately retires her. • Zhang Yang: Clear Lotus first fights him as an enthralled tower guardian and later becomes his recurring spectral companion. He directs her attacks, builds survival plans around Substitute, and eventually replaces her only after fixed-level scaling and the summon cooldown make her inefficient. • Merlinda: Clear Lotus fights beside Merlinda during the Underground Tower campaign, adding physical pressure while Merlinda supplies healing and magic. Their combined contribution helps Zhang push through bosses he would otherwise struggle to damage quickly enough. (Chapters 124–126)
