Rosalyn

Rosalyn is Brek's crown princess and an exceptional mage who gives up succession to pursue magic on her own terms.

Biography

Henituse estate and new alliances

Rosalyn is the crown princess and designated heir of the Kingdom of Brek, as well as a gifted mage who has concealed part of her ability from the royal court. An assassination attempt during her journey through Rowoon forces her to reveal that hidden strength. Traveling with Choi Han, she helps the feverish Lark survive his first berserk transformation and promises to protect him as family (Chapters 7–9).

Rosalyn has little desire for the throne and intends to pursue magic instead. Her meeting with Cale's household gives her allies who respect that choice rather than treating her only as a royal successor.

Plaza terror and the southern expedition

During the terror incident in Rowoon's capital, Rosalyn detects the bombs' mana, moves the devices away from the crowd, and helps shield Cale Henituse when his power recoils against him. She continues south with the group, contributing magical detection, communication, transportation, and battlefield support (Chapters 10, 14–17).

Hais Islands and the Magic Tower

Rosalyn becomes central to plans involving the fallen Magic Tower. Her knowledge of mana and magical institutions makes her both an operational mage and a prospective leader for other mages. She is expected to coordinate the combined mage forces of Rowoon and Brek when continental war arrives (Chapters 20–26).

Ancient powers and imperial schemes

Rosalyn formally chooses the life of a free mage over the Brek throne. She studies the ancient dragon Erhaven as he teaches Raon Mir, using the opportunity to broaden her already exceptional technique. She supports Cale's coalition with fire, flight, shields, mana threads, and precise large-scale spellwork while imperial threats become clearer (Chapters 27–39).

Northern war and Death Canyon

At Death Canyon, Rosalyn leads the allied mage brigades and manages a vast reserve of top-grade magic stones. She burns enemy launchers, creates a magical bridge, and makes tactical decisions about crossing and withdrawal. Her command keeps the mages coordinated through the coalition's counterattack and the detonation of Dragon's Rage (Chapters 50–52).

Aftermath and the Mogor crisis

Rosalyn helps force Norland and Askosan to accept responsibility after the war, accompanying Choi Han and Lark in demonstrations that leave the enemy palaces in ruins. Later, acting as a free mage rather than a princess, she leads expatriate Whipper mages on paid leave into the Mogor conflict, backed by Rowoon's supply of magic stones (Chapters 54–55, 59).

Appearance and personality

Rosalyn has brilliant red hair, red lips, and an appearance repeatedly associated with sunlight and a red rose. Her elegance reflects her royal upbringing, but her composure is practical rather than ornamental.

She is cautious, observant, and good-natured. Rosalyn carefully controls what others know about her power, yet she takes decisive risks for people under her protection. Her treatment of Lark reveals a warm, familial side, while her decision to abandon succession shows independence and an uncompromising commitment to magic.

Abilities and powers

High-tier attack magic and mana control

Rosalyn senses and shapes mana with enough precision to detect concealed magic, form crimson threads, and release concentrated or large-area attacks. Fire is a recurring offensive expression, while careful output lets her destroy a selected obstacle or combine with physical fighters against fortifications without wasting the whole field. (Chapters 10, 20, 24–25, 39, 47)

High output consumes mana and may require top-grade stones or time to prepare. Against armies, she distributes casting rather than assuming one mage can maintain every attack, barrier, and movement spell simultaneously.

Flight, teleportation, and barriers

Rosalyn applies flight to individual experts or formations, erects barriers, and operates teleportation circles for rapid movement. At Death Canyon, movement magic turns fighters who cannot naturally fly into an aerial force, while large constructions create routes across otherwise impassable terrain. (Chapters 20, 35, 44, 47, 50–52)

Mass movement is more demanding than carrying one person. Teleportation depends on coordinates and circles, flight requires sustained control, and barriers trade mana for time rather than guaranteeing invulnerability.

Magical command and scholarship

Rosalyn allocates stones, assigns brigades by role, reads enemy formations, and decides when an offensive should advance or withdraw. This turns separate casters into a system: one unit prepares heavy attack, another supplies haste or flight, and commanders preserve enough reserve for the enemy's next phase. (Chapters 41, 44, 47, 51)

Her scholarship also supports a new Mage Tower and cooperation with Whipper expatriates. Leading those mages to defend their former homeland distinguishes magical expertise from the oppressive institution they fled, while acknowledging that reconstruction needs trained people and resources beyond Rosalyn alone. (Chapters 41, 59)

Relationships

  • Cale Henituse: Rosalyn is one of Cale's most trusted magical allies and often turns his unconventional plans into workable operations.
  • Lark: She protects Lark through his first berserk transformation and treats him as family.
  • Choi Han: They travel and fight together from their arrival in Henituse territory onward.
  • Raon Mir: Rosalyn is fascinated by Raon's talent and learns alongside him by observing Erhaven's instruction.
  • Erhaven: His lessons and ancient knowledge offer her rare opportunities to deepen her understanding of magic.

Items

  • Dragon's Rage: Rosalyn knows that Erhaven's buried fire pillars are part of the Death Canyon plan and commands the allied mages around the weapon's detonation (Chapter 51).

Apart from this operation, Rosalyn's effectiveness comes primarily from her own mana, spellcraft, and command ability rather than a personal signature weapon.
