Dragon's Rage

Dragon's Rage is the name given to Erhaven's concealed, large-scale fire-pillar weapon. Cale has the Tiger Tribe install its explosive columns beneath Death Canyon, where it becomes the first stage of his counterattack against the Indomitable Alliance.

History

Concealment beneath Death Canyon

Cale discusses the weapon before the war but keeps its construction secret from most allies. Once he takes command of the northeastern defense, he sends Gashan's tigers into the canyon to install the columns deep beneath the gorge, disguising the work as part of ordinary preparations. (Chapters 37 and 42)

The canyon erupts

When the Indomitable Alliance begins its assault, Cale orders Dragon's Rage activated. The buried columns erupt as a towering wall of fire several levels stronger than the Alchemist's Bell Tower weapon used at Myple Castle. The blast scorches the battlefield and creates the fire that Cale's Fire-Suppressing Water then counters and reshapes into an advantage for the whales. (Chapter 51)

Abilities and properties

  • The installed columns generate a fire pillar large enough to fill a major gorge and strike an army across a broad battlefield. (Chapter 51)
  • Erhaven's design surpasses the Empire's Myple fire weapon, making it both an answer to imperial alchemy and a dragon-made escalation of it. (Chapters 37 and 51)
  • It is a prepared magical incendiary system rather than a reusable personal weapon; the Death Canyon installation is consumed when detonated. (Chapters 42 and 51)
