Undying Underworld Emperor is an ancient unparalleled existence whose pursuit of Chaotic Origin progression makes him the principal late antagonist of the Realm Heart Great Land. Once feared as the land's strongest cultivator, he returns from a failed expedition with a method for refining a half-Chaotic Origin entity called a Death Walker. His willingness to spend nations of souls on that project brings him into sustained conflict with Dong Bo Xue Ying and ends with Xue Ying pursuing him beyond their Origin World.

Biography

Return of the incarnation of death

Long before the First War of the Ancient Nations, Undying Underworld Emperor had already become the Realm Heart Great Land's leading expert through his own strength. He fought other unparalleled existences, created enemies across the land, and became so closely associated with killing that later cultivators called him the incarnation of death. His strength drew the attention of Yuan, who gave him a movement technique and sent him on an expedition seeking advancement into the Chaotic Origin realm. Undying Underworld Emperor left the Realm Heart Great Land because ordinary progress no longer satisfied him, but after eons away he returned without having crossed that boundary. The expedition did not leave him unchanged. He traveled through the Chaotic Origin Dimension, encountered experts and civilizations beyond his homeworld, and learned that innate Chaotic Origin beings could differ enormously from cultivators who mastered Dao step by step. He also perfected a method for refining a low-graded Chaotic Origin corpse into a Death Walker. A Walker he created during that earlier journey served as his half-Chaotic Origin body and saved him from a great enemy, but he had to sacrifice it to escape back to the Realm Heart Great Land. After returning, Undying Underworld Emperor focused on acquiring another complete Chaotic Origin corpse and the ingredients required to awaken and refine it. He secured three final-realm Resentment Spirits from Eternal Night Primogenitor, Origin Blood from Extreme Night Primogenitor, Sacred Fire Stones, Devouring Realm Spiritual Liquid from Insect Ancestor Ba Tuo Chen, and a corpse he had obtained long before. He processed the Origin Blood, fed the corpse spiritual liquid, and activated inscriptions and sealing pillars around it. The remaining requirement was enough sacrificial energy to ignite a new spirituality, after which his perfected method could turn the revived body into a Death Walker. (Chapters 1175 and 1189–1190)

He chose the souls of fifteen nations as that energy source. Undying Underworld Emperor calculated that burning the three Resentment Spirits as a lure and sacrificing the gathered population for roughly twelve days would awaken the corpse, and he considered the loss of one or two percent of the Realm Heart Great Land's people too minor to attract Yuan's intervention. When Emperor Summer, Limitless City Master, and Towering Sky King objected, he refused to change course. Dong Bo Xue Ying, acting as Heaven's Will Daoist, broke that stalemate by targeting the array rather than trying to defeat Undying Underworld Emperor directly. He then tried familial authority, secrecy, promises of future help, and threats against the Ying Shan Clan and Southern Cloud Nation. Refusing to abandon materials already committed to the rite, he lost the burned Resentment Spirits, spiritual liquid, and chance to awaken that corpse when the array was destroyed. Retaliation and the closed path

The failed sacrifice turned his conflict with Xue Ying into personal vengeance. Undying Underworld Emperor killed more than thirty exposed avatars while testing the extent of Xue Ying's escape, then attacked Flying Snow City and threatened to make all its inhabitants die with him. Swordmaster, Insect Ancestor, and Starlight World Master intervened for the people or because of debts to Xue Ying. The emperor suppressed Swordmaster and Insect Ancestor with worlds of dark flame and used ignited Heart Blood to drive back the World Master, but Xue Ying's city arrays and Chaotic Origin Weapon stopped his strongest golden palms. Wounded and unable to penetrate the city's layered defenses, Undying Underworld Emperor withdrew while promising to kill Xue Ying whenever he left that sanctuary. (Chapters 1194–1197)

He pursued that threat indirectly. He publicized Xue Ying's possession of a Chaotic Origin Weapon to attract covetous enemies, incited wars and massacres through subordinates, and personally taunted Xue Ying with the lives lost after the initial rescue. Outside the city, his Death World could suppress Xue Ying's domain, while Xue Ying could not risk a slow defeat that might cost the weapon. This let Undying Underworld Emperor keep pressure on his enemy even though he had failed to conquer Flying Snow City. News from the Broken Teeth Mountain Range eventually changed arrogance into anxiety. Xue Ying's soul techniques could incapacitate Emperors there, and his alliances meant that even escape into the range might bring Great Emperors or Supremes against Undying Underworld Emperor. The emperor approached Xue Ying by incarnation, offered to end their grievance and stop killing if Xue Ying gathered Dark Flowers and secured his entry into the Snake Tooth Corridor, and even offered future service. When Xue Ying explained that no one could simply grant that entry, Undying Underworld Emperor concluded that ordinary cultivation and negotiation offered him no remaining path. He blamed Xue Ying for destroying the complete Death Walker that would have let him compete, then decided to gamble on a simplified version before Xue Ying could reach the final realm. That decision made his methods still more urgent and coercive. He threatened to erase Southern Cloud Capital unless Southern Cloud King gathered a new material list within ten billion years, personally stripped whole cities of souls, and stored them in an inner space for experiments. He believed an incomplete Death Walker could still contend with Great Emperors and planned to perfect one only after preparatory trials gave him a ninety-percent chance of success. Xue Ying entered the underground laboratory after reaching the final realm, and Undying Underworld Emperor immediately understood that his timetable had failed. Xue Ying's final-realm illusory world imposed a greater reduction than the emperor expected, while spear attacks backed by a Chaotic Origin Weapon broke his hands, wounded his body, and revealed that his effective strength had fallen to roughly thirty or forty percent of Xue Ying's. Undying Underworld Emperor ignited more than half of his Metallic Flame Heart Blood, manifested the Sacred Lion Killing Curse, and released collected venomous insects, but none of those methods overcame the combined soul suppression and direct force. Undying Underworld Emperor is described as a handsome young man. In the Realm Heart Great Land he ordinarily wears a luxurious golden robe and a crown, and during the sacrificial preparations he is garbed entirely in gold. During his strongest techniques, his metallic-looking heart burns golden blood, his eyes glow gold, his hands become grand and golden, and gold flames may cover his body; these are activated cultivation effects rather than permanent features. He is proud, calculating, and intensely transactional. He honors sworn exchanges when doing so protects his own heart realm, but designs those agreements to bind others and refuses revision when their circumstances change. Undying Underworld Emperor reaches the final realm in two offensive Daos and is explicitly identified as a final-realm cultivator of the Dao of Death. The supplied text does not name his second Dao. In combat, the ignited blood sends golden energy into his hands, producing palms far stronger than his normal output—enough to exceed Emperor Summer's displayed power and force back Starlight World Master. The technique is internal cultivation rather than an effect of the Death Emperor Crown, although its precise origin is not stated. (Chapters 1192 and 1196)

Each use consumes a finite reserve and cannot be maintained without limit. Undying Underworld Emperor ignites two droplets in succession against Flying Snow City's defenses and later burns more than half his Heart Blood against final-realm Xue Ying. The Death Emperor Crown is Undying Underworld Emperor's supreme-graded secret treasure and the object later used to prove his death.
