Lu Xun

Lu Xun is the most celebrated young teacher at Hongtian Academy when Zhang Xuan begins teaching there. The son of painter Lu Chen, he builds his reputation through disciplined instruction and hopes to become a master teacher's apprentice. That ambition draws him into a Teacher Evaluation against Zhang Xuan, where anxiety over losing leads him to endanger his own students with forbidden pills. His defeat and Zhang Xuan's unexpected recommendation force him to reconsider the difference between prestige and a teacher's responsibility. (Chapters 1, 68–87, 170–176, and 207–226)

Lu Xun subsequently becomes Liu Ling's apprentice and eventually a 2-star master teacher. When Zhang Xuan returns to Tianxuan Kingdom, Lu Xun is again giving popular lectures and training students of his own. He recognizes the gulf between their accomplishments without renewing the old rivalry, showing that his public humiliation became a corrective experience rather than the end of his teaching career. Biography

Hongtian Academy's celebrity teacher

Lu Xun is Hongtian Academy's living signboard, a star teacher whose classes attract the students Zhang Xuan initially hopes to recruit. He has both the advantage of an established reputation and a genuine ability to correct cultivation problems: students whose training previously went awry transfer to him and improve. His larger goal is certification as a master teacher, and the arrival of Liu Ling and two other master teachers appears to offer the apprenticeship that can open that path. (Chapters 1–2, 68, 76–87, and 170–176)

Elder Hong Hao exploits that ambition by encouraging a Teacher Evaluation against Zhang Xuan. Lu Xun accepts and selects students whose strengths counter Zhang Xuan's five disciples, treating the contest as proof of his ability to guide pupils. He studies his opponents, works through the night, and spends heavily on resources. The preparation reflects real diligence, but the contest also becomes bound up with his pride and his desire to impress the visiting master teachers. (Chapters 170–176, 207, and 211–215)

The Teacher Evaluation and its cost

Shortly before the evaluation, Wang Chao supplies Insane Demon Breakthrough Pills. Lu Xun hesitates but gives them to his students and expends his own zhenqi helping all five reach Zhenqi realm. The temporary increase gives them an overwhelming cultivation advantage, but the medicine leaves toxins in their meridians that can damage their future cultivation. Lu Xun believes that he understands the risk and can resolve it later; in practice, he makes his students bear a lasting cost for his immediate reputation. (Chapters 211–215 and 226)

Zhang Xuan's students overturn Lu Xun's planned matchups through resilience, teamwork, and better techniques. After the five contests are lost, Lu Xun personally enters the conflict and is held at spearpoint by Zheng Yang, affected by Zhao Ya's pure-yin zhenqi, and forced to confront how far his judgment has strayed. His frustrated retaliation injures Zheng Yang and deepens the disgrace. The master teachers condemn his use of the forbidden pills, making clear that strong teaching results cannot excuse sacrificing the students' foundations. (Chapters 215–226)

The outcome does not destroy his future. Zhang Xuan asks the visiting master teachers to consider Lu Xun despite his recent conduct, judging his underlying teaching ability to be real. Liu Ling accepts him as an apprentice, and Lu Xun finally recognizes that the rival he tried to defeat had no interest in taking the opportunity from him. The recommendation humbles him more effectively than punishment: he addresses Zhang Xuan with respect and begins pursuing master-teacher certification under a mentor rather than through public comparison. Apprenticeship and a return to teaching

Lu Xun travels with Liu Ling and continues developing his secondary occupation in painting. As Lu Chen's son, he has long been exposed to paintings and can identify technique, conception, and likely provenance; in Tianwu Royal City, he chooses to take the apprentice painter examination instead of dwelling on the revelation that Zhang Xuan has already become a renowned grandmaster. That decision marks a more constructive response to comparison: he returns his attention to the next attainable step on his own path. (Chapters 203–205 and 292–301)

Roughly a year later, Lu Xun has become a 2-star master teacher and again lectures at Hongtian Academy. His classes are crowded, and he has trained Mo Xiao and other students who can analyze or execute advanced martial principles. When Zhang Xuan's party visits in disguise, Lu Xun infers their identity from their extraordinary resources but respects their wish for privacy. He advises Mo Xiao to value his friendship with Zheng Yang rather than turning the reunion into another contest of status. (Chapters 1,854–1,857)

Appearance and personality

Lu Xun is a young man whose composed bearing and polished reputation make him a natural public representative of Hongtian Academy. By the time he returns as a 2-star master teacher, he wears the corresponding two-star robe and conducts himself onstage with a dignified air developed through sustained teaching. He is diligent, ambitious, and legitimately invested in student improvement, but his early self-image depends too heavily on being regarded as the academy's best teacher. That pride makes him susceptible to Hong Hao's provocation and willing to rationalize a dangerous shortcut. He is not incapable of change: once shown the harm and the scale of Zhang Xuan's generosity, he accepts Liu Ling's guidance and later evaluates his former rival without resentment. Abilities and cultivation

Teaching and master-teacher progression

Lu Xun can diagnose errors, reorganize training, and raise the performance of students who struggled under earlier instruction. His careful preparation and matchup analysis are strong enough that even observers sympathetic to Zhang Xuan initially expect him to win the Teacher Evaluation. These strengths earn Zhang Xuan's recommendation and eventually support Lu Xun's advancement to 2-star master teacher. (Chapters 76–87, 170–176, 214–226, and 1,854–1,857)

His early failure reveals the limits of result-oriented teaching. The Insane Demon Breakthrough Pill raises a student's cultivation by a realm but deposits toxins that slow later advancement, and Lu Xun cannot guarantee that he can reverse the damage. His later teaching is more measured: he explains the mechanics and momentum of Mo Xiao's spear art rather than forcing another immediate breakthrough. (Chapters 211–226 and 1,855)

Combat and scholarly occupations

During the Teacher Evaluation, Lu Xun is a strong Pixue realm pinnacle cultivator with a sturdy body and enough combat experience to face several lower-cultivation students together. Their specialized techniques, pure-yin zhenqi, and coordination nevertheless bypass his advantages and trap him. His realm superiority does not protect him against unfamiliar mechanics or a team trained to cover one another's openings. (Chapters 221–224)

Lu Xun also has substantial knowledge of painting and some familiarity with the Way of Tea. Childhood exposure to Lu Chen's work lets him assess artistic conception and identify a painting's likely creator, after which he pursues formal painter certification. These supporting occupations broaden his eye for instruction but do not approach Zhang Xuan's grandmaster-level performance during their early rivalry. (Chapters 203–205 and 292–301)

Relationships

• Zhang Xuan: Lu Xun's early rival and later benefactor. He challenges Zhang Xuan to prove his teaching, loses publicly, and is then recommended by him to Liu Ling.
