Zhuge Haiyan

Zhuge Haiyan is the International Superhuman Association's chief military strategist. Her awakened blessing, Systematic Concepts, lets her process operational data like a computer, making her a central analyst during the Quasar crisis, the search for Q, and the Long Night. Her authority remains constrained by incomplete information, political consequences, and the need to turn extraordinary insight into orders that ordinary forces can execute. Biography

Measuring the Association's new weapons

As head of the Military Strategy Council, Zhuge Haiyan is among the first senior officers to assess the advisers called One and Season. Rather than dismissing their implausible records, she calculates that their presence could raise the Association's military power to 112 percent of its previous level within a year. When Myung Yongha later overwhelms an SS+ monster under Season's direction, she cuts through the control room's panic and declares the field case settled, reinforcing her role as the officer who converts unusual performance into an institutional judgment. The Quasar attacks force Haiyan to work beyond conventional military assumptions. She verifies evidence that clears the Association of responsibility for an embassy explosion, then traces genuine but mismatched equipment found at a terrorist base to government supply chains and the Undetectables. Because the connection still does not explain who benefits, she resists naming the ultimate sponsor without enough evidence and asks Season to expose the larger pattern. She understands his answer as a struggle over the world's political flow, yet objects when Chaliovan Greenrain suggests abandoning restraint in favour of coercive power. (Chapters 251, 257–259)

Hunting an enemy who rewrites loyalties

Haiyan presents the Association with a record of Q's seemingly impossible successes: neutral rankers, state resources, and catastrophe-ranked demons all move in Q's favour. Unable to reconcile those alliances through ordinary incentives, she assigns a 15.5 percent probability to brainwashing and gathers normally dispersed commanders to test the dangerous possibility that the Association itself is compromised. Her decision to bring in Bom as the Soothsayer turns suspicion into an actionable security check rather than allowing unsupported accusations to fracture the command structure. (Chapters 287–288)

When the Edrei investigation produces scattered communications and movement records, Haiyan merges the material into roughly 870 possible locations while connected to twelve computers. Q begins erasing traces almost immediately, so she distributes urgent searches and sends newly recovered footage up the command chain. Once events converge on the Tower of Mages, she anticipates Season's destination and offers a Level 3 mobile suit, though its six-hour travel time makes it useless to him. The suspect found there is Myu, an adult black dragon who denies being Q, leaving Haiyan's single-brainwasher model unconfirmed. Haiyan nevertheless follows the Sovereign's restrictions by giving the captive the largest humane isolation room and concealing both Myu's identity and Season's access; she later refuses to disclose the chamber even to Bom, showing that personal trust does not override command secrecy. Analysis during the Long Night

During the Long Night, Haiyan remains an operational analyst rather than a frontline combatant. After repeated encounters, she identifies that transformed allies behave like zombies: magical germs spread through mana contact, suppress consciousness through the brain and nerves, and amplify instinctive impulses, causing their numbers to grow during close combat. She broadcasts the mechanics across the allied force, allowing Yu Jitae to formalize the name Apocalypse Bringers and issue a uniform response. When the outbreaks appear too conspicuous, she also proposes that they may be covering the true fissure's opening, continuing to supply strategic hypotheses while the battlefield limits verification time. Appearance and personality

Haiyan is a Chinese woman in her late thirties with a short, slender build, circular-framed glasses, and a neat ponytail. Her dry, hazy eyes and restrained expressions contribute to an austere professional presence. She normally speaks bluntly and can be profane under pressure, but embarrassment over an arranged marriage and her easy laughter with Bom reveal a warmer, more socially inexperienced side away from command work. (Chapters 200, 258, 303–304)

Her habits are intensely work-centred: she is described as sleeping only two hours a day, reacts to unexpected information almost immediately, and withholds conclusions when the data does not justify certainty. That discipline coexists with curiosity and a willingness to test other forms of judgment. She asks Season to articulate his reasoning and is assigned to work with Christoph, whose instincts can challenge conclusions that otherwise appear analytically sound. Systematic Concepts

Systematic Concepts (S) is Haiyan's awakened blessing. It operates like a computer within her mind, accelerating calculation, reaction, and adaptation to sudden situations. She assesses One and Season's projected effect on Association strength numerically, processes Season's unexpected answer in 0.08 seconds, and combines the Edrei investigation's fragments while linked to twelve external computers. The blessing amplifies reasoning rather than supplying omniscience: its results depend on the information and assumptions available to her. (Chapters 200, 259, 289)

That limit becomes most visible during the Q investigation. Haiyan can rank an extraordinary brainwashing theory at 15.5 percent and narrow the search to hundreds of sites, but deliberate trace erasure prevents a precise location, while Myu's denial of being Q leaves the initial model unresolved. No chapter establishes an increase beyond the S grade, a new form of the blessing, or a formal personal advancement. (Chapters 287–293)

Strategic analysis and command

Haiyan combines Systematic Concepts with military knowledge, evidence evaluation, and command-centre coordination. She distinguishes explosive sabotage from monster damage, interprets heterogeneous equipment as a supply-network clue, mobilizes agents against hundreds of candidate locations, and identifies the infection mechanics of the Apocalypse Bringers after battlefield observation. Her reports are practical: they isolate cause, transmission, likely enemy purpose, and the immediate choices available to commanders. (Chapters 251, 258–259, 289, 392–393)

Her decision-making nevertheless has institutional constraints. She must protect classified information, avoid accusations that could demoralize the Association, account for political backlash if Season's power becomes public, and sometimes act before proof is complete. She therefore presents probabilities, invites specialist confirmation, or postpones conclusions instead of disguising uncertainty as fact. Direct combat ability is not demonstrated, so her superhuman status should not be treated as evidence of frontline strength. (Chapters 258–259, 287–288, 360)

Relationships

• Yu Jitae: Haiyan knows him publicly as Prophet Season and treats his foresight as a strategic resource without surrendering her own judgment. She questions his reasoning, anticipates his move toward the Tower of Mages, offers logistical support, and obeys his secrecy restrictions; he in turn recognizes her as the Association's analytical brain. • Bom: Their personalities prove unexpectedly compatible, and Bom befriends Haiyan while living as the Soothsayer. Haiyan discusses her private romantic anxieties with her and accepts help with make-up, but later refuses to disclose restricted information about Yu Jitae's movements, placing military duty above their friendship. • Chaliovan Greenrain: Haiyan serves as one of Chaliovan's principal strategic advisers and can follow his reasoning at a pace that leaves other advisers behind. • Christoph: Christoph's sharpened battlefield instinct offers a mode of judgment that differs from Haiyan's computation. He and Haiyan are the two senior figures who distrust an apparently plausible report, and Season later directs Haiyan's support team to keep consulting Christoph's instincts while investigating Quasar. • Myu: Haiyan approaches the presumed Q as an unknown manipulator capable of subverting powerful allies, but Myu denies being that individual after she is found at the Tower of Mages. Haiyan can connect her mind to twelve computers while processing the Q investigation's accumulated records. The machines expand the volume of material she handles but do not eliminate the limits of missing or deliberately erased evidence; even with them, her search produces approximately 870 candidate locations rather than Q's exact position. T088 mobile suit

When Haiyan calculates that Season is heading to the Tower of Mages, she offers to dispatch T088, a recently built Level 3 mobile suit intended to shorten his journey. The offer demonstrates her attention to logistics, but its estimated six-hour travel time is still too slow for the emergency, so Season refuses it and travels under his own power. Haiyan is not shown owning or personally operating the suit. (Chapter 290)
