Bell Baryon
Biography
A soldier in quarantine
Bell leads the thirty Association operatives contaminated through Wei Yan's Hostility. Once their minds are stabilized enough to understand quarantine, she accepts confinement but insists that the unit retain access to training because they are still soldiers and cannot surrender combat readiness. She also hands over the cigarette butt recovered from the underground facility, giving Yu Jitae a material trace of the influence affecting them. Her first choices preserve both the investigation and her squad's identity. (Chapter 68)
Building a life inside the inner room
Within the inner room, Bell resumes command of the active operatives, reports personnel status, enforces secrecy, and guides visitors through the improvised community. She treats Protector's departure with teasing affection and accepts its instruction to remain a good leader. Under the Light of Paradise, the squad's culture becomes exuberant and exercise-obsessed; Bell arm-wrestles Clone 2, loses instantly, and laughs with the same subordinates who celebrate her defeat. (Chapters 84, 88, 98, 101)
Bell's devotion to Kaeul grows after a dream inspires her to attempt a dangerous bench-press record and finally exceed an SBD total of 20,000 kilograms. Later, when BM mistakes the squad's dance after Taebaek's death for disrespect, Bell quietly defends their mourning. She explains that the child reminded the operatives of distant sons and that their drum and dance preserve what they shared with him. Her answer turns military solidarity into a form of family and calms BM's anger. (Chapters 143–144, 192)
Appearance and personality
Bell is a Filipino Mestiza woman roughly 2.2 metres tall, with a massive build and arms compared to an elephant's legs. Her physical presence is intimidating enough for Ha Saetbyul to joke that Bell could fold her waist in half. Contamination initially leaves Bell's gaze vacant; the Light of Paradise later gives her a drunken, boisterous manner and uninhibited laughter. (Chapters 68, 98, 142–143)
She is disciplined, blunt, competitive, and protective. Bell shouts orders, demands continued training during confinement, and treats physical improvement as a soldier's obligation. Yet she accepts jokes at her expense, shows open sorrow when friends depart, and resists BM only when he misjudges the squad's sincere mourning. Her leadership combines intimidation with a strong sense that the unit's shared practices matter more than appearances. (Chapters 68, 88, 98, 101, 192)
Powers and abilities
World-ranked physical strength
Bell is World Rank 171 and the strongest warrior in her special-force team. Her specialization is extreme physical power: before her later record, she bench-presses 4,826 kilograms, deadlifts 7,210 kilograms, and squats 7,452 kilograms. Inspired by Kaeul, she attempts a 5,400-kilogram bench press and reaches an SBD total of 20,062 kilograms. The feat risks crushed bones and death if she fails, establishing both the scale and danger of her training. (Chapters 68–69, 143)
Her strength is not absolute. Clone 2 defeats her in an arm wrestle so quickly that Bell's hand smashes through the table, demonstrating a vast gap between an elite human ranker and Jitae's clone. No named combat skill, weapon style, or ranged ability is shown, and the narrative does not confirm whether the SBD record changes her formal world rank. Her latest demonstrated use remains strength training rather than field combat. (Chapters 98, 143–144)
Command and unit discipline
Bell organizes thirty powerful operatives whose mental state is unstable. She can assemble them rapidly, track active personnel, enforce restrictions on recorded images, and translate orders into the exercise culture they understand. Hostility contamination and the Light of Paradise impair judgment and focus, however, so BM and Jitae retain medical authority over the team. Bell remains an effective internal leader, but not an independent commander cleared to leave quarantine. (Chapters 68, 84, 88, 98, 101, 192)
Relationships
BM
Bell and the squad call BM their “nurse,” accepting his authority while constantly testing his patience. Bell can be frightened by his anger, but she also speaks against him when he dismisses the squad's memorial. Her explanation of their grief helps BM see Taebaek through the life he shared with them rather than only through the loss, making Bell a subordinate capable of emotionally correcting her commander. (Chapters 68, 84, 101, 192)
Ha Saetbyul and the special-force team
Bell is Saetbyul's intimidating squad leader and the strongest fighter in their quarantined community. The other agents tease Bell, celebrate her records, and obey her shouted commands, while she treats their collective readiness and happiness as her responsibility. Their relationship is distorted by contamination but remains recognizably military and familial. (Chapters 68–69, 84, 88, 98, 142–144, 192)
Kaeul
Bell turns Kaeul into the squad's “Goddess” after dreaming of her before a dangerous lift. Kaeul's encouragement becomes a psychological trigger for Bell's training, while Kaeul's response video gives the isolated soldiers a source of comfort. Bell interprets even conflicting advice—rest safely, but admire muscles—as commands to be reconciled through disciplined exercise. (Chapters 143–144)
Protector and Clone 2
Protector lives with Bell's squad as Armata, sharing chores and enduring their rough sleeping habits until its departure. Bell says goodbye with a fist bump rather than sentimentality. Clone 2 joins their games as the “pharmacist” and decisively defeats Bell at arm wrestling, a loss Bell absorbs without undermining the group's celebration. (Chapters 84, 98, 101)
Items
Wei Yan's cigarette butt
Bell carries the cigarette butt recovered from the underground facility in a sealed black bag and hands it to Jitae. Because it likely belonged to Wei Yan and retained a strong trace of Hostility, it becomes evidence for investigating the team's contamination rather than Bell's personal property. (Chapter 68)
Training equipment and memorial drum
Bell requests training equipment immediately after quarantine and later uses the inner room's enormous weights to preserve the squad's strength. The unit also makes a rough leather drum with Taebaek and uses it during the dance memorial after his death. The weights sustain their military identity; the drum preserves their brief family bond with the child. (Chapters 68, 88, 143–144, 192)
