Xu Luodi

Xu Luodi is the lord of a local cultivator clan who tries to acquire the Xiao Clan’s Spirit Lake through coercion and marriage. His refusal to accept defeat turns a territorial dispute into a hired killing attempt, ending with his death at Meng Hao’s hands.

Biography

Pressure on the Xiao Clan

The Xiao Clan’s decline leaves its Spirit Lake exposed to stronger neighbors. Xu Luodi uses that imbalance to demand a share of the lake and proposes that Xiao Caifeng marry into the Xu Clan, presenting political absorption as the price of avoiding open conflict. Xiao Chang’en’s age and illness make the threat credible until Meng Hao appears as a guest cultivator. (Chapter 167)

Xu tests this supposed protector directly. He releases a red, snake-headed whip, expecting his Foundation Establishment cultivation and clan status to force the issue. Meng Hao answers with conjured vines that wrap and suppress the weapon. Hired retaliation

Rather than warn his clan or negotiate, Xu travels to Lonely Mountain and hires the rogue cultivator Sang Luo to kill Meng Hao. This choice lets him return behind a seemingly stronger fighter and resume his claim with open killing intent. Sang Luo’s techniques fail, however, and Xu joins an attack whose scale he still does not understand. Meng Hao’s Flame Dragon consumes him and burns him to ash. The Xu Clan’s expansion therefore fails because its lord treats the first clear warning as an insult to avenge rather than evidence to reconsider. (Chapters 169–171)
