Patriarch Violet Sieve

Patriarch Violet Sieve is a Nascent Soul expert who directs the Black Sieve Sect's expedition into an ancient Blessed Land. His principal objective is capturing Meat Jelly, whose unexpected bond with Meng Hao turns the latter into a target.

Biography

Southern Domain and the Black Sieve Sect

Patriarch Violet Sieve appears as the senior leader of the Black Sieve expedition. He guides its Feng Shui compasses through the Heaven Forged Furnace, bows to the remains of the sect's third-generation ancestor, and helps break open the Blessed Land gate. When the deranged Elder Zheng emerges, Violet Sieve suppresses him with one strike, restores his senses, and sentences him to secluded meditation. (Chapters 144–147)

Together with the Black Sieve Sect Dao Protector, he waits outside while nine Core Formation cultivators prepare a Spirit Ginseng form. He is willing to sacrifice disciples and rogue cultivators to create the Hundred Spirits Tower rather than share the ancient spirit with the wider Southern Domain. (Chapter 148)

When Ultimate Vexation emerges, Violet Sieve explains that the Hundred Spirits Tower will lure it, prevent self-detonation, and enable capture. The spirit consumes the tower but is chained by its trap. Violet Sieve pursues it and attacks Meng Hao when it unexpectedly bonds him as master, but its shield holds until Meng Hao teleports away. Later, he uses the Tri-Black Incense Burner to dispatch a pursuit team while discussing the limits of Meng Hao's teleportation charm. (Chapter 200)

Visiting alchemists and possessed Patriarchs

Violet Sieve personally receives Furnace Lords Meng Hao, then traveling as Fang Mu, and Zhou Dekun, and later welcomes World Pill Division alchemists Chen Jiaxi and Li Yiming. He suppresses the maddened Zhou Jie, dismissing the incident as cultivation deviation. During the public alchemy confrontation he observes Meng Hao's philosophy, mastery of plants, and defeat of Chen Jiaxi with steadily growing interest. (Chapters 245–255)

He then bargains for Soul Refining Pills, providing Meng Hao with Spirit Stones, rare ingredients, privacy, and a Ten Thousand Refinements furnace. His stated thirteen afflicted Conclave disciples are actually hosts whose possessing discarnate souls have become unstable. When the first is restored, Violet Sieve and the other Nascent Soul leaders bow to the ancient Minor Patriarch controlling the body. (Chapters 256–259)

Later gatherings

Violet Sieve represents the Black Sieve Sect at the Violet Furnace Lord trial and acknowledges Fang Mu before witnessing Pill Demon's projected power. At the Rebirth Cave conflict, he informs the Ji Clan pursuers that Meng Hao owns a good luck charm and later watches the hunt with the assembled senior cultivators. (Chapters 278–311)

Black Lands, Crow Divinity, and the Demon Immortal Sect

Patriarch Violet Sieve watches Meng Hao escape the Rebirth Cave blockade and reflects on the consequences of the failed pursuit. (Chapter 314)

Appearance and personality

He is an old man in violet robes with a black facial birthmark and a fierce, oppressive presence. He is decisive, proud, and ruthless in service of the sect. Rumors credit him with destroying three sects in one night during his rise to Nascent Soul.

He is also politically polished: when dealing with prestigious alchemists, he is courteous, generous, and careful to preserve the Black Sieve Sect's face. This civility coexists with his willingness to conceal the sect's possession practices and defer to its returned discarnate ancestors.

The Hundred Spirits Tower is built by sacrificing captured spirits and cultivators, then used as bait that prevents Ultimate Vexation from self-detonating while a chain closes around it. The target consumes the tower and still forms a protective bond with Meng Hao, demonstrating that Violet Sieve's carefully prepared capture mechanics can be overturned by an ancient spirit's choice. (Chapters 148 and 165–167)

His later hospitality and resource bargaining are another kind of power: he can supply rare ingredients, privacy, Spirit Stones, and a Ten Thousand Refinements furnace to secure Soul Refining Pills. The arrangement depends on Meng Hao's alchemy and conceals the possessed state of the supposed disciples. (Chapters 245–259)
