Jin Yunshan

Jin Yunshan is a golden-robed great-circle 9-Essences Paragon of Planet Vast Expanse. He begins as one of Meng Hao's most dangerous rivals in Patriarch Vast Expanse's necropolis, but repeated contact teaches him to substitute bargaining and tactical defection for a feud he can no longer win.

Biography

Conflict inside the necropolis

Jin Yunshan enters the necropolis as one of the Vast Expanse School's four established peak experts. He initially refuses to aid the Sixth Paragon against Meng Hao and waits at a black altar with the Sect Leader and Sha Jiudong, judging that the expedition's Transcendence opportunities matter more than another Paragon's survival. When Meng Hao kills the Sixth and Eighth Paragons and arrives openly threatening him, Jin Yunshan accepts the direct challenge rather than retreating from a cultivator below peak 9-Essences. (Chapters 1426–1434)

Their battle dismantles his assumptions one layer at a time. Jin Yunshan first uses great-circle cultivation, an Exalted Celestial golden sun, and hundreds of millions of flying swords. Meng Hao survives and wounds him. Jin then deploys Heaven Ripping, Vast Expanse Tribulation Lightning, and finally Void Divinity Conversion, merging all nine Essences into the surrounding world until terrain, elements, light, and lightning become extensions of his body. Although he remains slightly stronger in raw cultivation, he cannot overwhelm Meng Hao's eight combined Hexes and Devil-Butchering Fist. (Chapters 1434–1439)

Meng Hao's command of the necropolis ghosts changes the endgame. Jin Yunshan is forced to swear an oath and surrender a bracelet of treasures to settle the killing intent against him. His compliance is not friendship; it is recognition that the necropolis gives Meng Hao an advantage no ordinary rank can offset. The Sect Leader and Sha Jiudong then both protect Jin and watch him, preventing either side from restarting a fight that would damage the expedition. (Chapters 1440–1441)

Jin continues searching for an explanation that preserves some confidence. He convinces himself Meng Hao has only eight Essences supplemented by a special battle technique, but Meng Hao's sixteen days on the Transcendence Dais destroys even that comforting comparison. Once outside the necropolis, Jin gives him a resentful look and is attacked again while still badly injured. The Sect Leader and Sha Jiudong separate them; after considering Meng Hao's strength and future control of the necropolis, Jin abandons his private vow of revenge. (Chapters 1442–1447)

Protection fees and changing sides

On a later expedition Jin Yunshan no longer waits for violence. He offers another bracelet of treasures as a “protection fee,” using Meng Hao's love of wealth to define a predictable boundary. This is a learned strategy: compensation cannot make them allies, but it can turn uncertain killing intent into a completed transaction. (Chapters 1468–1469)

Bai Wuchen later recruits Jin, Sha Jiudong, and the Sect Leader into a coalition against Meng Hao. When her promised reward proves less reliable than the danger of retaliation, Jin changes sides at the critical moment. He publicly frames the decision as righteous support for Meng Hao, while privately admitting that survival outweighs loyalty to an alliance built on uncertain profit. His reversal helps break the coalition without requiring him to defeat Bai Wuchen alone. (Chapters 1470–1474)

Allheaven and the Transcendent return

Jin remains one of the Vast Expanse School's strongest available experts through its later necropolis expeditions. He joins the response when Allheaven's will threatens Planet Vast Expanse and the school mobilizes around Meng Hao's return. Once Meng Hao fully Transcends, their former rivalry has no remaining ambiguity: Jin accepts the Demon Sovereign's authority and accompanies the school's assembled forces into the wider campaign. His survival is not simple cowardice. Jin repeatedly enters places lethal to ordinary Paragons and commits fully when he believes a battle can be won. What changes is his willingness to reassess. He learns that face, revenge, and alliance promises are expendable when continued insistence would erase every future chance at Transcendence.

Appearance and personality

Jin Yunshan appears as a young man in a golden robe despite having cultivated for ages. Golden light, suns, swords, and lightning dominate his techniques, reinforcing an image of brilliance and exalted authority.

He is proud, calculating, vindictive, and extremely alert to shifts in power. Early pride makes him underestimate Meng Hao; later pragmatism makes him one of the few defeated enemies capable of changing behavior before the same mistake kills him. His theatrical declarations of righteousness often disguise self-interest, but the underlying judgment is usually accurate.

Abilities and cultivation

Great-circle 9-Essences cultivation

Jin stands at the great circle of peak 9-Essences, above ordinary cultivators of the same nominal realm and nearly equal to the Vast Expanse School Sect Leader. Cultivation base, fleshly body, speed, and Essence power reinforce one another, allowing direct exchanges that injure Meng Hao before his Transcendence. His limit is decisive but narrow: he is stronger in raw realm, yet not strong enough to kill Meng Hao through the latter's Hexes, body, and necropolis authority. (Chapters 1434–1439)

Golden Sun and Exalted Celestial swords

Jin gathers the energy of Heaven and Earth and the aura of the Vast Expanse into a golden sun that seems to replace the world's own sun. The sphere transforms into hundreds of millions of golden flying swords, saturating the battlefield rather than relying on one penetrative strike. Meng Hao is forced back and wounded, but survives the wave, so scale does not guarantee a kill against concentrated body and Hexing defenses. (Chapters 1434–1435)

Vast Expanse Tribulation Lightning

His ninth Essence comes from years of contemplating Tribulation Lightning and consuming mist from the Vast Expanse. Golden lightning converges into a colossal finger through Tribulation Lightning Strikes, Nine Essences Fatality. Jin believes Transcendence would let him become an incarnation of the Vast Expanse's Tribulation Lightning; at 9-Essences, however, Meng Hao can neutralize the attack by combining eight Hexes. (Chapters 1436–1438)

Void Divinity Conversion

Jin's strongest trump card merges his Essences successively into Heaven, Earth, wind, the five elements, light, and lightning. His body, cultivation, blood, and soul disperse through the environment until Divine Sense cannot locate a separate Jin Yunshan; the world itself becomes his body and launches his attacks. The method has not been used for ten thousand years and can disperse an enemy who comes within its assimilating reach. Meng Hao counters by attacking the world-state with the Devil-Butchering Fist and Hexing rather than treating Jin as an ordinary physical target. (Chapter 1438)

Heaven Ripping and high-speed movement

He can destroy the darkness of the battlefield through Heaven Ripping and transform into a golden sun trailing afterimages to cross dangerous terrain rapidly. Meng Hao's fourth Devil-Butchering Fist flays apart Heaven Ripping, while the movement art improves escape without making him untouchable. (Chapters 1436 and 1446)

Cultivation oaths and bargaining

After defeat, Jin can bind a settlement through a true oath and transfer treasure compensation. The oath is a restraint with consequences rather than an attack. His later “protection fee” uses the same principle politically: make the cost finite, explicit, and safer than another open contest. (Chapters 1440–1441 and 1468–1469)

Relationships

• Meng Hao: Rival who defeats his full nine-Essence system, creditor who extracts treasure, and eventual Transcendent commander. Their history drives Jin's evolution from hostility to managed coexistence.
• Vast Expanse School Sect Leader: Fellow Potentate who protects Jin after the first fight, restrains further conflict, and leads the expeditions in which they cooperate.
• Sha Jiudong: Fellow peak expert and recurring expedition ally who helps separate Jin and Meng Hao.
• Bai Wuchen: Recruits Jin against Meng Hao, only to have his risk calculation break her coalition.

Items

• Bracelets of holding: Treasure-filled storage bracelets used first as compensation and later as a preemptive protection fee. Their contents are valuable enough to cool Meng Hao's killing intent, but they are bargaining assets rather than signature weapons.
