Hong Ming

Hong Ming is a Yang Opening Realm elder of the Golden Cicada Hong Clan and Hong Wu's fourth uncle. He joins a revenge expedition meant to monopolize Kaihuang's Heaven, is defeated and captured, and spends his remaining years as an unwilling research subject whose techniques contribute to Su Chen's later work.

Biography

Revenge expedition and defeat

Hong Ming is one of six clan elders sent after the younger nobles who vanish in the Scarlet Mountains. The group interrogates Sun Jizu and assumes the surviving students are guilty without evidence, while privately intending to seize Kaihuang's Heaven and kill both its creator and inheritor. Hong Ming's provocative and lustful remarks reinforce the elders' certainty that family status permits whatever follows. That certainty breaks when the expedition clashes with the forces protecting the students and its members fall one after another. (Chapters 240–251)

As the last surviving elder, Hong Ming uses a compressed golden blade strike to grievously wound Uncle Eleven and his Golden Cicada Shedding art to escape an initial palm attack. Uncle Eleven anticipates the repositioning and lands a second blow, leaving Hong Ming defeated and begging for his life. Su Chen asks that he be spared, not out of forgiveness, but because a living Yang Opening cultivator offers greater research value than a corpse. (Chapters 247–251)

Captivity and posthumous legacy

Shi Kaihuang takes Hong Ming captive after Su Chen surgically repairs his ruptured organs. Under coercion Hong Ming yields his cultivation methods, including the principle behind his compressed explosive attack, and remains a research subject for roughly three years before dying. Later references concern knowledge extracted from him: Su Chen develops Explosion Fists by compressing Origin Energy and releasing it explosively, while the medical work used to keep Hong Ming alive contributes to Su Chen's surgical experience. These later chapters do not indicate that Hong Ming survived. (Chapters 254–256, 273, 280, and 294)

Appearance and personality

Hong Ming is short in stature. The corpus does not state his age, clothing, hair, eyes, build beyond that description, or other stable facial features. (Chapters 240–241)

He is vindictive, arrogant, provocative, and lustful. He readily supports killing a master and student to monopolize their cultivation method, and he treats suspicion as sufficient proof when family revenge is involved. Once isolated and mortally threatened, his swagger collapses into pleading, showing that self-preservation outweighs the pride he displays while protected by the group. (Chapters 240–251)

Abilities and cultivation

Hong Ming is a Yang Opening Realm cultivator of the Golden Cicada Hong Clan. He possesses strong blade offense, a clan escape technique, and enough vitality to survive severe damage after Su Chen's surgery. His complete cultivation method is extracted during captivity, but the corpus does not provide a full named repertoire or show any advancement after capture. (Chapters 247–256)

Compressed explosive strike

Hong Ming compresses Origin Energy into a golden blade strike whose release produces extreme explosive force. It severely injures Uncle Eleven despite the latter's strength, demonstrating high impact but not perfect penetration or protection against a counterattack. Su Chen later adapts the principle into Explosion Fists and combines it with armor-piercing effects because the raw explosive method is powerful but relatively poor at penetrating concentrated defense. The later technique belongs to Su Chen's development, not to Hong Ming's latest mastery. Hong Ming supplies the underlying knowledge under coercion, and no scene shows him refining it further before death. (Chapters 254–256, 273, and 280)

Golden Cicada Shedding

Golden Cicada Shedding lets Hong Ming evade a killing blow and reappear at another position, functioning as a rapid escape or substitution technique. Uncle Eleven predicts where he will emerge and strikes again, showing that the art can be countered by anticipation. Its exact range, activation cost, reuse interval, and interaction with restraints are not stated. (Chapters 249–251)

Once captured and physically controlled by Shi Kaihuang, Hong Ming does not escape again. His death after three years ends his access to both clan techniques, and later uses of their principles are derivatives created by others. (Chapters 254–280)
