Hong Wu

Hong Wu is a Golden Cicada Clan student whose hostility toward Jin Ling’er draws him into the struggle surrounding Zhang Sheng’an.

Biography

Conflict at the ruins

Hong Wu arrives in the ruins in elaborate clothing and immediately joins Zhang Sheng’an in pressuring Jin Ling’er. He encourages Zhang’s confrontation from the sidelines, but when the clash turns against them Zhang uses Hong as a shield. Hong survives the first exchange through Golden Cicada Shedding, only to be injured by Wang Doushan and crushed to death by the Clay Giant while trying to flee. (Chapters 204–215)

His death later becomes a grievance for the Hong Clan and part of the accusation that follows the ruins conflict. Hong Ming identifies himself as Hong Wu’s fourth uncle, while Su Chen answers the clan’s inquiry by confirming that the Clay Giant, rather than one of the human combatants, truly delivered the fatal blow. (Chapters 239–256)

Appearance and personality

Hong Wu is short and dressed in a golden wolf-head cloak, an azure sash, deerskin boots, and a hair crown. He has a round red face, tiger-like eyes with golden pupils, and a hoarse voice. His treatment of Jin Ling’er is openly classist and domineering. (Chapter 204)

Abilities and cultivation

His Golden Cicada bloodline grants Golden Cicada Shedding, an escape technique that leaves a substitute shell behind. It saves him from one lethal strike, but does not prevent his later injuries or death. (Chapter 215)

Relationships

Hong Wu supports Zhang Sheng’an against Jin Ling’er, although Zhang ultimately sacrifices his safety to protect himself. Wang Doushan wounds Hong during the encounter, and Hong Ming later seeks answers about his nephew’s death. (Chapters 210–256)
