Gu Xinrong
Gu Xinrong is the fiery-tempered Fourth Ancestor of the Gu Clan and one of humanity's twelve Ultimate Emperors. Her Shining Dragon bloodline gives her immense strength, but Empty Mountain's inherited curses constrain that power and force her to balance clan pride with an increasingly pragmatic relationship toward Su Chen.
Biography
Anger under the three curses
Gu Xinrong comes to the Empty Mountain palace after imperial surveillance exposes hidden Gu Clan Lifesource Candle production. Her anger darkens the sky and disturbs Origin Energy across the capital, but Chu Yuan answers with his own power and the structural advantage of the three curses. Though Gu Xinrong's bloodline is stronger and both stand at Ultimate Emperor, she cannot ignore a mechanism designed to suppress her clan. Discovering that Gu Feihong caused the crisis, she punishes him with ten years of imprisonment rather than defend the young master's misconduct. (Chapters 752–755)
Su Chen creates a still greater complication by commanding the Capricorn curse. Gu Xinrong and the other ancestors confront him, and his chant briefly forces control over her body, but maintaining that control consumes his full attention and strength. The exchange proves both the curse's danger and its limit: it can restrain an Ultimate Emperor of the Gu bloodline, yet does not by itself let Su Chen defeat her while addressing other threats. The parties therefore settle instead of escalating into a mutually damaging fight. (Chapters 753–755)
From brash opposition to alliance
When negotiations later turn to whether Gu Qingluo may accompany Su Chen, Gu Xinrong admits that her earlier approach was brash and apologizes. She works indirectly with Su Chen to persuade Chu Yuan, showing a political restraint absent from her entrance at the palace. In the final human wars she joins the highest-level councils, supports Gu Huiming, fights Desolate Beasts with the other emperors, and passes through the fissure into Kun territory. Her last appearance leaves her alive and active among humanity's peak combatants. (Chapters 917–918, 945, 1049–1054, 1088–1093, and 1138)
Appearance and personality
Gu Xinrong is described as an old woman. The corpus does not state her height, build, clothing, hair, eyes, or detailed facial features. The darkness and pressure surrounding her entrance are manifestations of anger and cultivation rather than ordinary physical traits. (Chapter 752)
She is proud, protective of the Gu Clan, direct, and famously fiery-tempered. Her rage is not blind loyalty: once Gu Feihong's responsibility becomes clear, she punishes him for damaging the clan. She also develops greater diplomatic self-awareness, explicitly acknowledging her brashness and adopting a more indirect strategy when cooperation with Su Chen better serves Gu Qingluo and the family. (Chapters 752–755 and 917–918)
Abilities and cultivation
Gu Xinrong is an Ultimate Emperor Realm cultivator with the Gu Clan's Shining Dragon Origin Beast bloodline. She is qualified to contend with Sovereign-class enemies and later fights Desolate Beasts alongside other peak humans, but no named personal attack or complete technique set is supplied. (Chapters 752–755, 945, and 1088–1138)
Shining Dragon bloodline and emperor aura
Gu Xinrong's bloodline is described as one tier stronger than Chu Yuan's inherited line. When angered, she releases pressure on a scale that darkens the sky and disturbs the Origin Energy of an entire capital, demonstrating both vast reserves and fine enough control to direct the confrontation toward the palace. Chu Yuan neutralizes the display rather than being overwhelmed, so it establishes parity and threat rather than a decisive victory. (Chapter 752)
At Ultimate Emperor she can grapple a Sovereign-level opponent, but sharing a bloodline does not make her identical to an actual Shining Dragon Beast or grant automatic control over one. Later battles occur with other emperors, and the corpus does not establish her individual endurance, solitary victory rate, or a higher realm after Ultimate Emperor. (Chapter 945 and Chapters 1088–1138)
Curse vulnerability and consciousness
The three Empty Mountain curses inherently target the Gu Clan bloodline. Su Chen's Capricorn chant can seize Gu Xinrong despite her realm, proving that raw cultivation does not cancel the bloodline-specific control. The effect has a major counterbalance: holding an expert of her level demands Su Chen's concentration and leaves him unable to freely fight others, so the curse restrains her more readily than it defeats her. (Chapters 753–755)
Her resistance and later top-tier participation imply powerful consciousness and cultivation, but the corpus gives no named consciousness art or numerical measure. No later scene states that she removes the curse vulnerability. (Chapters 753–755 and 1088–1138)
Relationships
- Chu Yuan: Gu Xinrong confronts Chu Yuan over imperial intrusion into Gu affairs. Their equal realms are complicated by his weaker bloodline and stronger institutional control through the curses. (Chapters 752–755)
- Gu Feihong: Gu Xinrong is the elder whose protection Gu Feihong expects. Once his actions cost the clan resources and standing, she imprisons him instead of excusing him. (Chapters 752–755)
- Su Chen: Gu Xinrong first opposes Su Chen as a threat who controls the Capricorn curse. She later apologizes for her brashness and works with him in family diplomacy and humanity's broader wars. (Chapters 753–755 and 917–1138)
- Gu Qingluo: Gu Xinrong supports a negotiated path for Gu Qingluo to accompany Su Chen, using a more restrained political approach than in her earlier confrontation. (Chapters 917–918)
