Gu Huiming
Gu Huiming is the oldest living ancestor of the Gu Clan and one of the human alliance’s Sovereign-level powers. His age, knowledge, and standing make him both a battlefield defender and a senior adviser during the wars against the Harpies, Desolate Beasts, and returning gods. (Chapters 1049–1050, 1069, and 1088–1089)
Biography
An elder drawn into the final wars
Gu Huiming joins the human alliance as an authority whom even Su Chen treats with respect. His caution does not make him passive: he helps identify Eternal Night’s delayed advance as a warning of an Astral trap, blocks a Sovereign’s attack during the ensuing campaign, and rebukes Su Chen when the sect master proposes confronting a Desolate Beast alone. These actions show his consistent motive—preserving humanity’s strength while forcing its most powerful leader to take risks seriously. (Chapters 1049–1050, 1069, 1071, and 1089)
His composure is broken when a divine script in Su Chen’s possession projects concentrated hatred into his eye. The outburst shatters the Clearheart Tranquility Art that had helped sustain his life, abruptly ages him, and reduces his remaining lifespan to an estimated three to five months. Gu Huiming refuses to blame Su Chen and resolves to survive at least long enough to witness the planned victory over the Harpies. Although he briefly restores a youthful exterior, the text identifies it as a facade rather than recovery. (Chapters 1053–1054)
Gu Huiming remains active afterward. He supplies ancient intelligence from The Primordial Will when three Desolate Beasts threaten the human army, questions Su Chen’s plans concerning Sky City and the Blood Ancestor, and is still present when the Blood Ancestor reveals humanity’s forgotten connection to immortal energy. His agitation at that revelation marks his latest direct scene; the corpus does not state how the loss of Clearheart Tranquility ultimately affects his lifespan. (Chapters 1078, 1088, 1096, and 1145)
Appearance and personality
Gu Huiming is introduced as an old man whose age commands unusual deference. Breaking Clearheart Tranquility makes him appear to age by centuries in moments; he can make his body look youthful again, but observers recognize that display as temporary. No other stable physical details are supplied. (Chapters 1049 and 1054)
He is disciplined, analytical, and protective of the human alliance. His lifelong emotional restraint supports both his longevity and his measured judgment, yet the divine script proves that this calm is not invulnerable. Once it breaks, he becomes more talkative without losing his sense of responsibility. He accepts personal loss as fate, cautions Su Chen bluntly, and contributes historical knowledge instead of competing for command. (Chapters 1054, 1071, and 1088–1089)
Abilities and cultivation
Gu Huiming possesses the Shining Dragon bloodline and is counted among the human army’s Sovereign-level powers. In battle he can manifest a giant dragon image and combine palm or claw attacks with other Sovereigns strongly enough to stop an enemy ambush and send a shockwave across the battlefield. The corpus does not name his cultivation realm, enumerate his techniques, or establish his strength after his longevity art breaks. (Chapters 1050, 1053, and 1069)
His Clearheart Tranquility Art preserves an even spirit and contributes to his exceptional lifespan. Its demonstrated limitation is severe: an involuntary eruption of hatred destroys the cultivated tranquility and immediately consumes much of his remaining life. Restoring a youthful appearance does not repair that damage. Gu Huiming also has extensive knowledge of ancient beasts through The Primordial Will, allowing him to explain Hidden Cloud’s incorporeal form, Towering Clam’s reality-affecting illusions, and the White Lion’s conventional physical threat; this is scholarship rather than a supernatural sensing ability. (Chapters 1053–1054 and 1088)
Relationships
- Su Chen: Gu Huiming respects Su Chen’s command and power but retains enough seniority to rebuke his risks. Su Chen likewise listens to him, shares divine discoveries with him, and accepts his ancient-beast intelligence. (Chapters 1053–1054 and 1088–1089)
- Gu Qingluo: Gu Huiming is the oldest living ancestor of Gu Qingluo’s clan and joins her among the senior human leaders considering Su Chen’s campaign decisions. The corpus does not give them a private exchange. (Chapters 1049 and 1096)
- Li Wuyi: Gu Huiming and Li Wuyi serve as senior voices in the allied command, jointly analyzing Eternal Night’s strategy and the threats waiting beyond Sky City. (Chapter 1071)
- Blood Ancestor: The Blood Ancestor’s account of the Human Ancestor and immortal energy visibly excites Gu Huiming, whose latest scene centers on the implications of that forgotten history. (Chapter 1145)
Items
No personal item is confirmed for Gu Huiming. The Primordial Will is an ancient record he consults for Desolate Beast intelligence, but the corpus does not establish that he owns it or carries a particular copy. (Chapter 1088)
