Culler

Culler is the Sand Race officer entrusted with West Laina Castle during Pall's apparent absence. He hosts Zhu Xianyao's party while quietly serving Pall's plan to let the humans find Kapius's hidden treasure, and is executed after that deception is exposed. (Chapters 509–548)

Biography

Guarding West Laina Castle

Culler serves as half-host and half-warden when Zhu Xianyao's delegation arrives at West Laina Castle. He is alert enough to notice that the humans are exploring the fortress instead of pursuing their stated mining business, and he presses them for an explanation without openly breaking hospitality. When assassins attack Zhu Xianyao, he raises the castle's defenses, restrains an attacker with a hand of sand, and promises to investigate. He later supports the party against other hostile forces, helping maintain the appearance that Sand Race and Zhu Clan interests are aligned. (Chapters 509–535)

The alliance ends when Culler discovers the portal to Kapius's Projection Void. Zhu Baiyu restrains him and sends him through first as a test subject, but Culler remains confident because Pall has secretly followed the treasure hunters. Once Pall's plan is revealed, Culler admits that the Sand Race never trusted the humans and intended to seize the treasure after they found it. The humans and Immortal Temple respond by allying against Pall. With no strategic reason to preserve their prisoner, Su Chen beheads Culler before the battle. Culler’s elder brother Sark later confronts Su Chen for revenge. (Chapters 537–548)

Appearance and personality

Culler is described as outwardly crude, but his questioning of the Zhu Clan shows that he is observant and not foolish. He can remain cordial while suspicious, responds decisively to attacks within his jurisdiction, and expresses confidence in Pall even while bound. That confidence also reflects the hidden plan: some of his apparent gullibility was deliberate behavior meant to let the human parties locate the treasure for the Sand Race. The corpus gives no fixed details of his face, build, or clothing. (Chapters 524–544)

Abilities and cultivation

Culler is called a somewhat strong Sand Race warrior, but no cultivation realm or bloodline is stated. He can form a massive hand of sand capable of intercepting an assassin's blade-light and then restraining the attacker. The first interception is not absolute—the blade struggles free and disperses the hand—so the technique can be overcome by sufficient force. He can summon it again quickly for control rather than direct damage. (Chapter 525)

As castle commander, he can order the defensive barrier raised and fights as part of a larger force that helps overwhelm a mixed-bloodline Light Shaking opponent. Those results depend on fortifications and numerous allies and therefore do not establish equivalent personal power. Once restrained by Zhu Baiyu, he shows no means of escaping; Su Chen kills him with a single execution stroke. No advancement or additional personal technique is recorded. (Chapters 525–544)
