Celestial Immortal Unity
Celestial Immortal Unity is the ancient Northmont patriarch who won Stillwater Commandery for his clan during the Fiendgod Era. Long believed dead after the Milky Way War, he returns to public action when the Seamless Gate tries to force the Northmont clan away from the Xia Emperor.
Biography
Founder and hidden patriarch
Unity rises during the Fiendgod Era as the most dazzling Celestial Immortal in Northmont history. He submits to the Xia Emperor, fights on behalf of the imperial clan, and kills enough Fiendgods and Immortals to win the marquisdom of Stillwater Commandery for his descendants. His sword also kills Patriarch Fiveghosts, whose five Immortal swords are eventually gifted to Ji Ning at Unity's instruction. (Chapters 418–419)
The Milky Way War leaves Unity badly wounded and emotionally devastated. Rather than dying, he withdraws so completely that the wider world concludes he has perished. He spends part of that hidden life among mortals, taking mortal teachers to learn the cultivation of tea and other ordinary practices. This is his way of enduring an immense lifespan without severing himself from change, but it also shows the discipline that later makes coercion difficult: he can abandon fame and live quietly for ages. (Chapters 418–421)
Refusal of the Seamless Gate
When the great storm reaches Stillwater, the Seamless Gate attacks Unity through his clan, territory, and family. It seduces a large portion of the Northmont leadership into favoring surrender and captures his brother Hunchmont alive. Unity responds by executing more than half of the clan's Void-level experts, including the internal faction aligned with the Seamless Gate. The decision is brutal, but its purpose is clear: he will preserve the clan's allegiance to the Xia Emperor even if doing so costs favored relatives and much of its leadership. (Chapters 473 and 481)
The Seamless Gate tries threats, promises, and Hunchmont's captivity, but Unity refuses every avenue of pressure. He helps Yu Wei and Immortal Diancai survive repeated assaults and personally drives off a force of thirty-six Celestial Immortals. His refusal turns Stillwater into a priority target because the enemy judges that a Sword Immortal close to Pure Yang True Immortal power will become a greater obstacle if allowed to mature. (Chapters 481–487)
Eighteen elite Celestial Immortals eventually trap Unity in a Turtle-Snake Formation. He cannot break the combined formation alone and is being worn down when Ning intervenes. Once Ning shatters the formation, Unity immediately uses his Supreme Immortal Sword to pursue the fleeing attackers rather than allowing them to regroup. True Immortal Gaudy's arrival then forces the defenders into a still greater crisis, resolved only when the Xia Emperor tears through sealed space and intervenes. (Chapters 488–494)
General of the Grand Xia
Unity answers the Xia Emperor's mobilization and learns the Heaven Punisher Formation quickly enough to compete for one of nine command posts. He becomes commander of the Unity Army, directing a thousand Celestial Immortals and one hundred thousand Loose Immortals through a single enormous formation-body. The Xia Emperor uses him as the vanguard against the Seamless City, trusting his experience and resilience to test enemy strength before committing the other armies. (Chapters 508–520)
The Realmwar costs Unity heavily. His Heaven Punisher is destroyed during the second month, but he survives and accepts reinforcements to rebuild the army. He then fights for years beside Ning, Whacko, Dustfloat, Allbeasts, and Rainsoar. Their repeated need to advance, retreat, and rescue one another turns the generals into a close battlefield brotherhood. Unity helps slow the Venomsong Terrorbeast, warns Ning of attacks, and joins the pursuit when enemy formations break. (Chapters 520–555)
He remains with the surviving Grand Xia commanders through the campaign's conclusion and cares for Ning during the personal losses surrounding Yu Wei. Before Ning leaves for Mount Innerheart, Unity is named among the friends who do not want him to go but understand why he must. Unity's last confirmed scenes leave him alive; later generic uses of the word “unity” are not evidence of a new appearance or fate. (Chapters 554–563)
Appearance and personality
Unity appears as a gray-robed youth despite his immense age. His quiet interest in tea and willingness to learn from mortals contrast with the savage battle intent he displays when enemies approach Stillwater. (Chapters 419–421 and 488)
He is patient enough to live anonymously for countless years and resolute enough to sacrifice reputation, kinship, and comfort when the Three Realms divide. The same character can discuss tea cultivation gently, execute traitorous clansmen without hesitation, and accept that war may kill him. His loyalty to the Xia Emperor is a chosen commitment that neither Hunchmont's captivity nor threats to Stillwater can break. (Chapters 419–421 and 473–490)
Abilities and cultivation
Unity is a supreme Celestial Immortal Sword Immortal with combat power close to a Pure Yang True Immortal. He is strongest in direct sword combat and also possesses the insight and command ability necessary to control a Heaven Punisher army. (Chapters 418–490)
Supreme swordsmanship
Unity's Supreme Immortal Sword is the center of his personal fighting style. His power is sufficient to drive thirty-six ordinary Celestial Immortals into retreat, and Ji Ning's own combat strength is repeatedly measured against Unity's. Once the Turtle-Snake Formation breaks, Unity can direct the sword across the battlefield to kill fleeing Celestial Immortals. (Chapters 481–490)
His near–True Immortal power does not erase differences of scale. Eighteen elite Celestial Immortals using the Godking's combined formation can suppress him, and True Immortal Gaudy remains beyond what Unity and the Stillwater defenders can defeat unaided. Unity's strength is therefore exceptional within the Celestial Immortal rank, not equivalent to unrestricted victory over every higher-ranked opponent. (Chapters 487–492)
Coresense and vigilance
During the siege of Stillwater, Unity rotates coresense duty with Yu Wei and Immortal Diancai. They maintain continuous coverage over the city and three thousand kilometers around it for more than half a year, detecting the Seamless strike force before it can enter the defensive perimeter. Although a Celestial Immortal can briefly sense much farther, the smaller radius is what the defenders can sustain without exhaustion. (Chapters 486–488)
Heaven Punisher Formation
Unity masters the Heaven Punisher Formation rapidly and ranks among the nine Celestial Immortals selected to command it. The formation combines one thousand Celestial Immortals and one hundred thousand Loose Immortals into a headless Fiendgod modeled on Xingtian, with Unity controlling the resultant body's choices and movements. It raises an army to a level capable of contesting the Seamless Gate's White-Faced Flood Dragons. (Chapters 508–520)
The formation's power depends on its entire host. Destruction of the construct can kill enormous numbers of subordinates even if the commander survives, as Unity does when his first Heaven Punisher is broken. Rebuilding requires reinforcements, and coordinated enemy formations can still send it flying. Unity learns to compensate through teamwork, alternating attacks and covering neighboring commanders. (Chapters 520–555)

- Five Immortal swords of Patriarch Fiveghosts: Unity takes these after killing Fiveghosts and later orders that they be given to Immortal Diancai. They are no longer his possessions during the main Stillwater conflict. (Chapter 418)
