Celestial Immortal Hunchmont is the publicly active Celestial Immortal of the Northmont clan of Stillwater. He links the clan to Black-White College, helps form the alliance protecting Stillwater Commandery, and is eventually captured during the Seamless Gate's covert campaign against the Grand Xia.

Biography

Northmont patriarch

Hunchmont first enters a confrontation between Patriarch Arcanum and Black-White College, answering Arcanum's surprise at his survival with dry mockery. His presence reveals that the Northmont clan possesses a Celestial Immortal foundation hidden behind its mortal administration. Decades later, when Ji Ning returns from training under an undisclosed master, Hunchmont personally visits the College, assesses Ning and his spirit-beasts, and invites him to the Stillwater marquisate without pressing him to reveal secrets. The stability of Stillwater becomes Hunchmont's central responsibility. When the Blood God Church expands, he battles its Scion but cannot defeat him, proving that the enemy's hidden backing has elevated it to Celestial Immortal standing. Alliance around Patriarch Unity

After Immortal Diancai survives his tribulation, Hunchmont recognizes that a new Celestial Immortal can strengthen the commandery. The Seamless Gate later targets the commandery's Celestial Immortals as part of its subversion campaign. Hunchmont is reported captured alive, and Yu Wei's account confirms that her own covert mission contributed to arranging that capture even though she did not personally overpower him. Appearance and personality

Hunchmont is a true Celestial Immortal, an unaging existence whose survival gives the Northmont clan a foundation comparable to the Grand Xia's greatest regional institutions.
