Yu Wei

Yu Wei, the Rainbowflame Fairy, is a reincarnated Immortal of Black-White College and Ji Ning's Dao-companion. Her life joins exceptional fire talent and genuine family devotion to a hidden allegiance imposed through gratitude, conditioning, and the Godking's control.

Biography

Reincarnation and the Conclave

Yu Wei enters the story as a peak Wanxiang Adept whose status within Black-White College resembles that of a Primal Daoist. She is a reincarnated Immortal, but rebirth does not immediately restore everything: her former memories and secret arts return only in fragments, while one complete Dao Path gives her an unusually mature foundation. In a Dao debate she defeats Ning with a Thousandswords golem and a sea of fiery sword-light, establishing that her reputation rests on demonstrated insight rather than prior-life prestige alone. (Chapters 171, 179, 252, and 260)

Having lost her parents young in both the emotional history she remembers and the life she now lives, Yu Wei enters the Conclave of Immortal Destiny to temper herself. Her paired phoenix formation carries her deep into the competition. Multiple opponents eventually overwhelm it and she is poisoned, but Ning intervenes to save her. Shared danger and the recognition of similar loneliness deepen an existing school relationship into love. (Chapters 252 and 323–333)

Yu Wei and Ning become Dao-companions, yet she does not simply subordinate her path to his. When Lu Dongbin offers to take her as a disciple, she initially hesitates because following him would separate them. Ning urges her to accept rather than abandon a rare opportunity for their relationship. Her decision preserves both commitments: she becomes Lu Dongbin's disciple while continuing to build a life with Ning. (Chapters 334–354)

A hidden bond to the Seamless Gate

A later revelation changes the meaning of Yu Wei's reserve. In her previous life she failed her tribulation and fell into a berserk, despairing state. The Godking guided her back to sanity and trained her as one of the Seamless Gate's hidden agents, while also leaving an imprint capable of influencing her soul. Her gratitude is real, but it has been deliberately magnified into obedience. (Chapters 495 and 552)

The Godking tries to use that bond against Ning before the Realmwar, threatening Yu Wei with the Infinity Hells and ordering her to lure her husband into a trap. She refuses to harm him even when she believes refusal will condemn her. This establishes that her love and loyalty to her family are genuine well before the later public betrayal makes outsiders question them. (Chapter 495)

Wife, mother, and coerced betrayal

By the Realmwar, Yu Wei is a Celestial Immortal, Ning's wife, and mother to their daughter Brightmoon. Their household gives her the family she lacked, but it also makes her uniquely valuable as a spy. When Shennong provides a medicine capable of disabling the Seamless armies, the Godking orders Yu Wei to destroy Ning's portion. His spiritual imprint, her old debt, and the threat of punishment leave her trapped between the faction that once saved her and the people she loves. (Chapters 542 and 551–553)

Yu Wei destroys the medicine but does not attack Ning. She then shatters her own soul rather than allow the Seamless Gate to carry it away and continue using her. The choice ruins the Nuwa Alliance's immediate plan and appears to confirm that she was a traitor, yet it also denies the Godking the obedient return he expects. Lu Dongbin recognizes the distinction: she had many opportunities to kill Ning and never did so. (Chapters 553–554)

The sacrifice does not free her completely. The Godking retains her soul fragments and threatens to torment them in the Infinity Hells to force Ning to defect. Ning refuses, knowing that surrender would betray the worlds and people Yu Wei protected by sparing him. Her death therefore becomes both a personal wound and a continuing instrument of war, shaping Ning's refusal to accept a universe in which destroyed truesouls can never be recovered. Restoration

Ning preserves Yu Wei's memory throughout his later cultivation, including carving a lifelike jade statue while his own truesoul is failing. Only after becoming Lord of Chaos can he gather her scattered truesoul fragments from the void and reconstruct her life and memories. Yu Wei awakens remembering the Godking's final violence, then discovers that the family and world she lost have endured. Her reunion with Ning and Brightmoon closes a separation that ordinary spacetime reversal and even an Autarch could not undo. (Chapters 1289, 1247–1250, and 1450)

Appearance and personality

Yu Wei is introduced as a beautiful woman in black robes, with long hair and a cool, indifferent aura. The reserve conceals strong attachments rather than an absence of feeling. She is disciplined enough to cultivate through fragmented memories, affectionate but unwilling to abandon advancement, and ultimately prepared to destroy herself rather than deliberately kill Ning. Her strictness with Brightmoon complements Ning's gentler parenting and shows the practical side of her devotion to family. (Chapters 171, 334–354, 495, and 542–554)

Abilities and cultivation

Yu Wei is a Ki Refiner whose inherited insight centers on fire, sword-light, and paired formation techniques. Reincarnation gives her fragments of former-life knowledge, not effortless access to all of her previous power.

Reincarnated-Immortal foundation

One complete Dao Path survives from Yu Wei's previous life even while most memories return in incomplete pieces. This gives her a deeper conceptual base than an ordinary Wanxiang Adept and helps her reach peak Wanxiang early, but she still needs new experience and dangerous competition to integrate that knowledge. Her later status as a Celestial Immortal reflects renewed cultivation rather than the automatic restoration of her former realm. (Chapters 171, 252, 260, and 552)

Her fire insight can manifest as a sea of sword-light and operate through a Thousandswords golem during Dao debates. The contest with Ning demonstrates control and conceptual refinement, but the golem remains external equipment; the corpus does not establish that she can reproduce all of its effects without it. (Chapter 179)

Black-and-white phoenix formation

Yu Wei's signature Conclave defense uses seventy-two Rahu Godneedles divided into two groups. Thirty-six form a fire phoenix suited to offense, while thirty-six form an ice phoenix that intercepts and deflects attacks. Working together, the black-and-white phoenixes create a balanced formation capable of resisting several strong competitors at once. (Chapters 323 and 332)

The formation is powerful but not absolute. Coordinated attackers can overload its defensive half, and poison reaches Yu Wei after the formation breaks. Its effectiveness depends on her simultaneous control of many needles, so pressure from multiple directions taxes both the constructed pattern and its controller. Ning's rescue in the Conclave is a representative case in which the formation delays defeat but cannot independently reverse the battle. (Chapters 332–333)

Soul imprint and coercive influence

The Godking's imprint is not one of Yu Wei's chosen abilities. It lets him influence her inner feelings without her fully recognizing the manipulation, intensifying trust and indebtedness until self-sacrifice for the Seamless Gate feels natural. The imprint does not erase her agency completely: she refuses one command to lure Ning and later limits her betrayal to destroying the medicine, then shatters her own soul. Those acts show both the mechanism's severity and its limits. (Chapters 495 and 552–554)

• Ji Ning: Schoolmate, Dao-companion, and husband. Their relationship develops through the Conclave, survives her hidden conflict in the sense that she refuses to kill him, and is restored after Ning becomes Lord of Chaos. (Chapters 323–354, 495, 551–557, and 1450)
