Yolden

Yolden is Wilton Magic Academy's third-ranked student and a four-star specialist in Wind Magic. Initially skeptical of the exceptional transfer students, she becomes one of Raze Cromwell's study partners, accepts defeat to Safa, and ultimately uses her training to protect civilians during Ibarin's collapse. The corpus occasionally slips into masculine pronouns in later chapters, but her introduction and sustained academy scenes identify her as the same female student; no second Yolden is established.

Biography

Rivalry turned into study

Yolden first watches Liam claim a lightning wand that appears to reject him. As the third-ranked student, she can read the mana flow well enough to recognize the rejection and is shocked when he forcibly disrupts it. Her skepticism extends to the other transfers, but Raze's explanation of magical theory changes her response from ridicule to curiosity. She and Chiba ask him for help, spend an afternoon studying fundamentals, and insist on repaying time he gives without demanding anything in return. (Chapters 1304–1317)

The assessment against Safa turns that growing connection into direct competition. Yolden wants a victory that will secure recognition among Wilton's elite, so she uses concentrated Wind Magic aggressively rather than treating the Light Mage as harmless. Safa heals through the cuts, absorbs a vortex, and returns it to defeat her. Yolden is disappointed but accepts the result, softens when Safa heals her afterward, and jokingly calls her a little sister once she understands Safa's relationship with Raze. (Chapters 1319–1324)

From exchange competitor to civilian defender

Yolden accompanies Wilton through the Underfang crisis and the Central Academy exchange, where ordinary school competition gives way to attacks, manipulated students, and evidence against the Grand Magus. She is frightened when masked mages overwhelm the teachers, but continues observing and questioning rather than treating official labels as complete truth. By Raze's duel with Ibarin, she finds herself hoping a supposed Dark Guild member can defeat the authority she once would have trusted. (Chapters 1338–1497)

When academy principals unleash large spells without protecting the audience, Yolden rejects escape and joins students shielding the stands. She argues that protecting people is the purpose of learning magic even if others suspect a connection to Raze. After Ibarin's death and Raze's departure, she remains alive with the Wilton students, injured but relieved, and joins their uncertain recognition that the feared Dark Magus had repeatedly acted to save them. Appearance and personality

Yolden has distinctive hair divided evenly between blonde and black, with straight bangs that split the colors across her forehead. She is introduced as one of Wilton's top female students and is usually seen beside the other highest-ranked pupils. She begins confident, competitive, and quick to scoff, but is also intellectually honest. Yolden changes her judgment when Raze explains difficult theory, thanks him warmly for helping, and accepts Safa's kindness after losing. Her specialization gives her stronger wind control than lower-ranked mixed-element students, but not an automatic answer to regeneration or absorption.
