Chiba is Wilton Academy's second-ranked student and an adaptable four-star mage whose strongest demonstrated affinity is Water magic. Initially confident in Alterian institutions and their account of Dark magic, she becomes more skeptical after studying under Raze Cromwell, witnessing Central Academy shield violent students, and seeing Raze protect Wilton during the Exchange.

Biography

Wilton's second-ranked student

Chiba enters the transfer class immediately below Piba in Wilton's student rankings. Although her delicate appearance can make opponents underestimate her, she has earned that position through practical combat sense rather than raw spell output alone. She studies with Yolden and accepts tutoring from Raze, whose questions about the Grand Magi and the Dark Guild force her to examine ideas she had previously treated as settled history. Her duel with Beatrix Highborn shows why she stands near the top of the class. Chiba crosses broken terrain on a moving wave, creates a water double, shifts between fire and water, and hides the field in steam before attacking with a serpent-shaped torrent. Appearance and personality

Chiba is a small girl with short hair gathered into pigtails and delicate, conventionally cute features. Water magic is Chiba's clearest specialty. She can propel herself on a wave, launch torrents, form a moving double, shape water into a striking serpent, and spin it into a sphere powerful enough to break terrain. • Yolden: Chiba studies and fights beside Yolden throughout the Wilton and Central Academy conflicts. They find the ambushed students together, combine water and wind into cutting pressure, and remain together after the Exchange turns into open battle.
• Piba: Piba is ranked immediately above Chiba and is both a peer and friend. Chiba helps find him after Central students attack him, pushes for consequences, and later fights the academy that protected his attackers.
