Gizin

Gizin is an Alterian pharmaceutical magnate and one of the Grand Magi targeted by Raze Cromwell. Publicly celebrated for medical magic, restorative potions, and Green Magic Pharma, he secretly supplies illegal enhancement substances, controls or funds the Cerebus Guild, and receives Divine Qi through the Rylon Religion. His decision to betray Sabrina helps cause her murder and makes him a central object of Raze's revenge. Gizin later converts his body into a regenerative mass of Light Magic and Divine Qi, but Safa identifies and drains its true energy source before Raze kills him.

Biography

Sabrina's benefactor and betrayer

Gizin meets Sabrina when she is being excluded from work because of her connection to the disgraced Raze. At that point he is known as the six-star founder and chief executive of Green Magic Pharma rather than as a Grand Magus. He cleans the mud from her clothing, recognizes her skill with Light Magic and tailoring, and gives her a position developing enchanted healing garments without an interview. His apparent generosity is credible because his company already sells medicines that restore mana, treat addiction, and repair damaged cores. (Chapters 557–558)

For almost a year, Gizin maintains the appearance of an unusually good employer. Sabrina rises to lead her department, earns royalties, and sees him treating staff well. That trust becomes decisive when she discovers a supply route connecting Green Magic Pharma, the Noble Guild, and the substances implicated in Raze's downfall. Gizin assures her that she did the right thing, asks whether anyone else knows, claims that he is gathering evidence, and sends her home for her protection. His concern instead isolates the only witness who approached him. (Chapters 559–566)

The later account Raze gives establishes the consequence: Gizin alerts the others protecting the same criminal network, and Trubin murders Sabrina in her apartment. Gizin does not wield the killing spell himself, but he turns information entrusted to him as employer into the warning that enables the attack. By the time the Grand Magus institution is established, he has reached nine stars and become the largest supplier of both legal and illegal magical substances, converting a benevolent corporate reputation into political insulation. The medical empire's hidden supply chain

As Grand Magus, Gizin is officially responsible for medical magic. His potions are used by guilds to heal wounds and counter curses, and his pharmaceutical companies are credited with changing ordinary and magical life. The same reach hides a destructive trade in enhancement tools that can damage cores, create dependency, or leave users weaker. Raze's earliest covert campaign as the Dark Magus targets a Gizin employee and then one of his factories, but public faith in the company makes the underlying accusation difficult to believe. (Chapters 41, 239–242, 320)

The Cerebus Guild extends that system from commerce into enforcement and experimentation. Investigators find that Gizin funds the guild and tests enhancement products through it, while sensitive cases transferred to Cerebus disappear from ordinary oversight. Its Masked fighters use transformed energy bodies related to Gizin's later form, although the corpus does not specify which individual procedure he designed or personally performed. The relationship is strong enough that Raze treats dismantling Cerebus as the route to Gizin rather than as a separate conflict. (Chapters 795, 1081, 1196, 1520)

Gizin also receives power through the Rylon Religion in Pagna. Its adherents call him their Sun God, conduct sacrifices and host rituals involving the Divine Realm, and state that harvested energy is passed to him. Raze and Safa uncover the name before they know the full mechanism; only the later battle demonstrates that Gizin has mixed stolen Divine Qi with Light Magic inside his own altered core. The religion therefore supplies the extraordinary energy behind his claimed transcendence, while the exact route by which cross-world power reaches him remains unexplained. Exposure and the assault on the Underside

Raze's return to Alterian turns Gizin's hidden network into a public target. Evidence links Gizin's pills to students, military clients, and Ibarin's abuses at Central Academy. After defeating Ibarin, Raze names Gizin as the next Grand Magus he will pursue, ensuring that neither Gizin nor the public can treat the attacks on his facilities as disconnected crimes. The declaration also pressures the Dark Guild into deciding whether it will help expose the system it was created to oppose. (Chapters 1287, 1380, 1481, 1502–1520)

The resulting campaign attacks Gizin's factories and distribution centers, follows retreating Cerebus members, and releases enough evidence to trigger protests and vigilante action. Gizin initially avoids appearing in person while his commercial operations freeze around him. Once he realizes the Underside and Dark Guild provide a concentrated target, he orders every available force mobilized and the settlement annihilated. He explicitly plans to hide the full extent of his power from the other Grand Magi, showing that their alliance is based on mutual utility rather than trust. (Chapters 1574–1590)

Gizin sends hired guilds, Cerebus forces, and altered fighters into the Underside, forcing Raze's allies to divide between protecting shelters and fighting the Masked members. Raze counters by destroying enough troops and terrain to make continued absence untenable. Gizin finally descends through the opening with his cane and releases a concentrated golden beam on the people below. What begins as defense of his empire becomes a personal demonstration meant to prove that the Dark Magus cannot challenge the being Gizin believes he has become. (Chapters 1590–1603)

The self-proclaimed god

Gizin's golden attacks combine mastered Light Magic with Divine Qi taken through the Rylon system. He walks through open air, projects immense beams and orbiting volleys, and channels enough force through his cane to erase large parts of the Underside. Light has an elemental advantage against Raze's darkness, while the added Qi overwhelms even Raze's hybrid sword arts. Gizin values this output as proof of divinity and spends the fight taunting Raze rather than limiting collateral damage to the settlement he has ordered destroyed. (Chapters 1602, 1616–1617)

More dangerous than the attack power is the absence of a stable physical target. Swords and draining techniques pass through Gizin's outline; when an attack disperses it, Light Magic and Divine Qi reconstruct the body. Even Raze's strongest Eclipse Strike fails because surviving fragments reconverge. Gizin uses Sabrina's memory to provoke him and correctly analyzes several of his strategies, but his confidence rests on believing that an energy reserve no ordinary attack can seize is equivalent to immortality. (Chapters 1617, 1622–1623, 1635–1636)

Gizin escalates by generating scores of energy clones. Unlike Enaxx's divided bodies, these are extensions of the same luminous mass: each copy is slightly weaker, can pass through the others, and reforms from the shared reserve after destruction. Their number overwhelms Raze's superior technique, while Gizin learns the limits of Raze's time-reversal technique and predicts where Raze can reappear. The exchange shows Gizin is capable of analysis, yet Raze also identifies his central weakness—vast energy has replaced, rather than developed into, refined close-combat skill. (Chapters 1636–1638)

Safa's intervention and death

Safa changes the fight because her God Eyes can distinguish the true concentration of energy inside the clone field. Her own Light affinity and Divine Qi allow her spear to redirect Gizin's attacks and damage the core structure that resisted Raze's darkness. Gizin immediately recognizes her as a threat and pulls his clones into a defensive wall, but Raze disrupts their formations while Safa repeatedly reaches the source. Their cooperation turns his superior output into a finite reserve that must answer pressure from two incompatible directions. (Chapters 1644–1645)

Each spear strike extracts a strand of light and transfers it into Safa's core. Because all clones draw from and return power to the true Gizin, they flicker and vanish as she drains him. Raze's attacks still trigger Gizin's trained defensive instincts, creating openings even when they cannot directly damage the energy body. Once the reserve falls low enough, Gizin returns to physical form; the experiments that fused Divine Qi and Light Magic have left his core warped, hollow, and incapable of recovery. (Chapters 1645–1647)

Defeated, Gizin admits without remorse that Sabrina was killed only because she knew too much and that he built his fortune by removing competitors and threats. Raze draws out his last mana and life force, and Gizin dies after suggesting that the Grand Magi were preparing for a larger danger. Raze refuses him remains or a grave, using Dark Magic to consume flesh, bone, and residual energy. Later discoveries show his equipment and illegal production methods survived in other laboratories, but Gizin himself is definitively dead. (Chapters 1647–1648, 1693, 1750)

Appearance and personality

Gizin is introduced as an older man with light-orange hair, a top hat, a high-buttoned fitted blazer, and a cane topped with an eagle. Decades later his face and distinctive formal style appear unchanged; he uses the walking stick as a symbol even though he does not physically need support. During his final battle, golden energy surrounds his body until its human outline becomes a compressed, luminous construct rather than ordinary flesh. (Chapters 557–558, 1589, 1602, 1637)

His public manner is courteous, attentive, and deliberately unthreatening. He identifies useful talent, rewards Sabrina's work, and cultivates the image of a medical innovator rather than a battle mage. In private he is calculating, contemptuous of the Underside, and preoccupied with ownership and status. He can analyze unfamiliar techniques, but arrogance makes him enjoy destructive proof of his superiority. His final admission shows that apparent kindness never constrained his willingness to remove anyone who threatened his empire. (Chapters 557–566, 1589–1602, 1638, 1647)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Medical and Light Magic

Gizin is a Light-affinity mage whose original specialization is medical research. He is already six-star when Sabrina meets him and later reaches the nine-star ceiling associated with the Grand Magi. Through Green Magic Pharma, his work supports mana restoration, addiction treatment, curse relief, damaged-core repair, and healing enchantments. The corpus credits his company and position with those advances but does not demonstrate that he personally casts every treatment or invents every product attributed to the corporate network. (Chapters 239, 320, 557–558, 568)

In combat, Light Magic forms beams, blades, orbs, radiant barriers, and the substance of his altered body. It disperses or overpowers Dark Magic under ordinary elemental interaction, although sufficiently dense darkness and Raze's blazer can consume portions of it. Gizin's mastery supplies enormous scale but little demonstrated weapon technique; he swings his cane with raw speed and Divine reinforcement rather than trained sword forms. His last state contains almost no recoverable Light Magic after Safa drains the core. (Chapters 1602, 1616–1617, 1622–1623, 1637, 1647)

Pharmaceutical enhancement and Cerebus research

Gizin's companies produce both legitimate medicine and illicit enhancement substances. The illegal tools can temporarily increase magical strength while damaging cores, causing dependence, or creating a later decline. Cerebus functions as supplier, security arm, and experimental network, with Masked members whose bodies regenerate from unusual energy. Gizin's own altered form uses the same broad principle at far greater scale, but the text does not give a complete laboratory protocol or prove that every Cerebus transformation is identical to his. (Chapters 41, 795, 1287, 1578–1592, 1617)

His research ultimately modifies his magic core so Divine Qi and Light Magic circulate as a single reserve. The change grants power beyond conventional nine-star output but leaves the core structurally dependent on that energy. When Safa removes it, the alteration cannot be repaired and Gizin collapses toward ordinary physical vulnerability. This is engineered and stolen power rather than confirmed ascension to the Divine Realm, despite his repeated claim to be a god. (Chapters 1616, 1636–1637, 1646–1647)

Divine-energy body and regeneration

The Rylon Religion sends Gizin energy connected to the Divine Realm, which he mixes with Light Magic to replace or envelop his physical body. The result can stand in open air, phase through physical attacks, reconstruct after being dispersed, and produce devastating magical and Qi-enhanced blows. Raze cannot extract energy through ordinary Demonic Qi because there is no stable physical core within reach, and annihilating the visible body fails while scattered fragments remain outside the attack. (Chapters 963, 1616–1617, 1623, 1635–1637)

The reserve is immense but finite. Gizin can deliberately scatter energy to survive area attacks, yet every body and spell draws from the same source. Safa's God Eyes locate its true concentration, and her compatible Light and Divine power lets her redirect attacks and extract what Raze cannot grasp. As the reserve empties, regeneration stops, clones disappear, and physical resistance returns. Energy extraction and depletion are therefore demonstrated counters; ordinary dismemberment or brute-force dispersal is not. (Chapters 1636–1637, 1644–1647)

Energy clones

Gizin can reproduce his energy outline into dozens or hundreds of clones, each carrying a luminous cane and enough Divine Qi to strike independently. Duplication slightly weakens each copy but does not divide a conventional physical body. The copies pass through one another, coordinate attacks, cast Light projectiles, and reform after being shattered because they remain connected to Gizin's common reserve. They are extensions of his will rather than independently characterized beings. (Chapters 1636–1638)

Their shared source creates the critical interaction Safa exploits. An injury to the true concentration disrupts every clone, while direct extraction from it reduces the pool sustaining all copies. Gizin initially hides the source inside the mass and uses numbers to overcome Raze's footwork and time magic, but God Eyes remove that concealment. At his latest active state, the clones collapse permanently as the core is drained, and death ends access to the technique. (Chapters 1644–1648)

• Raze Cromwell: Gizin helps create Raze's fall by supplying the illegal network and warning the conspirators after Sabrina approaches him. Raze attacks his pharmaceutical operations, exposes his links, and ultimately coordinates with Safa to defeat him. Their final exchange refuses Gizin a grand justification: he describes Sabrina as an inconvenient witness, and Raze kills him without forgiveness. (Chapters 41, 242, 566–568, 1502–1520, 1602–1648)

• Sabrina: Gizin rescues Sabrina from public humiliation, employs and rewards her, and earns enough trust that she reports the Noble Guild evidence to him. He exploits that trust by isolating her and alerting his partners, enabling Trubin's murder. His last confession treats her as one more threat removed from his rise. (Chapters 557–568, 1647)

• Safa: Safa is the direct counter to Gizin's altered body. Her God Eyes identify his true energy concentration, while her Light Magic, Divine Qi, and cultivation method let her redirect and absorb its power. She strips the reserve sustaining his clones and regeneration, leaving him physical and allowing Raze to finish him. (Chapters 1644–1648)

• Ibarin: Gizin supplies substances used in Ibarin's academy schemes, and the evidence tying the two men together helps Raze expose Ibarin before naming Gizin as his next target. Their cooperation is criminal and strategic; Gizin's final reflections also indicate that the Grand Magi fear betrayal from one another. (Chapters 1026, 1380, 1481–1520, 1647)

• Idore and the Grand Magi: Gizin helps protect the shared magical and political order, but hides his full transformed power from the others and expects that one of the remaining Grand Magi may eventually kill him. His alliance with them brings security, supply routes, and influence without producing personal trust. (Chapters 568, 1589, 1636, 1647)

• Walking stick / cane: Gizin's eagle-headed cane begins as part of his corporate image and remains his principal combat focus. He channels beams and wide Light attacks through it, strikes with Divine Qi, and gives every energy clone a luminous copy. The corpus does not provide a formal item grade or explain whether the original cane is enchanted independently of Gizin's power. Raze knocks it away during the final extraction sequence.
