George

George is a leading Central Academy student whose rare gravity affinity and unusually conditioned body make him one of the academy tournament's most conspicuous competitors. His defeat by Liam, coerced use of an unstable pill, and rescue by Raze Cromwell strip away both his magic and his faith in Central's hierarchy.

Biography

Central Academy's Gravity Specialist

George enters the inter-academy tournament as a physically imposing representative of Central Academy. He demonstrates gravity magic with an iron sphere, first lifting it gently and then driving it into the ground with enough force to crack the earth. He has used increased gravity as bodily conditioning, and takes obvious pride in the rare balance of magical control and physical development that this training produced. (Chapters 1421–1422)

His first solo victory validates that confidence: George drags an incoming fireball into the floor, pins his opponent's limbs, and ends the match before she can recover. Against Liam, however, his wide gravitational field barely impedes a Qi-trained body, and Liam's special sword severs the spell itself. George cycles through ordinary elements and even weaponizes his iron sphere, but loses decisively. Afterward he rejects his teammates' excuses and admits that Liam was simply stronger, an early break from Central's assumption of superiority. (Chapters 1448 and 1457–1460)

The Pill, Extraction, and Defection

Central's students later take pills under institutional pressure and become temporarily saturated with unnatural mana. George returns to battle with explosive output, but the drug has twisted his mana core beyond repair and wrapped unstable power around his heart. Raze extracts that energy to prevent a fatal collapse; in George's case the technique also removes his gravity affinity. The rescue therefore saves his life while permanently ending his ability to cast, a distinction George initially has no way to verify. (Chapters 1479 and 1481–1482)

When Central staff move against the disabled students, George recognizes that their escort resembles an arrest. Unable to cast, he still uses his gravity-trained body to seize a mage's wrists, redirect a fireball, and knock the attacker down before another spell incapacitates him. He is horrified when Raze later demonstrates gravity magic, but accepts the explanation that the pills caused the core damage and that extraction prevented their deaths. George accepts Alen's protection for himself and his family, thanks Raze despite his remaining doubts, and stays with the group because the Grand Magus still wants them dead. (Chapters 1484–1491 and 1505)

By the end of the conflict, George's assumptions about mages, warriors, and authority have been overturned. He watches former enemies protect civilians and recognizes that the world he understood has “flipped.” His latest scene nevertheless preserves his boisterous pride: seeing Raze use gravity, he boasts that even someone so powerful relies on his former affinity. The corpus does not show his mana core or affinity being restored. (Chapters 1509 and 1515)

Appearance and personality

George is broad-shouldered, massively muscular, and described as a “mountain” of a student. His physique comes from years of training under magically increased gravity rather than ordinary mage practice. He is proud enough to display his torso during the tournament, yet his confidence is not wholly inflexible: after Liam defeats him, he can acknowledge an opponent's superiority even when his own academy peers refuse to do so. (Chapters 1421–1422 and 1460)

He can be theatrical, competitive, and boastful, especially about gravity magic and his physical conditioning. Under genuine danger he also becomes observant and pragmatic, identifying Central's attempted arrest, fighting without magic, worrying about his family, and accepting help from people he had been taught to regard as enemies. (Chapters 1485–1491 and 1515)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Gravity magic

George's innate special affinity allows him to alter gravitational force across an area or around a target. He can increase an object's falling acceleration, pull an iron sphere back to his hand, bend projectiles into the ground, immobilize limbs, blanket a battlefield in crushing pressure, and apply gravity through direct contact. He also accelerates his iron sphere as a high-speed projectile. His training under heavier gravity hardens his own body, but pushing that conditioning further is described as dangerous. Strong Pagna bodies can resist his field, and Liam's cutting weapon can sever his magical connection to it. Raze extracts the affinity in Chapter 1481, leaving George without later access to it. (Chapters 1422, 1448, 1457–1459, and 1481–1482)

General spellcraft and physical combat

George is not limited to his special affinity. He redirects lightning and casts earth, water, fire, and lightning spells with refined control, though Liam neutralizes each during their match. After his core is ruined, George remains a formidable body mage: he can grapple a caster, force a spell off target, and finish with knees and punches. Physical training does not protect him from a clean magical hit, and lightning quickly incapacitates him. His latest demonstrated state is therefore a strong, trained non-caster rather than an active mage. (Chapters 1457–1458, 1482, and 1486)

Relationships

  • Liam: Liam defeats George by resisting and cutting through his gravity. The loss forces George to admit that Central's elite can be surpassed.
  • Raze Cromwell: Raze extracts the pill's lethal energy and George's affinity. George first suspects theft, then gives guarded thanks for the rescue and recognizes Raze as protection against the Grand Magus.
  • Alen: George accepts Alen's offer of protection and explicitly asks him to safeguard George's family.
  • Kelly: Kelly helps the disabled Central students understand their danger and escape; George fights a staff mage who threatens her.
  • Kayzel: George initially follows Central's prodigy culture alongside Kayzel, but their responses to defeat expose George's growing willingness to question it.

Items

  • Iron sphere: George stores this dense training and combat sphere in a ring. Gravity lets him vary its fall, recall it, and launch it as a projectile. Its custody after he loses his affinity is not established.
  • Storage ring: Holds George's iron sphere; no later transfer is shown.
  • Unstable enhancement pill: A drug supplied under Central Academy's authority that temporarily floods George with mana but irreparably destroys his mana core. It is not a lasting possession.
