Elvlin

Elvlin, also rendered Elivin, is a compact but powerful glaive user of the Crimson Crane's wanderer clan. She repeatedly supports the Dark Magus under Alba's leadership, then accepts a paid mission to seize the Lux Sword and chooses the weapon over her existing clan bond with Raze, a betrayal that ends in her death.

Biography

Service with the Crimson Crane

Elvlin is introduced asleep on the floor while holding a glaive larger than her body, one of the established Crimson Crane members gathered around Alba. When Raze supplies pills and equipment support, she is the first to test the improvement, putting her small frame behind a forceful glaive strike. She later travels and fights with the clan through the academy and Behemoth conflicts, including an ambush after leaving a dimension with Tilon and Lily. (Chapters 200–295)

When the Crimson Crane debates whether to help the Dark Magus attack the academy, Elvlin understands that participation could mean death or permanent pursuit by the Dark Faction, yet joins the operation. She fights as part of the clan's coordinated force, witnesses Raze's unfamiliar flight-like magic, and later recovers her lost glaive in another dimension. Her thought that the Dark Magus might eventually make her a better weapon foreshadows how strongly equipment begins to shape her choices. (Chapters 409–452)

The Lux Sword mission and death

Elvlin accepts a richly paid Rylon mission to recover the Lux Spear, then leads hired wanderers into the Lethal Bite compound, where they kill recruits and hold Ivor while demanding the sword. She initially hesitates against its masked bearer because his face feels familiar, but the weapon's energy persuades her that taking it could fund or replace her glaive. After recognizing Raze, she still orders the group to attack and personally keeps him occupied with heavy glaive strikes. (Chapters 533–541)

Raze binds Elvlin after defeating the other attackers. She admits that the sword swayed her, but her apology does not answer his belief that she would have killed him had he been weaker; she then invokes Alba and the Crimson Crane as protection. Raze beheads her, arguing that someone who saw the clan as family would not have attacked a clanmate for gain. Alba later verifies the circumstances, mourns Elvlin as a respected member, and holds a funeral without seeking vengeance against Raze. (Chapters 541–583)

Appearance and personality

Elvlin has a small body frame contrasted with a glaive larger than she is, demonstrating physical power before she speaks. Her first scene depicts her sleeping while clutching the weapon. The earliest passage uses masculine pronouns, while the later and decisive chapters consistently refer to Elvlin as a woman; no more specific hair, eye, or clothing description is established. (Chapters 200 and 533–542)

She is initially relaxed within the Crimson Crane, willing to risk dangerous work under Alba, and alert enough to explain unusual opponents to allies. Her fatal weakness is acquisitiveness: she convinces herself that the Lux Sword could strengthen both herself and the clan, then treats earlier aid to Raze as grounds for demanding it. Fear and regret follow only after she is defeated, leaving the sincerity of her final apology impossible to establish. (Chapters 409–452 and 540–542)

Magic, cultivation, and abilities

Elvlin is an experienced Pagna warrior who channels Qi through a large glaive. Despite her size, she produces heavy repeated blows, clashes strongly enough with a middle-stage Raze to ripple Qi through the room, and is treated by the other hired wanderers as their most formidable combatant. Her combat method emphasizes sweeping attacks, overhead power, and keeping a target occupied for allies. (Chapters 208 and 540–541)

Her strength does not overcome Raze's mixed magic and martial arts. The Lux Sword and defensive blazer weaken or absorb parts of her impact, lightning disrupts her allies, and Shadow Bind restrains her after Raze knocks aside the glaive. Elvlin recognizes his strange magic and improved cultivation but misattributes too much of his growth to the sword, a judgment that contributes directly to the attack and her defeat. No later progression exists because she dies in Chapter 542. (Chapters 540–542)

Relationships

• Alba: Alba treats Elvlin as family and later ensures she is remembered and given a funeral. She nevertheless accepts that Elvlin's greed caused the confrontation and does not blame Raze for defending himself.
• Raze Cromwell: Elvlin repeatedly supports Raze under Alba's orders and expects a weapon from the Dark Magus. Their association ends when she recognizes him while pursuing the Lux Sword and knowingly chooses to continue the attack.
• Tilon and the Crimson Crane: Elvlin travels and fights beside the other members. Her death divides their reactions: Tilon and Lily are angry, while the group ultimately follows Alba's conclusion that Elvlin broke faith first.

• Glaive: Elvlin's oversized personal weapon and the center of her fighting style. She loses and recovers it during dimensional travel, briefly considers replacing it, and wields it in her final battle. Its grade and final custody after her death are not stated. (Chapters 200, 452, and 540–542)
• Lux Spear: Known to Elvlin as the Lux Sword, this is the target of her Rylon contract, not an item she ever possesses. She attempts to take it from Raze after recognizing him and dies without acquiring it. (Chapters 533–542)
