Monarch Peacock

Monarch Peacock is the Demon Realm's most dangerous fifth Firmament combatant during the World Gap campaign. His divine power, Heaven Devouring, changes his bloodline after he consumes an ancient beast's corpse, giving him a body close to that of a true Dark Peacock and strength capable of defeating demon sages head-on. The Imperial Lords use that exceptional body as the spearhead of their strongest formation, but repeated conflict with Meng Chuan eventually forces Peacock to choose the hostile outer realm over certain death inside the World Gap. Biography

The decisive war and outer realm

Peacock is first established by reputation as one of only two fifth Firmament demon monarchs in the Demon Realm capable of defeating demon sages. By the time the Imperial Lords summon him, he has fewer than one hundred years to live and no known way to reverse his age: the available longevity methods are devoured by his Dark Peacock bloodline, while his Darkness lineage does not provide the needed transformation. That deadline makes him carefree and difficult to intimidate, yet not disloyal. He accepts the World Gap mission because rewards may still benefit him and because the Imperial Lords remain powerful enough to kill him if he refuses. (Chapters 318, 442–443)

Paired with the Eighteen Black River Guard, Peacock becomes the direct-combat center of the demons' largest ambush. He advances alone against humanity's elite, survives a Magic Awl, a Tribulation cauldron, and King True Martial's strongest combined attack, then uses Heaven Devouring to compress the Godfiends' movement while the Black River formation fires on them. His pressure helps cause human deaths, but the battle also establishes limits the Imperial Lords' investment cannot remove: True Martial's domain weakens the suction, coordinated attacks leave residual injuries despite Peacock's regeneration, and the destruction of the Guard ends the formation advantage without giving Peacock the decisive victory he sought. Over the following decades, Peacock repeatedly fights Meng Chuan in the World Gap and treats those encounters as a possible route to a late Grotto-Heaven breakthrough. He deliberately returns hoping that combat will sharpen his technique and that killing Meng Chuan will earn access to the Demon Ancestral Cave, but Meng Chuan's improved domain, deep-void false body, and accelerated Bloodblades overturn their prior balance. When repeated impacts begin eroding his vitality faster than he can restore it, Peacock does not attempt the long retreat to a world connection point. He crosses the fractured world's edge into the outer realm, endures its initial assault through his Dark Peacock body, and embraces the chance to spend his remaining decades traveling where that bloodline belongs. No later scene confirms his death, return, breakthrough, or current location. (Chapters 471–474, 515)

Appearance and personality

Peacock appears as a tall, muscular man with long black hair reaching his waist and purple eyes described as domineering. He wears black or dark-purple clothing and fights with an unnamed dark-purple spear. When his bloodline power rises, an enormous black peacock phantom spreads its wings behind him; the corpus does not show him fully transforming into a true Dark Peacock, and explicitly states that one further awakening would probably be required. (Chapters 442, 447–448)

His short remaining lifespan shapes his behavior. Peacock walks slowly into an Imperial Lord audience, greets rulers with casual confidence, and becomes excited rather than frightened when True Martial proves capable of injuring him. This fearlessness is not mindless: he obeys overwhelming authority, recognizes when Meng Chuan's attacks will eventually exhaust his vitality, and chooses a dangerous escape route unavailable to ordinary fifth Firmament demons. The outer realm changes his panic into ambition because it converts a forced retreat into a life he had not dared attempt on his own. (Chapters 442–443, 447–448, 471–474)

Abilities and cultivation

Peacock combines fifth Firmament demonic cultivation, a mutated Dark Peacock body, the divine power Heaven Devouring, extreme regeneration, and spear technique at the Grotto-Heaven realm's middle stage. His bloodline supplies most of his exceptional combat standing; the corpus contrasts it with Holy Lady Strings's higher technical refinement. He seeks a late-stage breakthrough through battle, but none is confirmed before he leaves the World Gap, and he never becomes a demon sage in the supplied corpus. (Chapters 318, 420, 442–474)

Dark Peacock bloodline and Heaven Devouring

Heaven Devouring originally lets Peacock consume an ancient beast's corpse. The successful consumption mutates his bloodline and pushes his body close to that of a true Dark Peacock, a powerful outer-realm lifeform comparable in standing to true dragons and phoenixes. The same bloodline resists outside alteration: the Demon Realm's two available longevity methods are consumed rather than extending his life, leaving him unable to avoid old age through those routes. His latest demonstrated bloodline state is near-true rather than complete, with no final awakening shown. (Chapters 318, 442, 447)

In combat, Peacock opens his mouth to activate Heaven Devouring, causing the surrounding void to distort and spatial pressure to compress targets toward him. Inside the Black River Array, this pressure restricts the human team's movement and makes the formation's spear attacks much harder to dodge. It is not an irresistible pull. True Martial's domain reduces its effect, sufficiently powerful opponents remain able to resist, and Peacock has to stop maintaining it when a direct attack demands his full defense. The Black River itself belongs to the Eighteen Black River Guard; Peacock's divine power amplifies that formation but does not create it. (Chapters 448–453)

The bloodline also changes how his Essence Soul is protected. Although Peacock has only a fifth-level Essence Soul, a dark vortex inside his body pulls at King Thousand Wood's Magic Awl, cracks it, and prevents the attacker from locating the Essence Soul directly. Peacock still grunts in pain, so the defense mitigates rather than erases the attack. The corpus presents the vortex as integrated with his altered body and possibly his Essence Soul, but does not explain a separate activation method or prove immunity to stronger soul techniques. Regeneration, physical combat, and survival

Peacock's body can re-form after being pulverized. True Martial's strongest attack reduces him to nothing visible, yet power gathers and reconstructs an apparently uninjured body; later Bloodblade strikes destroy most of him repeatedly and his flesh fuses back together almost at once. Recovery is not infinite. True Martial judges that approximately twenty repetitions of his strongest blow could kill Peacock, while Peacock himself realizes Meng Chuan's smaller repeated destructions are damaging his underlying vitality and will eventually annihilate him. Regeneration therefore restores form faster than it clears cumulative loss. (Chapters 447–448, 472–473)

His body supports exceptional speed, strength, and close combat. Peacock flies faster than fifteen kilometers per second with a peacock phantom manifested behind him, blocks heavy attacks with one hand or his spear, and uses the spear to project darkness across several kilometers. His Grotto-Heaven-middle-stage technique makes the weapon's circular defense difficult to penetrate, but it cannot cover twenty-four Bloodblades accelerated from multiple directions. The dark-purple spear and a faction-bestowed Tribulation treasure are equipment, not innate power; neither is assigned to him as qualifying personal inventory in the manifest. (Chapters 447–448, 471–473)

The altered body is also the reason Peacock survives beyond a world membrane despite remaining below the demon-sage realm. Entry into the outer realm initially makes him convulse and cry out, confirming real environmental danger, but he regains control and can fly onward as a beam of light. This is demonstrated survival, not proof of ordinary demon-sage mobility: Roc believes Peacock's travel through the River of Spacetime will remain extremely slow, and no later source establishes where he reaches or whether he survives beyond his stated remaining lifespan. Relationships

• Holy Lady Strings: A fellow peak demon combatant who has sparred with Peacock repeatedly and regards his special body as stronger than her broader technical mastery. During the Black River battle, she supports his direct assault and warns him about True Martial.
• King True Martial: Peacock's strongest human opponent during the main World Gap campaign. Peacock initially suppresses him with formation support, survives his maximum attack, and welcomes the injury as a rare challenge, but cannot break True Martial's defense before the formation collapses.
• Meng Chuan: Peacock's recurring rival and hoped-for breakthrough opponent. Their balance shifts as Meng Chuan's void control and Bloodblades improve; Meng Chuan ultimately forces Peacock across the world's edge, indirectly giving him the resolve to roam the outer realm.
