Holy Lady Strings
Holy Lady Strings is one of the Demon Realm's strongest fifth Firmament demon monarchs during the decisive phase of the war. A spider demoness with a self-created void-thread technique and a sixth-level Essence Soul, she leads elite teams, survives direct clashes with Meng Chuan, and later receives the Nine Lives Cocoon. Her driving cultivation goal is not conquest alone but reaching the Heaven Earth realm through her Strings Technique, reversing her age, and restoring the vitality needed to attempt the demon sage realm. (Chapters 420–529)
Biography
The decisive war and outer realm
Strings first leads a five-demon hunting team in the World Gap, where her improved spiderweb domain finds Meng Chuan inside the void. Confident after creating a demon sage-level ultimate technique, she chooses to surround him rather than withdraw. Meng Chuan's speed and a hidden Dao Protector overturn the battle: three of her companions die, Magic Awl strikes heavily injure her Essence Soul, and only her close-range spider-silk robe prevents her death. She acknowledges afterward that her post-breakthrough arrogance helped cause Quicksand's death, but promises revenge rather than abandoning the war. (Chapters 420–426)
The Imperial Lords later pair Strings with Demon Monarch Coldmoon and Poison Dragon and give her the Nine Lives Cocoon. She uses its threads to contain a human team at long range, form white-snake attacks, and survive the united Godfiend counteroffensive. When Meng Chuan enters the deep void and destroys the Black River Guard, Strings cannot protect the dispersed operators even with the treasure and retreats with the other surviving leaders. She then helps command the array-protected World Gap mission, recommends patience when the humans refuse a decoy, and continues to distinguish her own field judgments from plans imposed by the Imperial Lords. (Chapters 442–464)
In the final large entry attempt, Strings leads one of the demon columns and uses concentrated threads to cut through both world membranes. She stays in the World Gap because entering the human world would expose her to Creation Supremacies while adding little to the dispersed attack. Meng Chuan's avatars capture the forces she sends through, leaving the operation defeated without a direct final duel with Strings. The latest evidence still treats her as the Demon Realm's strongest active fifth Firmament combatant after Monarch Peacock disappears and as necessary for maintaining control in the World Gap; it does not establish her later death, demon sage breakthrough, or recovery of youth. (Chapters 514–529)
Appearance and personality
Strings appears in human form as a devilishly charming woman, sometimes wearing a black veil and elegant robes. Under pressure her charming expression can become cold or contorted. Her natural identity as a spider demon is visible through her techniques rather than a fully described true form: she produces real spider silk, shapes it into a protective robe, and projects vast webs through demonic power. The corpus does not give colors or anatomical details for a transformed spider body. (Chapters 420–425, 442–443)
She is proud, controlled, and tactically observant. Strings initially believes her World Gap breakthrough makes human Regis Godfiends manageable, but after losing companions she analyzes Meng Chuan's speed, correctly infers a time-affecting divine power, and becomes more careful about enemy ranges. She also shows genuine attachment to Quicksand, a longtime follower whose corpse she retrieves and mourns. Her desire for revenge coexists with a practical willingness to retreat, report losses, protect critical operators, and prolong a campaign when a direct attack would waste resources. (Chapters 421–426, 443–464)
Abilities and cultivation
Strings Technique and void spiderweb
Strings develops the Strings Technique by refining her spider divine power and fusing the opposed qualities of hardness and softness. At the late Grotto-Heaven stage, demonic power becomes razor-sharp void threads that interweave into a three-dimensional spiderweb across a vast region. The domain detects hidden movement, binds escape routes, attacks from unpredictable angles, and can mix shallow and deep void layers close to her, forcing an infiltrating target outward. Her breakthrough expands its reach and lets her contest opponents who previously could have escaped. (Chapters 420–425)
The wide web trades force for coverage. Powerful fire can burn ordinary projected threads, Meng Chuan's time-altered speed can outrun their interception, and a stronger domain can tear through them. Strings therefore uses naturally produced physical spider silk within roughly half a kilometer for her best defense: it forms a robe or cocoon several times tougher than the projected web and can also attack nearby enemies. This close-range silk is an innate bodily product shaped by her technique, not an effect of the Nine Lives Cocoon. (Chapters 423–425, 443–445)
Her intended progression is explicit but incomplete. Strings believes that bringing the Yin-Yang fusion of her technique to the Heaven Earth realm could reverse her old age and restore peak vitality, allowing another attempt at becoming a demon sage. She has created a demon sage-level ultimate technique and can cut through two world membranes, but the corpus continues to call her a fifth Firmament demon monarch. Her latest state therefore remains below both the Heaven Earth technique threshold and demon sage cultivation. (Chapters 420–426, 514–529)
Essence Soul and Black Lotus
Strings has a sixth-level Essence Soul and can make it corporeal as a black lotus. The Black Lotus mystic technique links the Power of Essence Soul of multiple teammates, shields them from ordinary soul attacks, and lets Strings replace a fallen illusion specialist as the formation's core. Her Essence Soul domain also warns her of Magic Awl and lets her vaguely sense activity in the deep void. These abilities make her unusually balanced across physical, domain, and Essence Soul combat. (Chapters 421–424, 452)
Her Essence Soul attainment is defensive rather than supreme. A Dao Protector's Magic Awl pierces the lotus petals twice, destroys part of her Origins, and leaves her lucid but unable to control exquisite techniques. The attack also cracks the Magic Awl, so continued penetration carries risk for the attacker; nevertheless, the injury would have been fatal without her spider-silk robe. Later planning treats Magic Awl range as a reason to fight from beyond twenty-five kilometers, confirming that the Black Lotus reduces danger without nullifying specialized soul weapons. (Chapters 424–426, 443–456)
Nine Lives Cocoon
The Nine Lives Cocoon is an external Tribulation treasure selected for life preservation, not the source of Strings's original Strings Technique. It releases a limited supply of exceptionally tough threads that she mixes with her own void silk. She can spread them as a domain, concentrate them into one large or several smaller white snakes, form a protective cocoon or robe, and wrap allies. In her hands the treasure raises overall combat strength to the peak Creation-realm level and preserves the long-range flexibility of her personal technique. (Chapters 443–445, 449–453)
Distance and divided attention weaken control. About thirty-five to fifty kilometers is her preferred attack range, while spreading the treasure's threads over several kilometers cannot perfectly protect many Black River Guard members. Fire, layered arrays, the True Martial domain, and Bloodblades emerging at close range can break or bypass dispersed threads. The last explicit custody remains with Strings in the Black River battle; the corpus does not show the treasure's destruction, transfer, or later ownership. (Chapters 443–453)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Late Grotto-Heaven Strings Technique | 420–421 | Fuses hardness and softness in her spider divine power, expanding the void web's reach and control while remaining a fifth Firmament demon monarch. |
| Essence Soul Origins damaged | 424–425 | A Dao Protector's Magic Awl destroys part of her soul foundation and disrupts exquisite control; the Black Lotus mitigates but does not prevent the injury. |
| Nine Lives Cocoon | 443 | Receives and controls an external Tribulation treasure whose threads temporarily raise her overall combat standing to peak Creation level. |
Relationships
- Meng Chuan: Strings's recurring human opponent. His speed defeats her first encirclement, his deep-void Bloodblade attack penetrates her distributed protection, and his avatars later capture the troops she sends through the world membranes.
- Monarch Peacock: The only fifth Firmament demon monarch Strings considers clearly stronger in their early rivalry. They later cooperate as senior leaders, although Peacock's direct-combat temperament differs from her more cautious command style.
- Demon Monarch Coldmoon: Strings's assigned teammate during the enhanced World Gap campaign. Their long-range and shadow techniques complement each other until Coldmoon dies in battle.
- Quicksand: A longtime subordinate and close companion. Strings uses his binding body to support her attacks, retrieves his corpse after his death, and admits that her own overconfidence contributed to the loss.
- King True Martial: The human domain specialist whose True Martial domain suppresses the Nine Lives Cocoon's attacks and lets the united Godfiends advance through Strings's web.
Items
- Nine Lives Cocoon: A Tribulation treasure wielded by Strings during the later World Gap battles. Its limited but exceptionally durable threads provide white-snake attacks, wide-area restraint, and a complete defensive cocoon; they remain distinct from her innate spider silk.
- Transmission token: A command tool used to receive Imperial Lord orders and coordinate other demon teams. The corpus does not identify it as unique to Strings or describe its later custody.
