Marquis Southcloud

Marquis Southcloud is a powerful Wu State Marquis Godfiend who answers Eastcalm Prefecture's call after the Nine Convocation invasion. He investigates the young survivors, arranges safer travel for endangered candidates, escorts Wu State entrants to Archean Mountain, and later serves in major city-pass defenses. (Chapters 67–76 and 137–290)

Biography

Guiding candidates into wartime service

Southcloud interviews Meng Chuan about his sudden combat breakthrough, explains to Liu Qiyue that her awakened Phoenix Divine Body makes immediate Archean Mountain protection necessary, and warns Yan Jin that the sword mark will expose his identity to assassins. When Yan Jin refuses the safest options, Southcloud accepts a practical compromise and sends him toward the entrance examination with the protected group. (Chapters 67–70)

He later leads Wu State's candidates and families to Archean City, observes the examination, and continues wartime deployment. At North River Pass he transfers personnel as Meng Chuan's team arrives; during the larger invasion he guards Jade Origins Pass and later sees Meng Chuan fighting there. His final scenes leave him alive and aware that the former candidate has surpassed him. (Chapters 73–76, 137, 197, and 289–290)

Appearance and personality

Southcloud is fair, beardless, modest, and refined, with an amiable smile resembling an ordinary scholar's. He is attentive to young cultivators' safety and sometimes impatient with Yan Jin's refusal of protection, but ultimately works within the youth's choices. The corpus gives no family history or private cultivation goal. (Chapters 67–74)

Abilities and cultivation

He is an established Marquis Godfiend able to fly, respond between prefectures, guard a medium city pass, and assess unusual mortal breakthroughs. The corpus does not name his Godfiend body, weapon, domain, or signature technique. His later acknowledgment that Meng Chuan's strength exceeds his own provides comparison, not evidence that Southcloud has weakened. (Chapters 67–76 and 289–290)
