Ge Yu

Ge Yu, commonly addressed as Dean Ge Yu, heads Mirror Lake Dao Academy and teaches Meng Chuan during his mortal cultivation. Though notorious for greed, alcohol, and reckless conduct, he is also Eastcalm Prefecture's fastest saber user and gives serious instruction to his most talented disciple. (Chapters 2–24)

Biography

Teaching Eastcalm's swift-saber talent

Meng Dajiang sends the eight-year-old Meng Chuan to Ge Yu because the dean is the prefecture's best swift-saber practitioner. Years later, Ge Yu oversees academy competitions, brings disciples to Jadesun Palace, and publicly recognizes Meng Chuan's dominance among his peers. His personal habits make him a comic and imperfect authority, but the narration distinguishes them from his technical value as a teacher. (Chapters 2–17)

When Meng Chuan reaches the limits of the Falling Leaf Saber, Ge Yu explains the path toward Saber Force and spars with him every half-month. He gives detailed pointers to junior disciples after those sessions. Ge Yu later sees Meng Chuan and Liu Qiyue off to Archean Mountain and is present at their wedding; no death or later cultivation change is stated. (Chapters 18–24, 70, and 159)

Appearance and personality

Ge Yu is introduced red-faced, reeking of alcohol, and often drinking. He is greedy, petty, and willing to accept benefits from Meng Dajiang, yet attentive toward Meng Chuan and unusually amiable after a worthy performance. The corpus supports this mixed portrait rather than either idealizing him or dismissing his teaching as insincere. (Chapters 7–9 and 24)

Abilities and cultivation

Ge Yu has comprehended Saber Force and specializes in fast saber techniques. His value to Meng Chuan lies in live sparring, analysis of the perfected Falling Leaf Saber, and guidance toward a higher conceptual realm. The corpus does not establish that he becomes a Godfiend, names no supernatural body, and gives no later battlefield feats. (Chapters 2, 18, and 24)
