Dean Chang

Dean Chang is the grizzled head of Archean Mountain's Jiang State branch during the assault on Jiang State Capital. He observes the citywide fighting, dispatches information and reinforcements, tends the surviving defenders, and helps the branch continue functioning through the Great Relocation Plan. Biography

Coordinating a besieged city

From the branch's bell tower, Dean Chang monitors the invasion and holds a sealed black wooden box whose use is restricted until the defenders are collapsing or mass civilian deaths cross a stated threshold. Rather than activating it prematurely, he passes intelligence about Blackwater Palace Lord to the field team and supports the Godfiends who return from battle. After Meng Chuan arrives wounded, Chang replaces his ruined standard armor and reports the eastern district's losses. (Chapters 171, 181–183)

He remains at the branch after the immediate battle, watches Zhang Yunfeng and Meng Chuan depart for another emergency, and later sees their team off when Marquis Swallow Mountain assumes responsibility for the city. His final scene leaves him alive; no later cultivation change or death is supplied. (Chapters 183 and 187)

Appearance and personality

Dean Chang has grizzled hair. His conduct is careful and supportive: he respects the restrictions on a dangerous emergency measure, promptly relays intelligence, replaces damaged equipment, and openly honors sacrificial service. The corpus does not describe his clothing, age, family, or motives outside his branch duties. (Chapters 171–187)

Abilities and cultivation

He is a Godfiend trusted to direct an Archean Mountain branch, but the corpus does not name his Godfiend body, realm, weapon art, or personal combat techniques. His demonstrated strengths are battlefield observation, communication, logistics, and custody of a restricted emergency box; because the box is never activated in these scenes, its mechanics and ownership should not be inferred.
