Yang Su-jin

Yang Su-jin is a previous-generation Ender and the founder of the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect in A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation. For most of the story, later generations meet only what he left behind: fate-shadows, divided consciousness, conditional afterimages, ritual arrangements, and a severed finger retaining immense authority. Those manifestations are not interchangeable with the historical man, and some may no longer express his unaltered will. The restored Yang Su-jin who fights personally in the Audience Chamber is likewise distinct from Jeon Myeong-hoon, his sect-line successor rather than his reincarnation.

Biography

An Ender builds a sect against fate

Yang Su-jin is born with the Heavenly Golden Thunder Body and a fate entangled with Heavenly Punishment. Seeking a way to overturn the destiny assigned to him, he develops the Red Lightning Heavenly Tribulation Method and imagines a superior Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Decree. His struggle is never merely private advancement: he wants later Enders to survive the forces that repeatedly discover, use, and destroy them. (Chapters 232–234, 589, 692–694)

He founds the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Sect as both a cultivation lineage and a hidden mechanism. Roughly 9,500 methods separately preserve the rites of Extinguishing Divine Tribulating Heavens, while Ascension Path, Shattered Heaven Peak, treasure vaults, prophecies, and seals extend his plans beyond death. The sect therefore inherits genuine teaching, but it also becomes infrastructure for a founder willing to arrange communities and descendants around a war they do not fully understand. Yang Su-jin reaches the pinnacle among True Immortals and ultimately dies as an Immortal Lord after challenging the Future King. He fails to complete the Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Decree, and the sect later suffers destruction connected to the enemies and karma he leaves behind. His desire for freedom hardens into the claim that only Enders are truly human, revealing how resistance to predestination has become a justification for denying the personhood of everyone caught inside it. Warnings and rites for later Enders

At Shattered Heaven Peak, a blood-weeping shadow of Yang Su-jin’s fate identifies Seo Eun-hyun as a later Ender and warns him never to reveal that identity. The brief encounter establishes a posthumous warning network: narrow conditions allow a leftover arrangement to find a successor, deliver knowledge, and disappear. Its urgency is protective, but the shadow is not the living Immortal Lord returning intact. (Chapter 80)

Other fragments intervene more directly. The Ascension Gate pushes Seo out of the Head Realm, and a divided consciousness later explains the Governing Immortals, failed predecessors, and the danger of exposure. Yang Su-jin converts the sect’s thousands of methods into rites within Seo and blocks a deeper entity’s gaze. The remnant can advise and shield him, yet it possesses only the knowledge and intent separated from the original at the time of division. (Chapters 138, 232–234)

A crimson afterimage later presses Seo strongly enough to help him sever a fate connection before dissolving. Seo accepts the secrecy, techniques, and practical aid, but rejects Yang Su-jin’s doctrine that non-Enders are not human. Their posthumous teacher-successor bond consequently becomes an argument over what escape is for: Yang Su-jin preserves a way to resist fate, while Seo refuses to purchase that resistance by erasing the moral reality of other people. The ring finger and unreliable remains

Long after Yang Su-jin’s death, his severed ring finger blocks the entrance to the Sun and Moon Heavenly Domain and anchors the Lightning Sacred Sea. The remain carries prophecy, the Great Desolate Path, and force assessed at Great Net Immortal scale. Seo eventually pulls it free and swallows it as a successor, but this transfer is custody of a powerful bodily remnant, not a conversation with Yang Su-jin’s whole surviving consciousness. His treasure vault, Ascension Path seal, and lingering thoughts also continue operating. A dragon-vein and principle seal restrains the Heavenly Void Furnace, while a thought bearing Yang Su-jin’s appearance blesses Seo and directs him inside. The guidance opens otherwise inaccessible history and law, yet it also leads into danger shaped by powers capable of exploiting the dead Ender’s arrangements. (Chapters 636, 677–678, 790–797)

Seo notices that one later afterimage answers like a puppet wearing Yang Su-jin’s shell, especially around Hong Fan’s presence. That uncertainty changes how the legacy must be read: familiar speech and appearance do not prove original agency, and a mechanism may be manipulated without restoring its maker. By the end of this phase, most fragments have dissipated, been absorbed, or become suspect, leaving their effects valuable but their testimony conditional. (Chapters 790–797)

Restoration and the unfinished conversation

The Audience Chamber restores Enders from prior eras for the confrontation with the Future King. Yang Su-jin then appears as the personal Immortal Lord rather than a relic-mediated shadow. He attacks with red lightning, helps restrain the being that once toyed with and killed him, and transforms into lightning to carry Seo through the conflict. Restoration reconnects person and authority without turning earlier remnants retroactively into his uninterrupted living presence. (Chapters 790–801)

After the battle, Yang Su-jin speaks privately with Jeon Myeong-hoon, who has inherited the Golden Divine lineage, related lightning fate, and pursuit-karma without becoming Yang Su-jin reborn. Jeon entrusts Zhengli to him so that the older Ender can assume responsibility for the connection he once fled. The exchange passes a burden between distinct people rather than completing a reincarnation or merging their identities. (Chapters 801–806)

Yang Su-jin chooses to remain in the world instead of departing with other restored Enders. He intends to finish the conversation abandoned in his former life and explicitly frames the choice as an attempt at redemption. His latest direction reverses the old doctrine that only Enders count as human: survival is no longer enough if it merely preserves the division by which he excused the use of everyone else. Appearance and personality

Yang Su-jin’s early manifestations are dark or crimson fate-shadows whose eyes stream blood tears. They fade as bubbles, light, or afterimages, visually marking the gap between a persistent arrangement and a living body. His restored Transformation form is not given a stable detailed human description; red lightning identifies his authority, but it does not establish his hair, eyes, age, or ordinary clothing. (Chapters 80, 232–234, 269, 677, 801)

He is ingenious, secretive, mocking toward higher beings, and willing to build plans across civilizations and enormous spans of time. Concern for later Enders drives genuine warning and sacrifice, while despair makes him ruthless toward people he believes fate has reduced to objects. Restoration does not erase that history. His choice to face Zhengli and remain behind matters because it admits an unfinished obligation instead of presenting his former choices as already justified. Abilities and cultivation

Yang Su-jin’s secure historical endpoint is Immortal Lord. Earlier mortal and immortal ladder milestones are not narrated in sequence, so his profile is defined by the Heavenly Golden Thunder Body, red-lightning authority, fate-resistant ritual, and posthumous arrangements rather than an invented step-by-step rise. The Great-Net-scale finger and the power of individual remnants describe surviving components, not regressions in his personal realm. (Chapters 232–234, 589, 613, 801)

Heavenly Golden Thunder Body and red lightning

The Heavenly Golden Thunder Body draws heavenly lightning at extreme output, while the Red Lightning Heavenly Tribulation Method expresses Yang Su-jin’s characteristic crimson force. At Immortal scale, lightning functions as cultivation foundation, attack, seal, and Transformation movement. The restored Yang Su-jin can become lightning to move Seo and fight the Future King, demonstrating personal command beyond the residual electricity embedded in his relics and territories. The constitution remains entangled with Heavenly Punishment and the fate Yang Su-jin spent his life resisting. His existing method never becomes the perfected Golden Divine Heavenly Thunder Decree he envisioned, and another bearer of related lightning does not inherit his identity. Jeon’s body lineage, techniques, and karma make him a successor whose choices can diverge from the founder, not a second Yang Su-jin. (Chapters 232–234, 692–694, 801–806)

Extinguishing Divine Tribulating Heavens

Yang Su-jin hides Extinguishing Divine Tribulating Heavens by distributing its rites across roughly 9,500 sect methods. When reunited, they operate as a blessing prayer and sacrificial ritual rather than a conventional formula. The rite can maximize heavenly lightning, form spear-like red-lightning authority, and weaken or twist an imposed fate connection, giving later practitioners a means to resist structures backed by beings far above mortal cultivation. The technique does not perfectly defeat fate and cannot be reproduced casually from one isolated sect manual. It requires the complete distributed inheritance or a direct transfer such as the one Seo receives. Its latest state is divided between Yang Su-jin’s restored Immortal Lord authority and the ritual logic preserved by Seo and the surviving lineage; neither possession proves completion of the unrealized future decree. Fate arrangements and persistent remnants

Yang Su-jin divides consciousness, manipulates the attraction of fate, anchors prophecy, and builds mechanisms that answer later conditions. These arrangements summon warning shadows, activate the Ascension Gate, obstruct a Heavenly Domain, seal the furnace beneath Ascension Path, and preserve information or blessings for a qualified successor. The ring finger adds bodily authority, but its scale comes from a severed Immortal remain rather than a fully restored personal will. (Chapters 80, 138, 232–234, 588–589, 790–797)

Every form has a limit. Shadows dissipate, divided consciousness lacks later knowledge, body parts can be removed and absorbed, and an afterimage’s shell can apparently be manipulated. The restored Immortal Lord no longer needs these mechanisms to speak or fight personally, while the old arrangements remain separate legacies whose provenance must still be judged. Their persistence proves extraordinary planning, not continuous awareness through every relic. (Chapters 269, 588–589, 790–801)

Poppy illusion

Poppy fields embedded in the Lightning Sacred Sea release a hazy fragrance that attempts to impose illusion or brainwashing. The field functions as territorial defense and as a symbolic extension of Yang Su-jin’s association with memory, deception, and preserved intent. It challenges Seo’s consciousness automatically within the inherited region rather than requiring a visible living caster to direct every flower. (Chapter 588)

An Upper Immortal consciousness can sweep the effect away, and the continued presence of poppies does not establish that the dead Yang Su-jin personally controls them at that moment. No later scene makes the illusion a central technique of his restored combat. Its latest demonstrated condition is residual Immortal Art within the old territory, separate from the red-lightning authority he wields after restoration. (Chapters 588, 693, 801)

• Seo Eun-hyun: Later-generation Ender, ideological challenger, inheritor, and final-war comrade. Yang Su-jin’s remnants warn, teach, and protect him; Seo accepts their practical legacy while rejecting dehumanization and questioning unreliable afterimages. • Zhengli and Heavenly Punishment Do Gon: Beloved connection, predestined opponent, betrayal, and unfinished responsibility.
