Feather of the Sea God
The Feather of the Sea God is a ship-mounted artifact associated with Janice and used by Du Ge's coalition to shorten the long voyage demanded by the Sea God's quest.
History
After completing the Destiny Sea Chart, Du Ge's fleet must still reach the Golden Compass before its rivals. The feather turns a voyage expected to take half a month into roughly five days. By the final confrontation it is mounted on Janice's ship, the Watcher, where it protects the vessel from the ordinary force of a supernatural storm. Its speed makes it strategically important enough that rival coalitions count it among the treasures they expect to seize from Paul. (Chapters 174, 177, and 182–183)
Abilities and properties
The feather triples a ship's sailing speed and grants unusual stability in violent water, but it is not an absolute shield. During the final battle, the Watcher withstands the storm itself yet breaks apart when the whirlpool drives Janice's own icicles and wreckage through the vessel. The artifact therefore enhances movement and resistance to the sea while leaving the ship vulnerable to solid impacts and concentrated supernatural attacks. (Chapters 174 and 183)
