Teng Xiaoming
Teng Xiaoming is a Demon General who travels through the Garden of Zhou in the guise of a slow, ordinary husband beside Liu Wan'er. His overwhelming strength and final sacrifice are inseparable from that marriage. (Chapters 259–352)
Biography
Husband and general
Teng Xiaoming enters the Garden with Liu Wan'er, pursuing Qi Jian and Zhexiu as priority targets while suppressing his true cultivation to obey the world's restrictions. In battle he drops like a mountain with his iron staff, nearly crushing Chen Changsheng, but the newly summoned Mountain Sea Sword throws him back and bends his weapon. When ten thousand swords threaten Nanke, Teng and Liu exchange apology and resolve, restore their peak Star Condensation power despite knowing the Garden will punish them, and use the Great Art of Body Release to block the attack. Already mortally committed, they die together beneath the world's lightning after speaking of the quiet homeland they will never reach. (Chapters 259–267 and 327–340)
Appearance and personality
He appears as an honest, slow-moving middle-aged man carrying a pole, contrasting with his identity as a black-armored Demon General. His silence and steadiness complement Liu Wan'er's speech; even in death he responds to her regret with calm appreciation of the sword dragon they witnessed. (Chapters 259–260 and 327–340)
Abilities and cultivation
Outside the Garden, Teng is an upper or peak Star Condensation expert; inside, he suppresses himself to upper Ethereal Opening. His mountain-like descent concentrates immense weight through an iron staff and can drive Chen into solid stone. Restoring full power increases his defense enough to intercept the sword dragon, but violates the Garden's laws, while the Great Art of Body Release itself makes death unavoidable. (Chapters 267 and 327–340)
Relationships
- Liu Wan'er: Teng and Liu fight with mental coordination and choose the same fatal sacrifice, dying while speaking as husband and wife rather than officers. (Chapters 259–267 and 329–340)
- Nanke: The couple abandons any hope of survival to shield Nanke from the ten-thousand-sword dragon. (Chapters 327–340)
- Chen Changsheng: Teng nearly overwhelms Chen until the Mountain Sea Sword answers the force of his staff. (Chapters 327–330)
Items
- Iron carrying pole: The pole is actually a staff forged from Demon Mountain secret iron and meteorite metal. It has crushed Great Zhou experts, but the Mountain Sea Sword scars and bends it. (Chapters 259–260 and 327–330)
