World Crystal

World Crystal is an exceptionally dense crystallisation of world power that can protect or imprison beings of the highest ranks. The term refers to several formations rather than one portable object.

History

Shar’s crystal prison

Leylin encounters Shar sealed in a huge crystal after her attempt to control a World Will. He identifies the substance as world crystal and breaks it to release her, establishing its capacity as a prison for a being of law. (Chapter 1108)

Protection of the Overgod

In the Celestial Hall, world crystal encloses the Overgod’s throne. The barrier is described as vastly stronger than ordinary origin force and beyond the combined ability of the greater gods to break under normal conditions. It cracks as the world order destabilises and ultimately shatters, awakening the Overgod. (Chapters 1133, 1161, 1171, and 1193)

Material and battlefield barrier

World crystals become one component in Seven Sins. During the final confrontation, Leylin also finds Mother Core and Ignox sealed in thick crystal and uses Seven Sins to break the formations around them. (Chapters 1165 and 1197)

Abilities and properties

  • Forms barriers powerful enough to protect an Overgod from greater gods. (Chapter 1133)
  • Can function as either protection or imprisonment depending on how it forms around a target. (Chapters 1108, 1133, and 1197)
  • Can be used as high-grade weapon material and can be broken by sufficiently powerful world- or overgod-level force. (Chapters 1165, 1193, and 1197)
