Mother Core is the strongest established law-being native to the Magus World and a leading peak rank 8 Magus. She governs access to subterranean origin force, prepares the renewed Final War, and becomes Leylin Farlier’s most important high-level ally.

Biography

Authority beneath the Magus World

Mother Core presides over the ancient law-beings in the seventh subterranean level. Her authority is visible when the others fall silent at her command and accept her as the senior voice welcoming Leylin Farlier. She does not hand him origin force informally. A law-written soil tablet, signed before the Magus World’s Will, binds the participants before he is recognised as one of them. The arrangement reflects the Magus principle of exchange: membership brings access and protection, but also obligations to the world and its future war. (Chapters 762–774)

She explains why the World of Gods matters to ancient Magi. Divine law is supported by theocracy, divine fire, and faith, making a defeated god’s comprehension easier to seize than the unique path another Magus has refined into their own existence. Mother Core survived the first Final War and understands both the opportunity and the cost. Her underground leadership is therefore not merely custodial; it preserves the forces and origin resources needed for another attempt at the route to eternity. (Chapters 773–774)

A powerful path with a structural limit

Mother Core is a peak rank 8 who has fused multiple laws into a stable personal path. Leylin reads that foundation as gravity and stability grounded in earth and fire. It gives her immense staying power, territorial control, and strength greater than most surviving ancient Magi. The same specialisation appears to be her bottleneck. Rank 9 requires a path capable of accommodating space and time, and a completed path cannot simply be discarded and walked again. Her earth-centred foundation has endured for ages but lacks the needed extension into spacetime. (Chapters 921, 1044–1045, and 1064)

The limit explains why she invests in rising Magi rather than treating them only as juniors. After speaking with the Wisdom Tree in the river of space and time, she accepts the possibility that a rapidly advancing native will become essential to the new Final War. She sends clones to Purgatory, the Icy World, and other worlds to seek candidates favoured by their World Wills. Leylin is one prospect among that wider search, although the speed and quality of his advancement soon make him the most important. (Chapter 1044)

Sponsoring Leylin and preparing invasion

When Leylin reaches rank 7, Mother Core authorises a gate to the Magus World’s sea of origin force because his contract and native status make him eligible. Her preferential protection also keeps other law-beings from taking his research: when a peak rank 8 attempts to pry, the force displayed by one of her manifestations makes the intruder withdraw. She later accepts Leylin’s route into the World of Gods, helps organise the first descending Magi, and expects him to join the war once he reaches peak rank 8. (Chapters 1040–1045, 1109–1110, and 1161)

Her support is practical as well as political. After Distorted Shadow revives through Cyric, Mother Core enters Leylin’s divine kingdom through a clone, anchors roots into its soil, and extracts a hidden seed of distortion. She can overpower the newly revived Magus, but he escapes before her earthy flames eliminate him. She therefore guards the kingdom while Leylin conquers Baator, denying Distorted Shadow an easy attack on the home and followers that sustain his divine side. (Chapter 1168)

The two-world plan

Mother Core and Leylin coordinate the formation that brings the Magus World’s Will into direct conflict with the Overgod. Her experience lets her interpret the confluence of worlds and organise peak-rank combatants even when the rank 9 battle itself is beyond her perception. The plan succeeds strategically, but it also disperses the Magi across fronts and exposes old rivalries. Leylin warns her that a traitor is manipulating deployments; Mother Core continues the operation while testing that possibility against the gods’ counterattack. (Chapters 1178–1194)

The campaign offers a personal solution to her bottleneck. Chauntea’s greater-god path is compatible with earth, and absorbing it could repair defects in Mother Core’s foundation enough to create a better basis for approaching spacetime. She deliberately requests Gale Gorge, where the Earthmother is stationed, and asks Leylin to help secure the kill. The gods anticipate that desire and turn the gorge into a trap. (Chapter 1195)

Gale Gorge and the price of survival

Mother Core roots across the Magus camp to control and monitor the ground, but the gods employ a Gale Whirlpool powerful enough to trap a peak rank 8—an operation described as harder than killing one outright. Ignox then reveals his connection to Distorted Shadow, converting an apparent ally inside the formation into part of the ambush. Leylin’s counterplot brings reinforcements and reverses the betrayal. Mother Core commits everything to prevent Chauntea from escaping and, with Leylin’s assistance, kills and devours the Earthmother. She gains the compatible power she sought but suffers injuries severe enough to leave her unable to defend her political position. (Chapters 1196–1199)

Leylin’s A.I. Chip clone immediately exploits that weakness. A modified Tree of Life has already implanted Leylin through the Magus World’s population; Mother Core’s surrendered fragment supplies enough of the remaining authority for him to exceed the threshold needed to influence the World Will. Faced with death, she chooses survival and yields rather than contesting a coalition while wounded. She leaves alive and with Chauntea’s power, which may let her approach spacetime after recovery, but the corpus ends before confirming either healing or rank 9 advancement. (Chapter 1200)

Appearance and personality

Mother Core possesses innumerable clones in different forms. One manifestation is a crimson lava gemstone like a vertical eye atop countless veins; her main body can emerge as an immense core whose roots spread through the earth. (Chapters 1109–1110 and 1196)

Her manner is steady, grave, and authoritative. She values the Magus tradition of exchange and advancement, protects useful allies, and plans across epochs. The prospect of repairing her path through Chauntea is one of the few things that makes her openly impatient. (Chapters 773, 1044, 1168, and 1195–1196)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Peak rank 8 path

Mother Core has refined several laws into a unique peak-rank path associated with earth, fire, stability, and gravity. Its combat expression is durable and territorial: she anchors into worlds, controls solid ground, and projects earthy yellow flame capable of erasing law-level intrusions. Her reputation as an overlord from the ancient war and her superiority over a recently reconstructed Distorted Shadow show the path’s mature power. Stability is also its constraint. Because it was not built to hold space and time, raw age and accumulated force alone do not produce rank 9. (Chapters 921, 1044, 1064, and 1168)

Roots, core, and territorial control

Her immense core can extend roots through ground tougher than magical alloy. Once planted, those roots spread across a camp as control channels and detection tendrils, turning terrain into a sensory and defensive network. Smaller vines can interact with a divine kingdom’s soil and pull a seed of distortion out of concealment. This makes hidden spatial or law-based sabotage harder to maintain around her, but it is not omniscience: sufficiently elaborate enemy formations still trap her at Gale Gorge, and elemental isolation can block even her observation. Earthy yellow flame

Mother Core’s flame carries the laws of her path rather than behaving like ordinary heat. It sweeps through space to eliminate distorted power and can support the broader control exercised by her subterranean body. Distorted Shadow avoids destruction by dispersing before the attack finishes, demonstrating that the flame can overpower what it catches without automatically preventing a spacetime specialist from escaping. Tens of millions of clones

Legends credit Mother Core with tens of millions of manifestations in different forms. She sends them across the astral plane to search for rising Magi, uses one to guard Leylin’s divine kingdom, and speaks through bodies ranging from flame-like cores to gemstones and roots. The network gives exceptional reach and redundancy, but a clone is not always equivalent to the full main body. A mission requiring her peak combat power still depends on the true core, and periods when the two-world plan prevents cloning reduce her coverage. (Chapters 1044, 1110, 1168, and 1189)

Magus World authority and origin access

As a native peak rank 8, Mother Core embodies a significant fraction of the Magus World’s Will. She can witness binding agreements before that Will, authorise a qualified Magus to enter the origin sea, and lead the subterranean law-beings who regulate access. This is institutional and world-derived authority, not ownership of every portion of the world. Leylin ultimately needs only half the total authority to influence the Will, and Mother Core’s surrendered portion helps him cross that threshold without conquering the entire underground. Law perception and ancient experience

Mother Core can read truesoul-level death across the river of space and time, distinguish genuine annihilation from the survivable remnants common to law-beings, and interpret the collision between two worlds. Her judgement is still bounded below rank 9: she explicitly cannot comprehend the full battle between the Overgod and Magus Will, and Distorted Shadow’s oath manipulation and control of Ignox evade confirmation until Leylin’s countertrap exposes them. Chauntea’s absorbed power

Chauntea’s earth divinity is compatible material for repairing defects in Mother Core’s path. Devouring it improves her foundation and brings the possibility of using spacetime closer, but the gain is not an instant breakthrough. She first has to survive severe battle injuries, integrate a greater god’s power, and then attempt the next stage. The supplied corpus ends before any successful rank 9 advance, so the result remains potential rather than a completed ability. (Chapters 1195–1200)
