Meteor Sword

The Meteor Sword is a high-grade magic artifact designed for a Warlock. Its separated components become part of Merlin’s plan for Aaron and Baelin in Twilight Zone, after which Leylin completes the weapon for his own bloodline and uses it as his principal sword.

History

A divided weapon

Merlin presents the Meteor Sword as a Warlock-class weapon and directs Aaron to collect the materials needed to forge it. Its components are divided among participants linked to Sacred Flame; during the final struggle against Longbottom, the parts reunite into a cross-shaped sword. Aaron wields it first, then Baelin takes it over during the same battle. (Chapters 294–295, 353, 359, and 379–381)

Completion for its designer

Leylin takes the incomplete weapon as a secondary gain from his Twilight Zone plans. He explains that the sword was originally customised to his own design and still lacks its most important step. After bringing it under his control, he channels his Warlock power and Toxic Bile through it, making its black blade a vehicle for Kemoyin poison. (Chapters 382 and 400–434)

Damage in a Morning Star battle

Continued improvements raise the sword to the level of magic equipment, and it becomes dangerous even to Crystal Phase Magi. Against the Azure Mountain King, however, the blade cracks under the Morning Star Magus’s physical attack. Leylin releases it to continue fighting, and it lands in his opponent’s hands; the corpus does not show Leylin recovering it afterward. (Chapters 445–449, 484–488)

Abilities and properties

  • Uses energy-converging, fire-element, and dark-element amplification runes in its high-grade artifact form. (Chapter 295)
  • Conducts Leylin’s Toxic Bile, adding dangerous Kemoyin venom to its cuts and projected sword light. (Chapters 382, 421, and 484)
  • Improves to the level of magic equipment after repeated optimisation, but remains vulnerable to Morning Star strength. (Chapters 487–488)
