Biography

A generous assistant becomes a knight

Baelin works in a Potter Town weapon shop and has little money or status of his own. He nevertheless lets the orphaned Longbottom help around the shop, feeds him, and offers to teach him to read without demanding payment. Leylin Farlier, then concealing himself as an ordinary craftsman, notices both this generosity and Baelin's unusual physical potential. He reorganizes the Farlier cross-blade breathing technique and teaches Baelin how controlled breathing and bodily secretions produce life essence in the lower abdomen. (Chapters 293–297)

Baelin reaches Knight level in roughly six months and approaches Grand Knight far faster than Leylin expects. The speed comes from three causes rather than unexplained talent: Leylin's optimized technique, Baelin's exceptional suitability for martial cultivation, and relentless practice. Leylin's tests then establish that Baelin has only first-grade spiritual aptitude, making ordinary Magus advancement impractical. Baelin consequently commits himself to the knight path instead of mistaking his rapid martial growth for magical talent. (Chapters 296–303)

Jenny and the road beyond Potter Town

Baelin joins Jenny's journey through the Woody Wasteland and repeatedly places himself between her party and danger. Against a Goat-Horned Earth Dragon, his secret technique exhausts his stored life essence before the beast falls. A hidden rune Leylin placed in his sword then returns energy to his life seed, forces the Grand Knight bottleneck open, and increases his life energy by roughly an order of magnitude. Baelin experiences the breakthrough as a heroic last stand without knowing how carefully his mentor engineered the decisive aid. (Chapters 299–303)

His loyalty to Jenny carries him into the Argus Family's succession conflict. He can overwhelm ordinary knights and threaten weakened acolytes, but his Grand Knight force is still limited beside prepared Magus techniques. Leylin therefore gives him a translucent defensive technique and later intervenes indirectly when stronger enemies appear. Baelin and Jenny ultimately reject the roles her household has assigned them and leave together, transforming an infatuated bodyguard's journey into a chosen partnership. (Chapters 304–316)

The Bio Booster inheritance

Years later Baelin discovers an ancient Bio Booster inheritance suited to someone whose body far outstrips his spiritual aptitude. Its biological armor integrates with him, magnifies his physical force, provides defensive and movement functions, and contains an eye capable of projecting a restrictive field. He also subdues an Underground Winter Spider Emperor whose might is comparable to a Rank 2 Magus. These gains let a former shop assistant operate in battles where conventional Grand Knights would be irrelevant. (Chapters 345–369)

The inheritance does not turn Baelin into a Magus or erase tactical limits. His armor can be corroded and damaged, its techniques consume energy, and the Spider Emperor is an allied creature rather than proof that every strike Baelin makes has Rank 2 force. His effectiveness comes from combining enhanced physiology, martial skill, armor functions, and a powerful companion. The same system makes him the human side's natural champion when the dark-elven uprising led by Longbottom threatens Twilight Zone. (Chapters 355–380)

Friend against friend

Baelin refuses to reduce Longbottom to a faceless enemy. He fights to protect human settlements while still hoping to recover the boy he once sheltered, a hesitation Longbottom repeatedly exploits. At the final confrontation, Baelin's armor suppresses movement, gives him aerial mobility, and helps him withstand corrosive magic. Aaron lends him the Meteor Sword, whose greater power can be expressed more fully through Baelin's enhanced body. Even then, ordinary wounds cannot stop Longbottom after the Ritual of Life transfers the source of his life elsewhere. (Chapters 369–380)

Aaron's Sacred Flame exposes the ritual's weakness, allowing Baelin to direct a decisive sword strike into the spider image anchoring it. The victory is therefore cooperative: Baelin supplies resolve and physical execution, while Aaron identifies and opens the metaphysical target. Baelin defeats Longbottom's immediate form, but cannot undo the years of manipulation that placed both friends on opposite sides. (Chapters 379–380)

A hero manufactured for destiny

Leylin finally reveals that Baelin and Longbottom have become complementary Children of Destiny. Their rise, collision, and sacrifice concentrate Twilight Zone's destiny into the forming Coin of Destiny. Leylin had not selected Baelin for this purpose at their first meeting, but after recognizing the convergence he nurtured events and allowed the two champions to mature. He removes the coin from Baelin's neck once their roles are complete. (Chapters 355, 380–381)

Baelin attacks the mentor who used his kindness, love, and victories as ritual inputs, but the difference between Rank 2-equivalent equipment-assisted combat and Leylin's true power is absolute. Leylin disarms him, takes the Meteor Sword, and decapitates him to complete the sacrifice. Baelin's choices remain sincere even though the larger path was engineered; that tension is what makes his death the culmination of Leylin's experiment in controlling destiny. (Chapters 381–382)

Appearance and personality

Baelin grows from a plainly dressed shop youth into a muscular, armored warrior. His bearing becomes more assured as his training advances, but he retains an open expression and the habits of someone accustomed to poverty, including reluctance to waste a damaged weapon.

He is kind, diligent, loyal, and courageous. Baelin intimidates enemies more readily than he executes helpless captives, and his first instinct is to protect Jenny or recover Longbottom rather than calculate personal gain. That moral consistency creates genuine loyalty around him, but his faith in mentors and friends also makes him unusually vulnerable to a planner who understands those attachments.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Cross-blade breathing and life energy

Baelin cultivates life essence through an optimized breathing cycle that coordinates respiration, bodily secretions, and the life seed below his abdomen. Activating that stored energy reinforces strength, speed, and weapon strikes; the secret killing technique Cross Blade concentrates it into a burst capable of harming creatures beyond an ordinary knight. The burst has a firm reserve limit, and exhausting it leaves Baelin unable to maintain the same offense or protection. (Chapters 296–302)

Grand Knight breakthrough

His Grand Knight advancement expands life energy to roughly ten times its former level and permits an outward layer of force around body and blade. The breakthrough occurs only after Leylin's hidden sword rune feeds energy into the exhausted life seed, so it combines genuine preparation with external intervention. Grand Knight status lets Baelin dominate mundane combatants, but does not by itself make him equal to an uninjured Level 3 acolyte or official Magus. (Chapters 302–308)

Martial technique and combat judgment

Baelin uses large swords and cross blades with direct, forceful technique. His improved senses, wasteland experience, and willingness to hold a defensive line make him an effective escort. He can activate temporary bodily enlargement and high-speed movement, but such secret techniques consume life essence and cannot be sustained indefinitely. His strongest victories usually come from reading an opening created by allies rather than from spell-like versatility. (Chapters 300–316, 379–380)

Bio Boosting armor

The ancient Bio Booster path enhances physiology instead of depending on Magus aptitude. Baelin's integrated armor raises strength and speed, produces wings for short aerial charges, and manifests an eye whose field restricts a selected target. It also supplies protection against attacks that would kill an unarmored Grand Knight. The armor can be damaged by sustained corrosive magic, and its restraint does not automatically overcome a target whose life source has been displaced by ritual. (Chapters 355–380)

Underground Winter Spider Emperor

Baelin subdues an Underground Winter Spider Emperor with might comparable to a Rank 2 Magus. The creature broadens his battlefield reach and confirms that the Bio Booster inheritance can interface with dangerous subterranean life. It remains a separate being and source of force, however; its rank cannot simply be added to every one of Baelin's personal attacks. (Chapters 359–369)

Rank 2-equivalent combat and its ceiling

At his peak Baelin can participate in Rank 2-level combat through the combined effects of his body, armor, companion, and borrowed Meteor Sword. “Equivalent” describes practical threat, not a Rank 2 Magus's spiritual force, spell repertoire, or survivability. Leylin defeats him immediately once the destiny ritual ends, demonstrating that external enhancements never close the gap to a prepared high-ranked Magus. (Chapters 369–382)
