Coin of Destiny

The Coin of Destiny is a unique prophecy item created by Leylin from Sacred Flame and the sacrifice of a child of destiny. It gives limited guidance about future paths and probabilities, but predictions involving sufficiently powerful beings damage it.

History

Forged amid Twilight Zone’s upheaval

Leylin completes the coin as Aaron and Baelin’s conflict with Longbottom reaches its end. He compresses the ritual’s forces into the item and declares it finished with Sacred Flame at its core. The resulting coin can point toward possible futures, although its answers are indirect and uncertain. (Chapters 381–382)

Guidance to the central continent

Leylin uses the coin to locate hidden survivors, inheritances, and the western route that ultimately leads him toward bloodline Warlocks. Attempts to examine matters involving Morning Star power crack its surface, establishing a hard limit on the scale of its predictions. (Chapters 385–388 and 406)

Damage beyond safe use

The coin continues to guide Leylin through dangerous choices, including the Blood Vulture pocket dimension and the search for astral-world coordinates. Repeated high-level predictions leave it nearly split in half. Leylin stores it rather than destroy it, but later experiments proceed without its help because another use risks complete destruction. (Chapters 414, 427, 436, and 467–471)

• Predicts likely outcomes and gives directional guidance about matters below the Morning Star realm. (Chapters 382, 385, and 467)
• Produces vague results that still require interpretation rather than providing certain, detailed prophecy. (Chapter 414)
• Cracks under backlash when a question involves Morning Star beings, other worlds, or similarly powerful interference. (Chapters 385, 406, and 467)
