Odge
Biography
Alliance in the outer seas
Odge leads the barbarian pirates as both war captain and protector of a displaced people. When he privately meets Leylin Farlier, he immediately notices the discipline of a trained soldier beneath Leylin's priest-like aura and seals their conversation behind externally manifested qi. Odge accepts an alliance because the barbarians have abundant fighters but lack the wizard power needed to answer Boruj and House Louis. He then mobilises the Pirate Tide, combines forces with the Scarlet Tigers, and shares the spoils after their common enemies are defeated (Chapters 834, 844, 850–851).
War with Port Venus
As Port Venus grows beyond his ability to contain it, Odge accepts approaches from enemies of Leylin, including forces associated with Cyric and the devils. The chapters show a desperate leader entering a hostile coalition, but do not establish that he personally becomes a divine priest or signs a devil contract. When Leylin destroys the barbarians' sacrificial altar, Odge senses the loss, swears revenge, and leads a direct attack (Chapters 927–932).
Isabel meets him in battle. Odge's saber qi cuts through ordinary pirates, and his bloodline and equipment make him almost unmatched below the legendary realm, but Isabel's dragon breath injures him before the Red Dragon Sword's Sharp and Break properties shatter his peak alchemised saber. She pierces his heart and burns his organs; Madam Tillen dies holding his hand after the defeat (Chapters 932–933).
Appearance and personality
Odge is a gigantic, prickly-bearded barbarian with a boorish face and a voice like grinding metal. He is blunt, proud, and ferocious, crushing a skull in one hand when grief turns to vengeance. Yet his first compact with Leylin shows strategic judgment: he recognises what his people lack, protects a confidential negotiation, and makes an alliance that can preserve them. His later recklessness grows from the same responsibility after Port Venus leaves the barbarians increasingly cornered.
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
Odge is a high-ranked warrior below the legendary realm. His barbarian bloodline, physical strength, and magical equipment place him near the top of that tier; he can crush bone by hand and release saber qi broad enough to bisect multiple pirates. He can also manifest qi outside his body as a barrier that prevents magical observation of a conversation, a focused privacy technique rather than proof of general spellcasting (Chapters 834, 932).
His battle with Isabel defines his limit. Odge can dominate ordinary combatants and threaten other high-ranked warriors, but he cannot withstand a legendary dragon inheritor's breath and weapon properties. Once his saber breaks, he has no demonstrated defence capable of stopping the Red Dragon Sword (Chapters 932–933).
