Joanna

Joanna is a withdrawn rank 5 Magus whose ancient physique and divided soul create the apparent sibling pair called the Twin Gemini. She joins Melinda's attack on the Blazing Flame Monarch to avenge the destruction of her clan and the death of her real brother Clarke.

Biography

The apparent twins

Joanna arrives wrapped in black robes beside a heavily armored man presented as her older brother Clarke. She avoids social contact and lets him speak, while their complementary behavior supports the central continent's belief that they are independent Radiant Moon siblings. Both join Melinda because the Blazing Flame Monarch destroyed their ancient clan, and the apparent Clarke carries the anger and protective resolve Joanna cannot comfortably express herself. Their closeness helps the expedition function, but it also conceals the psychological mechanism on which Joanna depends. (Chapters 651–656)

Clarke's true identity

During the confrontation, the Monarch reveals that the original Clarke died long ago. The companion is a soul-servant formed when Joanna split away her courage, longing, hatred, and other parts of herself and shaped them around her memory of him. The construct is therefore continuous with Joanna's soul but acts as her brother in her perception. When it is destroyed, Joanna loses both emotional support and the restraints created by that division. The revelation reframes the Twin Gemini: their famous partnership has been one survivor maintaining a relationship with an externalized part of herself. (Chapters 656–658)

Awakening of the ancient physique

Clarke's loss releases Joanna's suppressed emotions and awakens her inherited physique. Her appearance changes, her energy rises to peak Radiant Moon, and the surrounding environment begins replenishing her spiritual force and magic power. She turns the clan's ancient plant-like power directly against the injured Monarch, fighting beside Leylin and Melinda while no longer relying on the construct to act for her. This increased strength is inseparable from grief: the more complete Joanna becomes, the more determined she is to use that wholeness for vengeance rather than survival. (Chapters 657–659)

Self-destruction and failed revenge

Joanna binds herself and the Monarch within the roots and flower of a gigantic purple plant, accepting death as reunion rather than defeat. Her self-detonation destroys the half-dimension, opens spatial rifts, and forces even allies protected by rank 6 energy to defend themselves. Only a droplet of her purple-gold blood remains. The attack gravely affects the battlefield but fails to kill its target, because the Blazing Flame Monarch rebirths herself through fire and restores her peak rank 6 strength. Joanna achieves an extraordinary final strike without obtaining the revenge that motivated it. (Chapters 659–660)

Appearance and personality

Joanna initially hides her entire body beneath a black robe and leaves interaction to Clarke. After awakening, her hair becomes completely dark purple and a luminous flower-shaped mark appears on her forehead. Purple plant imagery recurs throughout her manifested power.

She is socially withdrawn and emotionally dependent on the brother construct, but not weak-willed. Her apparent passivity results partly from having externalized the personality traits needed for direct confrontation. Clarke's destruction returns those traits in an uncontrolled flood. Joanna then becomes decisive, furious, and willing to erase herself if that creates a chance to kill the enemy who destroyed her family. (Chapters 651–660)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Ancient energy-gathering physique

Joanna inherits a top-grade physique from an ancient clan. Once fully awakened, it continuously attracts ambient energy and converts that supply into renewed spiritual force and magic power, allowing her reserves and strength to grow during the fight. The awakening raises her to peak Radiant Moon, but it occurs only after the Clarke construct is destroyed and her divided emotions return. The corpus shows powerful replenishment and advancement without giving the physique a separate canonical name or proving unlimited recovery. (Chapters 657–659)

Soul division and the Clarke servant

Joanna can divide portions of her soul and personality and embody them in a servant that appears and behaves as Clarke. The construct carries her courage, longing, hatred, and protective identity, can interact with others, and fights with its own apparent body. It is not the resurrected original Clarke, nor should every action performed through it be described as Joanna's visible body acting. Destroying the construct collapses her psychological partition and triggers awakening, showing that the technique creates both a capable extension and a profound emotional dependency. Plant, vine, and cutting manifestations

Joanna's awakened power manifests through purple energy, vegetation, and extremely sharp threads. She forms vines and weapons, constrains enemies, and produces cutting forces capable of threatening high-ranked opponents and space itself. Her greatest application grows roots from her own body around the Monarch and solidifies a gigantic purple plant whose blossom contains the self-detonation. These effects arise from her physique and magic; the black sword used by the Clarke servant is separate equipment of that manifested body. (Chapters 653 and 657–660)

Peak self-detonation

Joanna can release her entire awakened body and power in a suicidal explosion. The blast destroys a half-dimension, spreads purple energy through surrounding space, and leaves only trace blood behind. It is strong enough to injure and momentarily threaten a rank 6 Monarch, but it is irreversible and does not bypass the Monarch's fire-rebirth method. The technique's cost is Joanna's complete bodily destruction, making it a final act rather than a repeatable combat option. (Chapter 660)

Relationships

• Clarke: Joanna's deceased elder brother and the identity around which she shapes a soul-servant. Her longing for him structures both her public life and final decision.
• Blazing Flame Monarch: Destroyer of Joanna's clan and target of her self-sacrificial revenge.
• Melinda: Organizer who recruits Joanna's strength for the assault. Shared purpose does not eliminate Joanna's later distrust of the plan.
• Leylin Farlier: Fellow attacker whose pressure helps create the opening for Joanna's final strike.

Items

• Clarke's black sword: A high-grade weapon used by the soul-servant's armored body. Because the construct is an externalized personality rather than Joanna's ordinary visible form, the sword is best associated with that manifestation. (Chapters 656–657)
