Biography

Mentor of a new bloodline brother

Gilbert is one of the three Rank 4 Morning Star leaders whose presence gives the Ouroboros Clan its status and security. After Robin introduces Leylin, Gilbert studies the newcomer's South Coast history and unusually pure Giant Kemoyin bloodline. He accepts Leylin as a student because a first-generation Warlock with that record has a credible chance of reaching Morning Star, the measure by which the central continent judges a truly powerful organization. He gives Leylin the fourth grade of Kemoyin's Pupil in a crimson crystal ball, completing the clan inheritance Leylin previously lacked. Gilbert then spends scarce time teaching the structure of ranks, bloodline limits, ancient Magus history, the World of Gods, and the Star Realm. The instruction is generous but follows Magus exchange: ordinary phase formations and resources still require contribution, while Leylin is rewarded when his work materially assists Gilbert's experiments. Gilbert also opens his cosmic-gate research to the new student. Leylin observes how spiritual-force coordinates, astral stone, formations, and a Morning Star's soul capacity make cross-world exploration possible. The teaching gives him an institutional path rather than forcing him to rediscover every stage, while Gilbert gains a talented researcher whose analysis improves the clan's long search for Purgatory World. Protection within the clan

Gilbert's mentorship includes faction protection. When Cyril's overwhelming hand threatens Robin, Kesha, and Leylin, Gilbert arrives through the spatial disturbance, petrifies the attack with his vertical pupils, and confronts the opposing Morning Star away from the weaker Warlocks. His intervention does not make the students immune to danger; it preserves the rule that disputes among juniors cannot become casual extermination by a senior power. (Chapters 414–436)

This backing lets Leylin undertake expeditions, acquire resources, and survive political hostility while remaining responsible for his own risks. Gilbert does not solve each phase bottleneck or grant unlimited artifacts. He offers knowledge, a recognized lineage, and deterrence—the three institutional advantages the unaffiliated Leylin previously lacked. (Chapters 401–436)

Captivity in the Lava World

Gilbert and the other clan leaders pursue cross-world research despite knowing that even a Morning Star can be trapped beyond a cosmic gate. A hostile scheme draws them into the Lava World and removes all three from Ouroboros at once. Their disappearance nearly destroys the clan because enemies correctly read the loss of its Morning Star deterrent as an invitation to attack. (Chapters 493–504)

Leylin follows Gilbert's unstable soul flame and the gate evidence into the Lava World. Gilbert and Emma have been caught within the conflict around Jupiter's Lightning and cannot simply return under their own power. By the time Leylin reaches them he is also a Morning Star, capable of surviving the world transition and executing a rescue plan at their level. (Chapters 504–560)

The reunion reverses the original hierarchy without erasing it. Gilbert accepts help from the student he trained, while Leylin treats saving him as repayment and as necessary for the clan's restoration. Their return reestablishes Ouroboros's senior structure, although Leylin's independent strength now makes him its dominant future. (Chapters 560–578)

Return under a new emperor

After returning, Gilbert accepts Leylin's leadership and the new balance of power. Both are Rank 4 Giant Kemoyin Warlocks, but Leylin's path has already reached the inherited line's ceiling with far greater momentum. Gilbert contributes experience and legitimacy rather than pretending the former student remains subordinate merely because the mentorship came first. (Chapters 578 and 618)

When Leylin returns from Purgatory, his truesoul and bloodline aura identify him as a new progenitor. Gilbert kneels with Emma and the other Warlocks because their inherited origin now points toward Leylin instead of the Snake Dowager. This is not a mindless spell in the scene: it is recognition that the student has completed the clan's long-sought escape from its Rank 4 shackle. (Chapter 766)

Gilbert remains alive as an elder under the bloodline emperor. Leylin's new origin creates a possible path beyond Gilbert's former ceiling with assistance, but the corpus does not show Gilbert personally advancing past Rank 4. His latest established role remains teacher, researcher, and senior clan member within a lineage now founded by his student. (Chapters 766–767)

Appearance and personality

Gilbert is recognizable by a bald, polished head, loose robes, and the composed bearing of an established duke. His eyes can become dangerous vertical serpent pupils when he invokes bloodline power. He is cordial and patient in instruction, but his relaxed manner carries the deterrent of a Morning Star whose intervention can stop an attack that overwhelms Rank 3 Warlocks. He is generous with earned knowledge, committed to cross-world research, and realistic about changing power. Gilbert protects students without giving them every resource for free, accepts rescue without wounded pride, and kneels when Leylin becomes the new origin of their line. These choices consistently place the clan's future above personal precedence. (Chapters 401–408, 493–578, and 766)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Rank 4 Morning Star and point mass

Gilbert is a Rank 4 Morning Star Magus. Morning Star advancement condenses a Magus's accumulated spiritual force, path, bloodline, strength, and soul into a point mass, producing soul force and a qualitative increase beyond Crystal Phase. This lets Gilbert sustain cross-world experiments and confront peer Morning Stars whose attacks would erase lower-ranked groups. (Chapters 398–408 and 435)

The rank also marks the old Giant Kemoyin ceiling. Gilbert has accumulated longer at Rank 4 than Leylin initially has, but the inherited bloodline offers no natural next stage beyond the progenitor's limit. Leylin's later redirection of the line creates future potential; Gilbert is not shown using it to complete Rank 5 or 6 within the supplied corpus. (Chapters 504 and 766–767)

Giant Kemoyin bloodline and transformation

Kemoyin's Pupil awakens Gilbert's Giant Kemoyin Serpent inheritance. It grants poisonous bloodline power, vertical serpent pupils, petrifying sight, defensive and offensive bloodline spells, and the mature transformation expected of a Morning Star Warlock. Against Cyril's manifested hand, Gilbert's gaze turns its surface to ash-gray stone until the construct collapses. (Chapters 401–435)

These abilities derive from inherited blood and therefore share its limitation. They are unusually strong at equal rank but bind the user to the bloodline's maximum and, before Leylin's victory, to the Snake Dowager's deeper origin. Gilbert's mature mastery is extensive; it does not equal independent authority over all serpent descendants. (Chapters 401–504 and 766)

Astral gates and cross-world research

Gilbert operates a cosmic gate capable of sending spiritual-force coordinate markers toward other worlds. The system requires formations, rare astral stone, frequency adjustment, and the massive spiritual-force capacity of a Morning Star. Lower-ranked assistants can contribute calculations and observations but cannot safely bear the full transit cost. (Chapters 402–408)

His research seeks Purgatory World because the clan believes the answer to its bloodline shackles lies with the source. It also creates risk: hostile coordinates can lure even several Morning Stars into a prepared trap, as the Lava World captivity demonstrates. Astral expertise enables exploration rather than guaranteeing control over the destination or a return route. (Chapters 403, 477, and 493–560)

Teaching and bloodline scholarship

Gilbert can transmit the fourth grade of Kemoyin's Pupil, explain phase formations and rank mechanics, and evaluate a Warlock's purity and prospects. This knowledge is one of his most consequential powers in the narrative because it lets Leylin advance through a complete established system before eventually surpassing it. Instruction still depends on the student's work, resources, and luck; Gilbert explicitly distinguishes teaching from freely supplying every breakthrough condition. (Chapters 401–408)
